These aren't the characters or cartoons of yesteryear: it's all about High School Musical, Hannah Montana, and The Jonas Brothers. How did this happen? Why are these shows and people so insanely popular? Do you think Disney will ever have success with cartoon television shows again?
These types of productions make kids feel grown up and empowered. Plus (some) dads and moms don't pull their hair out while the kids watch it. And creepy dads can leer at the teenage girls. This strategy is something I saw a lot with Latin-American programming when I lived in Puerto Rico.
All the little kids are watching it because they all think those people on those shows and movies have talent. I think they all suck, Hannah Montana - aka - Miley Cyrus is to caught up in fame now. The Jonas Brothers shouldn't be on Disney Channel with the kiddie songs, they should be writing stuff differently... and High School Musical is a joke. It's crap I can't believe there's more than one!
Disney will have success in coming back with cartoons.. they can do what they want and make people like whatever they want them to like, they are DISNEY. They have it all figured out though. If you actually watch those shows they are about kids who have money and are cool because they have a ton of stuff and look pretty. So disney figures that these kids will idolize them, and think they have to have a ton of stuff and be cool you have to act like a bitch and have money. So the kids learn to get what they want and everything they buy has to do with their idols and they are all disney product. So disney is tricking everyone... i just dont think people see it in this way haha
Disney will most probably never make another successful cartoon for the time their on air just because of High School Musical, Hannah Montana, and Jonas Brothers. I think in order to watch a good cartoon we'd have to go to Cartoon Network which i don't think is appropiate for children. Or Nickolodean, which is starting to follow in the footsteps of Disney anyway.
They should just play Boy Meets World all day...
