March 1, 2010crappy haiku movie review of the week - watchmenas we all know, there's no shortage of movie review sites out there on the web. but who among us hasn't longed for movie reviews in the form of really crappily done japanese poetry? i know i sure have! so once a week, i'll be dedicating a journal entry to a movie review in the form of a really crappy haiku. this week: a dark, gritty film that showed us all that being a superhero isn't all colorful tights, hot news reporter groupies and high fives from the president. existential loneliness, mind-boggling moral dilemmas and the skyrocketing cost of costume dry cleaning (it really is ridiculous lately) make being a modern day superhero a tough, thankless job. the success of this film's unflinching look at superhero life has some in hollywood talking about a sequel, watchmice, an uncensored glimpse straight into the seedy underbelly of the world of cartoon characters. the sequel is expected to focus mainly on mickey mouse's manslaughter trial, while peripherally tackling wile e. coyote's crippling addiction to painkillers and the emotional aftermath of elmer fudd's decision to renounce violence and become an..uh, "animal wights activist". - it's watchmen!
superhero peeps one of them is colored blue
he hangs out in space the end p.s. feel free to hit me up with any suggestions, and you might just get to see one of your favorite movies summed up in a really crappy haiku... Related Groups:

January 30, 2009The Watchman (Is It Worth The Wait?) By: Lezah Williamson

One of the most highly anticipated films for spring 2009 must surely be The Watchman. Based on the graphic novel of the same name, it is directed by Zack Snyder. Legal battles over distribution rights between Fox and Warner have pushed back the release date, but that looks to be settled now; rumours last year had fans worried when the movie was clocking in at just over three hours. Likewise, a fantastic first trailer was followed by a much weaker one. Add to that a storyline and cast of characters that many feel will be hard to translate to the big screen in a meaningful way, and you've got a whole lot of people waiting with bated breath until March. My prediction: it'll be worth the wait. The story, set in an alternate 1985 America, where superheroes are a part of everyday life, is a strong one. Writer of the graphic novel, Alan Moore (V for Vendetta, The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, Swamp Thing) is a legend. The film's director Snyder has vowed to stay as true to the graphic novel as possible. He has also, apparently, worked some CGI magic with main character Rorschach's mask which can only add to the overall effect. All in all, this film will be a good one to watch for.
