War and Peace. World Photography Awards.

I read about this amazing photography contest at my school, and yesterday, all the day, I was thinking about ideas, ideas for the photo I was going to submit. That night, I checked the rules online, but aparently, there wasn't anything that prevented me from participate. So I went today to one of the offices at my school to ask more things and see if I could get inscribed, this dude printed the official rules and gave them to me, and told me to come back tommorrow or monday. While I was in the car, I was reading the rules and I found something I didn't see last night: In the webpage, it doesn't say that I have to be taking photography at the moment of entering the contest, and it also doesn't say that all participants have to had finished at least 2 levels of photography. I DON'T EVEN HAVE TAKEN ONE!!! It just says that your school has to be registered in order for students to be accepted in the contest.

Anyway, the few hours I was excited about all this, a lot of ideas came to my mind, and I'm not going to waste them. I am going to take all the pics I thought and more, and I'll post them here.

I'll be ready next year, and then they'll see!!

I was angry, so I started to listen The Sounds and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. After thinking about cutting off the heads of the judges, all my anger was gone. "Off, Off, Off with the heads!!!" Karen O, I love you.

If you wanna enter to this contest, check the page!! If your school is registered, you totally should enter!!! And if it's not, you can go to the principal's office and yell at him until you convince him to inscribe the school in the contest, so you can enter xD

5 Videos Where The Children Are Our (Terrifying) Future

Youth is a wonderful thing. What a crime to waste it on children.
- George Bernard Shaw

There's a saying that goes "the children are our future." Well if that's the case in these videos, that future is pretty terrifying. From fist fights to brandishing weapons, and demon posession to frickin' telekinesis. If these kids are our future, I'm not sure anyone is going to live to see it.

Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Y Control
This is the video that inspired the list. It's so dark and twisted, you can't help but be afraid of all the kids in it. Warning: Simulated violence and dead animals.

Lordi - Hardrock Halellujah
Who hasn't felt ostrasized at some point in their life? High school is particularly lame for some people. Now imagine if you had your own zombie cheerleader squad. Would've been better, right?

Tamar-Kali - Boot
One of the most punk rock little girls around. Check out more of Tamar-Kali in the awesome documentary Afro-Punk.

Operator Please - Leave It Alone
Jackson Pollock meets teenage angst and fiddles.

Box Car Racer - I Feel So
In all honesty, I've heard from more than a few friends that this particular song saved their life. Hearing someone else talk about the same dark feelings you have is intense. But seriously, these kids have telekinesis. That's pretty scary.

All Points West 2009 Flooded Jersey City With Mud and Music

Mud, mud, more mud, and music. That pretty much sums up the All Points West festival for 2009. Even before it started to rain on Friday, the ground was already a bit soggy, so once it started to pour, it was a 5 year old’s dream playground of slushy, gooey, mud.  Kind of like Woodstock all over again, right? Details on the festival ...

Weekly Idol: Karen O

Lately, I have had a strange fascination with the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Karen O. I've been listening to them for several years now, but after their release of their new CD, I'ts Blitz, I've developed a mild obsession with the band. Their music can be described in one word: art. Every little detail of their music is made perfectly. Although their new CD has a complelely different style then their last two albums, it definitly is worth listening to. It has a more dance party feel to it, compared to their first CD, Fever To Tell, which had a punk aspect to it. Their second CD, Show Your Bones, isn't their greatest work; but it is still note-worthy. If you are a fan of any punk band, listen to Fever To Tell. If you like music that you can dance and have fun to, listen to It's Blitz.

Karen O, the lead singer, is one of the best female vocalist of this generation. Her personality shows through her music and her fashion. She's tuff enough to play with the boys, but stylish enough to shop with the girls. Her stylist, Christian Joy, has developed her look into a punk-rock futuristic "it" girl. Her outfits range from skin tight jumpers, to tights and a skirt. Girls should be looking up to her for fashion tips, maybe then our society would have more creative people in it.

Songs to check out: Dull Life. Art Star. Man. Gold Lion.

Magazine to read: Nylon's July 2009 Music Issue.

Bonnaroo: Round 2

Well I am in the process of recovering from Bonnaroo 2009. This was my second Roo in a row and it wasn't disappointing. For those of you not familiar with the festival, it is a 4 day extravaganza of music, art, and all around hippie-ry. The list of performers was impressive, so unfortunately I didn't get to see all the bands I wanted to. Plus, it was hot as mother fuck and sometimes I just had to sit the hell down. I finally got to see one of my all time favorite bands: Of Montreal. Kevin Barnes and his creative counterparts put on a wicked theatrical performance. Actors dressed as pigs and disco tigers paraded around the stage, busting beer bottles on heads. The band had an awesome set, playing many songs from "Hissing Fauna Are You The Rejector?" and even played an oldie (and my ringtone!) October Is Eternal. After an hour of psychedelic mayhem, the group concluded in true rock star fashion with guitar smashing and crowd surfing. The crowd went completely ape shit.

(OF MONTREAL PICS, sorry so blurry)

I also saw the Beastie Boys, whose DJ, Mix Master Mike was highly entertaining. Snoop Dogg got all the hippies grinding, but I had to dip out early to catch the rest of Band of Horses. I caught a peep of Flava Flav with Public Enemy. Unfortunately I didn't see any of his hoes. D: I even saw a bit of Bruce Springstein's 3 hour set, during which he preached about sexual healing and played "Santa Clause is Comin' to Town," which makes me think The Boss is losin' it. Unfortunately I was way too exhausted to be alert for Girl Talk, which I know I'll regret. I also regret opting to see MGMT again instead of seeing Nine Inch Nails, who apparently aren't touring in the US again any time soon. MGMT was pretty disappointing, lacking to pump up the massive crowd gathered in front of the That Tent. And of course, I had to see the festival's finale: a 3 1/2 hour Phish jam fest. Not really my thing, but I had to see that shit.

I even saw Triumph the Insult Comic Dog out walking around!

Hands down, though, the best performance was by the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Karen O's energy radiated throughout Centeroo. She is definitely one of the best performers I've ever seen. She was able to connect with the audience and hit us all with a wave of intense excitement. If you ever have the chance, you must see them for yourself. And get up close!

(Plus did I mention the badass all seeing set and her wicked outfits??)

Have any of you been to Bonnaroo?

What concerts are you planning on seeing this summer?
