featured THE REAL MOONWALK.....40 YEARS AGO THIS MONTH
On the evening of Sunday, July 20th 1969, more than 1 billion people around the world huddled around their TV sets to watch the landing of a man on the moon. On the Lunar plain known as the Sea of Tranquillity sat Eagle the Lunar Excursion Module. Inside, pilot Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin Jr. performed duties on his checklist. Overhead, 70 miles above the cratered terrian, Command Modular Pilot Michael Collins orbited the moon in Columbia, the craft that would eventually return the astronauts back to Earth.
But the world watched as Commander Neil Armstrong descended from the Grumman built LEM [that was built in the town I was living in] And at 10:56 pm Armstrong stepped off the ladder. As his boot touched the soil of our nearest cosmic neighbor, he spoke the words that will live forever "ONE SMALL STEP FOR MAN, ONE GIANT LEAP FOR MANKIND" The world cheered, a man was actually standing on the moon.
I did this photo to celebrate this milestone in history except Tiny Mr.Potato Head takes the place of Neil Armstrong !!!!
PAIGIE AND ISKA had the closest guesses,,,,,,,,And the others who were following are eyelinersmudge, sappysuperunknown, LeaV, kokodril and Candle1988

I can't believe it's been 40 years...oh wait...I wasn't alive then... :D I just find it amazing we haven't been back yet, whats up with that? :D
it still amazes me that we even got there in the first place. like okay, there's this big, glowing ball up in the sky at night..and we like, actually GOT THERE and walked around and stuff. i mean, whoa. just shows what amazing things we can do when we put our minds to it.
