Buzznet Watches The Watchmen
With only a few short weeks to go until the much-hyped Zack Snyder adaptation of Watchmen debuts around the world, Buzznet can't help but put on a happy face. We've got an official group for fans of the comic (and those anticipating a movie version), as well as a whole slew of news posted by Buzznet members!
In a slightly grudging nod to Zack Snyder's decision to change the controversial ending of Watchmen, Buzznet's official group for the movie/comic is called Mourn The Squid. That's right--a large group of nerds really wanted to see a psychic squid drop onto New York City and litter the streets with bloody corpses. Alas, this shall not happen. Join the group to mourn this cinematic error and then celebrate everything else that Snyder gets right.
Warner Bros. has released the final 30 press photos from the film, including a set of comic frame comparison shots, which is apparently their way of suggesting that Snyder is sticking to the graphic novel more than we thought. (Except for the ending, of course.) For example:

I love you, Rorshach.

And my other favorite character, Night Owl! Not bad, Snyder, not bad.
Our own BulletProofHeeb attended New York Comic-Con and got a chance to see 13 minutes of the film. (The lovely Alan Sepinwall said it was 18 minutes, but whatever it actually was, it was more than I've seen.) His review is brief, but it seems to confirm my worst fears of the adaptation: that Zack Snyder's annoying slow-frame technique is going to kill an otherwise wonderful film.
If you haven't seen it yet, the trailer for Tales Of The Black Freighter has been released as of last week. (It's the comic inside of Watchmen that the boy reads at the newspaper stand.) It's animated and narrated by Gerard Butler. Check it!
Watchmen comes out on March 6th! Expect more updates if we learn anything new about the film. I'll have a review posted on March 6th. (I scored midnight tickets!)

I hope there are some movie reviews to read on Buzznet. I now need to search for when it's coming out in the UK (normally we're about a month behind).
I'm ridiculously, stupidly phenomenally excited about all of this! After seeing what The Heeb had to say and looking at those comparison pictures you posted, my hopes that the movie will be at least a decent homage to the original source material is somewhat restored.
So for me to even consider wanting to do that, it must be a good movie. I never really read the comics, but ahh well!
but yea...i dont have anyone to go with either soo.....=/
:)
It's on my list of films to see.
