Will Smith may star in next Spielberg flick; alternate 'Legend' ending

We're rolling up all your Will Smith news into one post: Smith is saying he's in talks with Steven Spielberg to appear in Chicago 7, Spielberg's account of the protests at the 1968 Democratic Convention. In the same interview, he also states that the DVD for I Am Legend will contain a "less commercial" ending.

I'll deal with the 'Legend' ending in a second.

I'm stoked to hear Smith might be involved with Chicago 7. I think it's a fascinating subject and moment in our history and I really hope Spielberg doesn't botch this up.

But whatever. I must move on to the revelation that the I Am Legend DVD will have an alternate ending that's different from the one in the movie. I won't spoil it for those who haven't seen it, but if you have: Good Lord, it is terrible. After such a fascinating and bleak movie, the ending beats you over the head with heavy-handed symbolism and a lack of any realism. It's almost as if the final 5 minutes were written by someone else.

If the ending changes to something that makes sense within the framework of the the film, I'll probably like it more.

With any luck, Chicago 7 will be a musical.
That's what I liked about the wole movie, was it's storybookness (not a word, but you get the gist) It's based on a book, soi I expected it to pan out perfectly, like every single move has a point...even the ones you barely notic...it's not good in a normal sense, it's like literally looking at something someone made up put into film...does that make any sense at all? I like how it's so unreal....and in it's own way, everything in the movie is just peachy....
man, I seriously need to pay attention in English....
