Slipknot's 2008 " All Hope Is Gone " Album.....

                                        Visit Slipknot's Myspace   www.myspace.com/slipknot

It's xmissthingx here with a new subject to talk about....the insane, dark, heavy, twisted motherfuckers of Slipknot.I bet you didn't know that I listened to Kim Sozzi,Ian Van Dahl,Iio,Lasgo,Q.E.D,Paul Van Dyk,Armin Van Buuren & 4 Strings then turn right around and listen to Slipknot,Slayer,Soilwork,Soulfly,Exodus,Korn,Pantera,Arch Enemy,Lacuna Coil and As I Lay Dying....weird huh ? Almost creepy ? I'm slightly torn between Dance And Metal is what I tell people.I have no explanation for my completely different  favorite music combination.I love many different types of music so you can only imagine what type of fucked personality I have ( haha ).Now let's get down to business over the next few months I'll be reviewing cds, bands, music ( so keep on the look out for more of album reviews ).Slipknot's one of my favorite metal bands, nearing the top of my list. After buying and falling twistedly in love with their 2004 album " Vo.3 : The Subliminal Verses " new their next one would be just as rockin'.My favorites from were Vermillion Pt.2,Danger-Keep Away,Scream,The Namelss......and that's not even all of them because I practically loved the whole damn album. And because I did I was already impatiently anxious for their next album which happen to come August 2008.I was at Best Buy's on the 26th and picked it up.And probably no surprise but I LOVED it ! Something was different about this album, they went above and far behind their means this time. The album just had this dark, hardcore vibe to it and I fucking loved it ! The songs were so heavy,so metal than at times so sick,so evilly slow and alluring.I loved it.And I'm pretty sure all you other Slipknot fans loved it too.So here's what I'm going to do.I'm going,in order, list each song of  the " All Hope Is Gone " album and beneath the song tell you why I liked it.So here we go.....

" ALL HOPE IS GONE "

1.Execute

*I think it's a great beginning for " All Hope Is Gone".I like that it starts off low then as the song goes on it gets louder than the guitar comes in then Joey shines with the drums and Corey screams at the end.It rocks.

2.Gematria ( The Killing Name )

*The beat was one of my favorite things about the song.My other favorite thing about this song is when Corey Taylor  says " And we will burn your cities down ",I love the way he growls that shit. And I just love the chrous,my other favorite thing about the song.

3.Sulfur

*On this perticuliar song I really liked the way Corey Taylor delivered the verses. So ' in your face ' type shit. And I really dig the chorus...I love when he sings ( when he growls even more )

4.Pyschosocial

*One of my very fucking favorite songs off the album. The first time I heard it I loved it before it even got to the chorus like " Sulfur " I really freakin' loved the way Taylor delivered the verses. So hardcore,so heavy...I just love when he growls and this was my favorite song he did growling on.Not to mention I loved the chorus. You know how on some songs you like the verses and not the chorus or not the bridge ? Well on this song I loved everything.Especially the beat and melody.

5.Dead Memories

*Another favorite off the album. It's one of the not so heavy, lighter songs on the album ( slipknot can go heavy or not and still rock ).The beat's awesome as hell....reminds me of  their 2004 hit Duality which I say is good because it lets me know the they're level of style is growing but they're not losing their sound which defines and make them Slipknot. But don't get me wrong Dead Memories has a mind of it's own and is a one-of-a-kind piece. It's a great song....with emotion. And I really appreictae songs with emotion metal or not. It's just an awesome song.I love it!

6.Vendetta

*Now I'm a lover of heavy fuckin' shit.I love hard, hardcore songs and Vendetta's just one of those heavy, cool songs.I love the bridge " Let's Pretend "...

7.Butcher's Hook

*On this record Sid got to really shine with his d-jaying skills.I mean you could hear his work on the other songs, they made sure not to leave him out but on this one I really heard his work and it really made the song.Thumbs up Sid ( 0 ) you did your thing awesomely ! Not only did Sid help make a really rockin'song but the freakin' chorus....god I love the chorus. It was so different but then had a touch of old Slipknot's sound mixed with they're new style...I LOVE this damn song!!! And once again frontman/vocalist Corey Taylor delivered the verses with anger and ' middle finger to the world ' attitude.

8.Gehenna

*Another daily played, numerous song on my computer media player Gehenna.I loved the song before it even finished playing all the way through.First of all....the beat.I'm a real metal beat-lover and I really, really love this motherfucking beat! Just the beat had me but then the song went on and I liked what I heard...the verses.Very dark, dark, misty verses with Corey's one-of -a-kind,uncommon vocals performing the song awesomely. That's not it.....the song went on and I heard the chorus...the goddamn chorus just wrapped it up for me.I loved the damn song and it quickly became another of my most played and most loved off the album....." Free my severed heart...give me to you...."...

9.This Cold Black

*Great chorus...love the guitar solo and Jordison made his mark with his drumming. The bridge was one of my most liked parts of the song.

10.Wherein Lies Continue

*I love when Corey says " We have to save ourselves "....and.." The Endindg's the same, the world will not change. Also, the beat rocked as well.

11.Snuff

*As much as I love fast, hard Slipknot songs that gets you pumped and ready to jump around and break shit I love slow, soft, twisted Slipknot songs.Snuff is really one of my very favorites. It expresses passion,love,sadness,hurt,tears....and better yet emotion. It's simply a beautiful song...I love depressing songs and this screams sorrow and pain.It made me wanna cry.The beat was uncommon and brillant with lyrics that were intelligently thought up and placed then...delivered....GREAT,great song. Also it made me think of nighttime ahaha...weird huh ?   ( Reminds me of Vermillion Pt.2 a very close favorite to my heart )

12.All Hope Is Gone

*A song on an album that's entitled the same thing as the entire album usually is a good song and this one.....It gets me all jumpy and makes me bang my head,it's a good song.Like a song that speaks for the entire album...definitely an awesome song!

13.Child Of Burning Time

*I love that he whispers in the beginning that's sexy.I love the way Corey's singing in it and I really love the chorus...it rocks! It make me thinks of crazy shit.

14.Til We Die

*The meldoy FUCKING rocks! I love the lyrics, epspecially the lyrics and the beat.AWESOME AWESOME.....one of my favorites! The guitar solos were mersmerizing and I love the ending....another GREAT song!

15.Vermillion Pt.2

*You all already know how much I LOVED Vermillion Pt.2. off of their 2004 " Vol.3 : The Subliminal Verses"....and they put it on here so that's awesome....it's a different version and I must admit I like the original version the best. You can never beat an original !

So there you go.15 songs off of Slipknot's 2008 "All Hope Is Gone "album ( which is IN STORES NOW...I highly recommend it so go pick you up a copy or two for a metal-loving friend or relative ).I must say Slipknot really has out done themselves with this entire record.Other bands that put out albums in 2008 decreased from their last albums but not Slipknot. They've increased. While everyone is changin and singing differently, trying new sounds,in new genres Slipknot has stayed true to themselves and they're style and they're music while improving ( even though they had nothing to improve ).With every Slipknot album there's always something to look forward to.Something new, something fresh, something modern and 2008....not 2002 not 1955.My band ( as I usually prefer to them as ) are a unique, special kind-of a band. They are really something and if you're not a Slipknot fan then,my friend, you're missing out on some awesome, awesome metal music. My band put Des Moines,Iowa on the map and I'm sure everyone back home is very proud and honored. You guys are fucking great and us Slipknot fans love you like hell ! You should be proud of yourselves for all the hard work you put into this album because it was a great album, made my favorite albums of the 21st Century  ( 2000-2009 ) List, that I'm going to post at the end of the year, and I'm very fuckin' picky ( hahah ).Hope to meet you someday !

The benefits of being a Slipknot Fan

Looking forward to see how they've changed their masks every 3 to 4 years, witnessing they're insane, interesting live performances, having hundreds of great songs to love and connect to,having 9 personalities put their heart and soul into a band and it comes out as this album......

Discussion: The Weirdest Baby Names of 2008

Courtesy of: Yahoo.com

-Remember the uproar over Gwyneth Paltrow naming her daughter Apple? That seems downright quaint in 2008. Check out the new additions in the category of quirkiest baby names:

___

BRONX MOWGLI: This year's most unusual moniker, courtesy of Pete Wentz and Ashlee Simpson-Wentz. He grew up near Chicago and she hails from Texas -- yet, inexplicably, the rock-star couple named their son after one of the toughest boroughs in New York City. Giving some insight, Wentz revealed the middle name Mowgli was inspired by the scrappy boy hero of Disney's "The Jungle Book."

___

SUNDAY ROSE: Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban welcomed their baby girl on a Monday, then named her for the day before. Kidman has said Sunday is the couple's favorite day of the week because it can be both lonely and happy depending on whether "you've got your family" around. They also found inspiration in Aussie art collector Sunday Reed, whose first name Kidman's father suggested as a possibility. The baby's second name is a tribute to Urban's grandmother, Rose.

___

ZUMA NESTA ROCK: When he's old enough, Gwen Stefani's baby boy might want to change his first name to something that sounds less like a certain clear malt beverage and lose the other two names altogether. Then again, a child raised by music royalty -- Stefani and hubby Gavin Rossdale -- might fully embrace a moniker that spells nothing but embarrassment for regular kids. Stefani grew up in Southern California and loves Jamaican culture, which might explain her choice of Zuma (a beach in Malibu) and Nesta (the middle name of reggae legend Bob Marley).

___

HONOR MARIE: An honorable mention -- sorry, we couldn't resist -- goes to the daughter of Jessica Alba and her husband, Cash Warren. Honor should get a lifetime of instant respect, based on her first name alone. Latin in origin, Honor means "woman of honor" and denotes glory, dignity and high rank.

___

BUSTER TIMOTHY: The name Buster has been around a long time -- all the way back to the silent film era when comic actor Buster Keaton used sight gags to get laughs. The moniker struck a chord with married actors Jonny Lee Miller and Michele Hicks, who chose to name their son Buster Timothy. The couple balanced the quirkiness with a way more traditional second name.

Now let's just hope that Gerard Way and Lyn-Z will NOT give their baby a weird name!

And, thankfully, the handsome Mark Walhberg doesn't have weird names for his kids. =)

And let me hear your thoughts on this! Are there any other celebrity baby's that have weird baby names that make you wanna blurt out "WTFOMG!!??" *cough*Zahara*cough*? XD

[and i'll parden Surie Cruise...for some reason..i'm fine with it? but if you wanna list it, go ahead!]

Google and Yahoo Merger?

No, but Google and Yahoo are in talks to incorporate the Google Ad-Sense Advertising techniques to the Yahoo search engines and other Yahoo owned programs.  Currently Google is responsible for 70% of all advertisements put out online.  Yahoo owns about 20%, while the other 10% is made up of individual advertising firms.

Vice President of Google, Omid Kordestani, stated that Google already provides a similar service to Ask.com and AOL.  This means that Google would be responsible for all advertising on Ask, AOL and Yahoo, the three largest search engines excluding Google of course.

Yahoo states “Advertisers will pay Google directly for each click on Google paid search results appearing on Yahoo owned and operated network or certain affiliate sites. Google will share a percentage of such revenue with Yahoo”.

The only problem that arises here is the issue of a monopoly.  Microsoft is Google’s biggest threat.  Microsoft is willing to take Google to court, on the premise that Google is becoming a monopoly, and that it owns more than 90% of all advertising from the internet.  Google’s position is that it is the internet, and advertising, and that they aren’t technically a monopoly yet, since 10% is still unaccounted for.
