It's a hard decision either way. If they can't successfully monitor and make sure that students don't have them for the wrong reasons, I guess it would probably make sense to allow them all (or at least those who have passed a psychological exam) to carry. Perhaps with some kind of visible tag stating that they are armed and permitted to be? Either way has its risks and potential benefits.
come on anyone with a gun is asking for trouble,, even if there is a problem, people pulling guns on other people wouldn't be the answer,, hell any of the people in my school with guns,, we'd all be dead already
back when I was in High School (late 80s), kids would have guns in their cars (most were hunters/outdoorsmen), and some even carried knives in school. Nothing ever bad happened back then. It is truely scary what kids nowadays do... they think it's ok to lash out at anybody and everybody when they're picked on or feel alienated.
how would this hel anything? it would just lead to more accidents or situations that aren't accidents. gun crime is bad enough as it is. i say more screening for weapons in schools everywhere.

To the clueless little girls who're posting here: States with concealed carry have enjoyed reduced violent crime. Not so for states without. Anyone with a gun is NOT trouble. Bad guys with guns are trouble. Good guys with guns are a godsend. CHL holders are the most law abiding people out there, and they're the ones we're talking about allowing on campus with guns. Look around you, if you aren't in a liberal Hellhole like California or New york city or (God forbid) Chicago, chances are someone in the immediate area is packing. Go look up the Florida Crime stats and see just how absolutely wrong you are.

If the police cant protect the students they must protect themselves. Gun owners respect guns
and people. If they are good enough to carry on the street why not on Campus. People
proficient with guns do not have accidents with, only the ignorant of gun handling have accidents. Just think how many would have been saved if some at Virgina Tech could have shot the killer. What are the statistic in Utah. If they are good enough to carry a gun in Iraq and defend our country why can't they defend there friend and themselves.
Have most colleges these days been taking many measures to prevent gunfire/carrying on campus in the first place?
