Ventura County is Burning

Many readers are submitting photos of the wildfires burning around Los Angeles and Ventura Counties on the Ventura County Star photoblog. In Friday's print version of the paper, they will run several of the Buzznet photos along side the staff photos. Yet another example of the excellent photos that you find on Buzznet.  Be sure to check the VC Star's homepage to see the pictures and read more about the fires.

there are some tremendously talented photographers on buzznet. I love that new media and old media are coming together like this! You're a visionary Marc Brown.

We are far from the fires, but there is a lot of smoke in Los Angeles.

might seem hard hearted of me to steer from the real issue here.
But i hope the owners of these images are being made aware their images are being used in a publication whos sole purpsoe is to sell copies and thus make money.
....and so being rewarded for their efforts i.e money

I've lived through forest fires all around me. And didn't leave my house till a mile wide wall of fire was 1/4 mile away, sounded like a jet engine as it sucked in oxygen, and embers were falling at my feet. It's not a fun thing to go through.

But I saw some of the prettiest sunsets I'd ever seen in California during the fires.
