Summer Stars [One Shot Style]

"On a hot summer night, would you offer your throat to the wolf with the red roses?"

Swaying to the beat of the song, Cailyn made her way through the crowded party.  Craning her neck and cursing her short stature as always, she searched the mass of people for a familiar face.  Finally, she caught sight of a flash of pink hair and rushed over, shoving through people and muttering "Excuse me" countless times.

"Haven!" she yelled out, slipping an arm through one of the girl's arms.  "I've been looking all over for you!"

Haven grinned back, thankful for something to take her away from the group she was with.  "Hey, Cailyn.  Do you want to go out in the backyard for a while?" she asked in her soft, musical voice.  Cailyn always felt too loud and boisterous, overall not composed enough, around Haven.

"Yeah," she mumbled, taking in the other girl's outfit.  Black skinny jeans and a slim purple shirt, clinging to her perfect body in a way Cailyn could never manage with her clothes.  Tonight she had on a red plaid skirt with her favorite AFI shirt, something she had thought looked good, until this moment at least.

As they descended the steps off the porch, their hands slipped down and twined together, a practiced movement that seemed natural by now.  Cailyn smiled, blushing slightly in the dark.  Haven led her over to a tree with a low-slung branch, hopping up and pulling the other girl up with her.  The two sat silent for a moment, until Haven whispered, "I've been missing you, Cailyn.  It's been a long month."

Cailyn turned her head to reply, but was cut off by Haven's lips on her own.  She sighed, closing her eyes and sinking into the kiss, one hand slipping into the other girl's pink locks.  They separated for a moment, their breathing heavy.  "I missed you too," Cailyn said, kissing her way down Haven's jaw to her neck.  "I missed all of this."  She bit Haven's neck gently, smiling at the gasp that followed.  "Are you coming to my house tonight?" she whispered, already knowing the answer.

Haven grinned, pulling Cailyn's face back up to hers.  "You bet," she said, and kissed her roughly.  That night they watched the summer stars shining in the sky, wishing on each and every one.
