My First Warped Tour Experience.
Ok, so my friend Lindsey spent the night and we basically set up a bed in my room for her, put the Goonies in my computer and went to sleep. We woke up at 7 so we could leave at like 7:30 and be there at 8...but our ride was late...by like 2 hours. It was ten before our ride got there. We got there around 10:30ish. So Lindsey and I see a long line so we go to it and we start talking to the people in line with us. We were actually making fun of the Millionairs. LOL. Then I see Kennedy and Pat with their sign, but they were really far away and I was going to yell at them but they left. :( Then like this guy comes and tells us that the line we are in is for VIP or something like that. So like the whole end of the line, including us, had to walk all the way across the parking lot. :P So we get in line and we are talking then these two guys come up to us. We listen to their music buy a CD. Once again, make fun of the Millionairs and then they left. Then another band came up to us and we talked to them bought a CD made fun of BrokenCYDE/Millionairs and then they left. So the line is moving along and then this other guy comes up to us and give us a book on like stress relief and stuff...it was weird. O_O
So we finally get inside and we have NO IDEA where to go. We end up walking around and FINALLY find the Hurley stage and what do you know? The Maine is about to play. I ended up being on the side towards the front of the stage. It was crazy. But John Ohhh was hung over so...he was barely singing. :/ I still love the Maine anyways and it was a good show. Man I love Jared's guitar solo! OH! And (BTW this is the second time it has happened, and I was there for that one also) a girl got proposed to on stage. AWE! It so sweet. I wished they didn't play at 11:30am. I wasn't really pumped just really hot and confused. It was a miracle that we actually found the stage. After The Maine we walked around. Got loads of free stuff. Got stopped by a total of 12 bands talk to them and had a good time. We watched like 5-15 min. of some random bands. (3OH!3, Big D, Alexisonfire, Jeffree Star, Dance Gavin Dance and literally random bands.) We only sat and watched full sets of 5 other bands.
We saw The Blackout which is a group from the UK/Whales...OH MY GOD. They were AMAZING. I LOVED THEM. If they are on your Warped Tour GO SEE THEM. One of the lead singers can wail like no other(blonde)! They are now one of my new favorite bands. We saw There for Tomorrow. I never really liked them, but now I do. They are really good live! I totally forget this other band that we saw, but they were great also! My friend bought their CD so when I know what they are called I will tell you!
Ok so I don't know how it is for other venues, but the Hurley.com Stage and the Smartpunk Stage shared a big stage. They split it in half. So, Hurley.com would play then Smartpunk, then back to Hurley.com and so on. So after Dance Gavin Dance got done we made our way to the pit and I made it so there was only one person in front of us! VERY FRONT BABY! A Rocket to the Moon was playing next on the Smartpunk stage....but before them on the Hurley.com stage...was the Millionairs. I guess I deserved that for talking crap about them most of the day with other bands. :/ Anyways it was so funny because the half that was infront of the Smartpunk stage was all like ugh! This isn't music. LOL. The best part was is that during one of there songs Justin, Nick, and Halvo all danced. HALVO DID THE BOOTY POP/shake thing! Like, Beyonce style! I hope someone got it on tape, because it was priceless. OH MY GAH! I love him even more for doing the booty pop! <3 So finally when the Millionslutsaires were done it was time for A Rocket To The Moon. The first song they played was Dakota (my favorite song) and it was epic. It was so great because almost everyone in the crowd knew the song and you could see all of their (Justin, Nick, Halvo) faces light up because we all new it. We are now the best place they have played. WOO HOO! I really love them all (not in the creepy way) and it was just so great to see them. <3 Oh, and I made eye contact with Halvo like a million (not really but a lot) times. *O* It made my night. :))))))))))) Ok so during one of their songs you know, I'm jumping singing along and then like BAM Pat Kirch is basically (as in he landed kind of in front to the left of me) beside me. I was all WTF? I think he crowd surfed all the way to the front. It was crazy. Gotta love Pat.
All in all it was a great time. Allthoug my feet hurt, I got really dirty, and spent at least $100, Warped Tour is now the day of my year.
Oh, and this is the only sad part. I didn't get to meet ANYONE. (I'm so sorry Alexa! I was so mad at myself for missing all the signings! But A Rocket To The Moon is coming back after the tour, so I can meet them there and get them to sign something for you!) I don't think you understand how confusing the venue was! I totally missed The Maine signing, the Sing It Loud signing, The 3OH!3 signing, The Chiodos Signing, and the This Century performance! I am so mad. We would go looking and would never be able to find anything. I think they should have set it up better though. Like we eventually found were The MAINE had their signing and it was at the polor opposite of where their merch was. Same for the This Century performance. It seemed like people were just like Oh, look here is an empty spot let me put my tent here!
Next year will be better though. We will be able to drive with out a legal adult needing to be present, which means getting there early. We are thinking about camping out a day before! LOL. I don't know if they would let us, probably not, but we might try! But really, next year we are going to get there at 7am (at the least) we have decided. Although, there is a chance we will be there later then that. :)
I think one thing that I realized, is that when going to things like Warped you shouldn't expect anything out of it except tons of fun. You know? Like, don't expect to know where everything is. Don't expect to be able to see all your favorite bands. And don't expect to meet the people you want to meet. I think it was good I went with Lindsey because she didn't know any of the bands so it was easy to just move on when I couldn't meet the people I wanted to meet.
I am probably missing a lot of things. But that is all that is in my mind right now. I am about to post pictures! :D
UGH! I CAN'T WAIT UNTIL NEXT YEAR! :D
