In the Kotel Tunnels -- closer to the Holy of Holies, and therefore a more spiritual spot than in the square outside.

One at a time, the girls entered the tunnel that led to the first cave.

We went through the tunnel. It was beautifully constructed, but I couldn't see anything until I looked at the photos. It was pitch black inside. That's why the girls are all feeling their way along the walls.

Coming into the cave was like re-entering the womb, going back into the earth of our home, Israel. With eyes open in wonder and little help from her friends (Shuli on the left and Rivke Eisenbach on the right), Chana emerges from the tunnel and steep hole into the cave.

With a little help from Rivke Eisenbach (on the right), Jill makes it up through the hole into the cave.

We all climbed up into the cave through this hole. You can see the bottom where there's a red speck. We climbed through a long dark tunnel and then up through a hole to get into the cave. You can see the water and where it's worn the rock away.

So we went into the tunnel and went exploring, but it was way too gross to go very far. I mean, it was seriously spider webs and slugs everywhere. If I had been dressed better I might not have cared so much.
