HARD Summer Didn't Have It So Easy

Hard Summer was supposed to be the ultimate electronic dance party of Summer 2009, with a booty-shaking lineup that included DJ AM and Crystal Castles. Unfortunately, the event's sold-out venue (the Forum in Inglewood) couldn't handle the 18,000 wanna-be ravers who showed up and the dance party was shut down before the big acts could even hit the stage. Who pooped the party?

Hard Summer 2009 Shut Down

Hard Summer was scheduled to be one of the biggest dance parties this year. Underworld, Chromeo, Crystal Castles, Crookers, The Bloody Beetroots, and several others rounded out the line up. Little did anyone know, we were in for one disaster of a night.

The night started out in a cluster fuck. Thousands of confused fans circled The Forum in Inglewood, CA looking for entrances and will call pick up. With will-call being the only free option provided by Groovetickets and Ticketmaster, it showed to be a problem in itself, with hundreds of people lined up just to pick up their tickets. These problems were a mere glimpse of what was to come.

The sets got off to a good start with Busy P spinning on the main stage as the crowd flowed in. Having Hard Summer at The Forum was a huge mistake. The set up inside the venue was a complete failure. There were 2 aisles dedicated for floor entry and another 2 for floor exit. As Crystal Castles started their lackluster set with overuse of feedback and Alice Glass’ obnoxious shriek the floor had reached capacity, leaving angered fans stuck in the aisles. This didn’t stop fans from finding a way down to the floor. With about a 15 foot drop between the seats and the floor, people started jumping over the railing. Security scrambled to clear the aisles and to stop the fans from jumping down.

After Crystal Castles set, an unknown man on stage urged the crowd to settle down and find there way to a seat so that the music could continue. An hour had passed and the people in the sound booth began to pack up their equipment. This was a sure sign that this was being shut down. Riot police strapped with tear gas and batons filled the front of the floor and began to push the crowd back towards the exits. Hard Summer was officially over.

Gary Richards, the promoter of Hard, issued this statement via Twitter earlier today, “Full refund will be made available for those who purchased tickets to HARD SUMMER more info coming ASAP.”

Underworld: Rise Of The Lycans

Okay! Just came back from seeing the new underworld movie was Freakin' Awesome! Loved it! I hate this one part, when Lucian sees Sonia die infront of him, i must say it made me cry cuz no one should see their loved one die right infront them. It's so sad. I love the fight scene near the end, it's Freakin' Awesome! Yeah! Anyway, i recamend(not even sure if i spelled that right) to watch this movie. It's very good...

Underworld 3 Trailer: Just in Time For Halloween

So, before Stephenie Meyer put out Twilight, there was another vampire versus werewolves franchise that she probably didn't know about, given her documented dislike of horror movies.  She reportedly couldn't sit through the TV edit of Interview with the Vampire and finds The Lost Boys genuinely scary.

...ooookay.

So odds are she's not familiar with the Underworld series, where vampires and werewolves/lycans also have a longstanding feud.  The first two films starred Kate Beckinsale and Scott Speedman as a vampire and a werewolf who fall in love, which isn't supposed to happen.  Very Romeo and Juliet with supernatural creatures and a lot more cursing.

Underworld 3, however, will serve as a prequel to the other movies and will explore characters that were actually killed off in the other two.  It will be a period piece, set when vampires and lycans got along...in that way where vampires enslaved lycans and lycans just went with it.

Beckinsale and Speedman obviously won't be involved since it's before their characters' times, but Michael Sheen, Bill Nighy and Shane Brolly will all reprise their roles from the earlier films.  Joining the cast will be Rhona Mitra who will be playing Sonja, a character who's influence on the Vampire and Lycan war is pretty huge.

Here's the trailer:

What to do...

What to do on days like these. How inviting death appears to be this morning. But I know that if I'm dead I'll never even get a chance to meet my 'alive heros' and when I'm dead I'll meet my 'dead heros' anyway.

The current situation as it stands is a messy one. Why is it so appealing to stare into an empty bottle only to pick up another. It seems that those who are in a bad state always come out the other much better off than they were originally. More poetic. More real. Funnier. Understandable. Popular. To name a few would only give them credit for things other people cope with every day.

Is it brave to carry on your life and move on? As it stands we applaud those who've overcome drug and alcohol problems, they have a higher standard of respect than others who are strong enough not to turn to drugs and alcohol.

So who's stronger? The man that is strong enough to overcome his problems and move on or the man that tumbles in an underworld of pleasures and can pull themselves out of it only when the pleasure has turned to pain.

For the Workforce Drowning - June 20, 2008

I've yet to understand my sleeping pattern. Every night I lie in bed quickly falling asleep at wee hours of the night, but every morning just as the sun creeps through my window I'm quick to rise to the day. This lack of sleep is driving me insane. It leaves me tired and weak all throughout the day. I feel bad for my girlfriend. She has to put up with me being so lazy. I want to go out and have fun, but I don't have the energy to do so. Now that I no longer have to wake up early for school, I can only hope that my sleeping habits return to normal. Anyways, enough about sleep. I have to work today. Eh, I'm not too excited about that. It's no biggie though, it's not like it's hard work (even though I deserver to get paid more). I can't stop thinking about next week. My girlfriend is leaving to Washington for a week, and I can't help but worry. I have this problem of thinking that the worst possible scenario is going to happen. It kills me and I would hate to make anyone else feel the same, especially her. It's going to be tough not seeing her for so long, but I'm sure I can manage. As long as I know she's okay, then I'll be fine. I'm getting sick of this weather. I hate clicking on my dashboard (I'm on a Mac) and seeing the weather. It's like a sick joke as I see the sun high above me laughing in my face. Todays high, 105. I'm pretty sure I don't want to go outside and do anything. Thank you heat. Oh how I miss you Fall. Remember the good times we had? When I could get in my car, put the top down and not have any worries. I'm sure those days are long gone. Here's some stuff I've been listening to. I recommend checking some of it out, you might like it! The Cure - Out of this World Ever since I saw them play this at the Shrine Auditorium at the beginning of the month I've been obsessed. It sends chills running down my body as a grin forms on my face. You can't go wrong with Robert Smith. Underworld - Mmm...Skyscraper I Love You (Jam Scraper) Sorry, no video for this. My god is this song beautiful! It is so relaxing. It is perfect for a late night drive. I encourage everyone to try and find this song. It's an epic masterpiece. Well I suppose that's enough for now. I hope everyone has a good day. Remember to stay hydrated. Peace...

Selene v Bella: Who wins?

I for one think that Selene is a great role model for women, and I'm sick of views of women being illustrated merely as play things. Its also high time we got a fair view of vampires as not merely sparkle p33ned lovers, but as the highly evolved killing machines they are.

 Selene from Underworld

Bella from Twilight

Status:Vampire with genetic mutation, allowing her to go in sunlightHuman, wants to be a vampire that dazzles in the sunlight
Birth time and placeBorn sometime in the 16th Century in rural Hungary. (Yet has remarkably modern approach to relationahips, bossing Michael around and not thinking twice about having passionate sex in a trailer before marriage)Modern day middle America. (Yet has remarkably allowed Edward to treat her like 1950's housewife)
Relationships:Currently shacks up with a buff Vampire/Lycan hybrid. Boyfriend leaves dents in cars.In ridiculous love triangle between sparkle peened vampire (Edward) and werewolf (Jacob). Boyfriend leavs dents in cars.
AppearanceLeather clad, striking eyes, beautiful featuresTeenaged casual, remarkably plain
Reason for wanting to be a vampireTo avenge the gruesome murder of her family by lycansTo be with her lover for eternity
SkillzSuperhuman physical abilites- a lean, mean fighting machine. Skilled with a variety of weapons, including swords, guns, and explosives. Is also skilled in torture and martial arts.Is apparently bookish, although its hard to tell. Bella's skillz also include to trip on a gust of wind & the ability to out whine Morrissey. (Credit to skintight)
Can't live withoutBloodEdward
Approach to conflictDoes not wait to be saved; kills now/summons ancient vampires and asks questions later. Has slain the most powerful vampire Viktor and the oldest vampire Markus.
Waits to be saved by someone else, always male.
Thoughts on werewolves/LycansKill him.Debates with self about whether to date him
If her breaks got cut......its probably someone fighting the Lycan/Vampire war or avenging her renigade ways...its because Edwards loves her
Current WhereaboutsOn the run, in hope of leading a rebellion against corrupt vampiresWaiting around for Edward to marry her and take her virtue.

Who pwns harder?
