May 26, 2009Rockbridge Leader Weekend 2009We just got back from Young Life leader weekend in Rockbrdige, VA last night. The weekend was awesome but it feels good to be home and recover. My body and mind are both tired from all the activity and long drive. It's a weekend where all the leaders in our region (about 700) go to one of the summer camps to be trained, spend time, and worship together. This weekend was probably the best one that I can remember. We met 6 times over the weekend for a teaching and some singing in worship. It's always a strange experience - a room full of 700 college students with their hip Crumpler bags and rainbow sandals. Then usually some staff people come out to do program meaning they're wearing medieval armour or a nerd suit or some other crazy thing and entertain us for a bit. Sometimes it's wildly offensive and sometimes it's just not funny. Then we awkwardly transition into some singing to lead into a talk. This weekend was a really different experience for me though. Firstly, there really was no program. They showed a couple funny videos but they were short and forgettable. Matt Garrsion, one of the speakers was incredible. And the musicians that led the singing in worship were extremely talented. They took songs that usually come across as really corny and bad to me and gave them life so that I really was able to worship through them. It was a really great weekend that I hope is characteristic of the direction the weekends are going in the future.

December 23, 2008Desmond Pringle Brings James Cleveland Back!Well, not physically, but on his latest CD, 'Be Still', the Chicago-based gospel crooner manipulates the mixing board to sing a duet with the late King James, just as Natalie sang "Unforgettable" with her father Nat, and Hank Williams, Jr. duetted with his father Hank, Sr. on one of the latter's unreleased acetates. The song Pringle selects for his otherworldly duet is James' "Jesus is the Best Thing," a reading of the Jim Weatherly composition originally recorded by Gladys Knight as "Best Thing That Ever Happened to Me" but with more sacred covers than secular by this point. The scratchy vinyl backdrop provides the appropriate context to the interpolation of James' shout-inducing singing and Desmond's smoky baritone. "Jesus is the Best Thing" is being made available as a free mp3 download "'Jesus is the Best Thing' is a standout track from Desmond Pringle's eye-opening 'Be Still' album. In this song, Desmond trades vocals with the legendary James Cleveland and creates a powerful masterpiece. Interspersed with static and live crowd noise, the song starts off in intriguing fashion. When the dueling vocals kick in, the awe-inspiring experience is taken to a whole different level. This is gospel music at its finest; this is over six minutes of pure bliss!" - Eric Hartline, MusicDish Desmond Pringle Websites:

April 26, 2008Singapore: Blink Blink bind bind PartySingapore, 26 April 2008. The theme "Blink blink & Bind Bind: time to find Your slaves and your Dominant" was a blend of fashion and fetish. It allowed people who are novices in SM to see how easy it was to bring in everyday accessories into SM play.
This is how this party worked. Slaves & subs wore two metal bangles one on each hand. Dominants brought locks with them and if they found a sub of their licking the place the lock on their chosen subs bangles.
Sounds simple and easy? It is but the ice had to be broken first. We were very lucky that night since we were given a private party space on the third floor. The room was provided us with better intimacy. The group was little nervous and shy at first. That quickly changed when the locks started being issued out. There's just something inexplicably erotic about locking up a sub's bangles and seeing their submissive demeanor thereafter.
What ensued after the locking up ceremony was a Saturday worth looking forward to. Every got a taste of being a Dominant or submissive in a game of chance.
Crops, chains, canes, ropes, gags, and whatever else that comes to the mind of our Mistresses and Masters were used to put the sub in their rightful place. There were spanking, foot worship, boot worship, caning, bondage, gagging, hog-tie, extreme bondage, and many more fun SM adventures throughout the night. No rest of the wicked!!

December 5, 2007WTF IS UP WITH WEIGHT?Seriously. i mean, there are three weight categories in the pop culture world: anorexic, skinny, and fat. but is there really someone who can rant about healthy weights and actually have one? that would be hard. but i'll start off with mine (and YES, i have a healthy weight. ) as a recovering anorexic myself, when you see people write stuff like that, you wonder how in the world they can be so thin when they're writing stuff like that. and everytime you're eating, you wonder-'they probably don't eat this and stay like that.' and then you don't eat it. it's the saying "actions speak louder than words" comes into play. when you're in that state, you don't see those words. you see the numbers. the pictures. but i've finally seen the big picture. you have to be an asshole to judge someone by their weight, let alone overall appearance. but that's what everyone is obsessed with. celebrity worship. if someone's pretty, then OMG! you'll worship everything they say. no matter how dumb it is. When it gets to the point where people are physically torturing themselves for an image, it's just dumb. okay, what i'm basically trying to say is that, if you're going to talk about how you shouldn't care about being skinny, please make sure that you actually have a healthy weight first.
[PS; if you don't like my rants, then um. sorry dolls. i'm not like this all the time. i've just had a bad day and am letting out in a good cause]
