March 20, 2009

I Marched and sang my song "Hated" on Westwood for International Womens day March 7th!!

Well, First off I have to say that it was great to see the many faces that came out to the March 7th. It seemed that there were many who were unaware that the was a March to be had but when they realized who we were and what we were marching for, the tone changed in a way that brought light and gratitude for what we were doing. Some even joined in on the March.

I was first introduce to the march from the fundraising concert performed by Tom Morello aka The Nightwatchman for IWD. The concert was amazing and the music and poetry from the many talented Iranian women was breathtaking. I quickly signed myself up to March for a good cause. And soon by my surprised I was asked to perform for the March 7th event. I was very happy to showcase my talents and time to such a day.

I really enjoyed performing my song "Hated" to the group I felt that this was the perfect song to introduce myself to the group. I even handed out lyrics and a free download to the song on my record label page here http://myspace.com/100girlspillrecords.

I started off my song by saying "That if one is not free then none of us our free". I truly believe that. Freedom is the most valuable gift we could ever have in life. And for those of us that have it we must defend it for those that don't!

KPFK was there doing coverage on the day. If you search the archives you might be able to find something on it.

I just wanted to say that I was glad happy to use my talents and time for such a profound cause and I can't wait for the next one!

Song Dedication - Day 27

Today's dedication is to my asshole co-workers.  The reason I picked this song is because nobody helps express my anger like this group.  I feel like they are angry with me.  The office politics in my job suck major ass.  There is so much bullshit going on, sneaky underhanded crap.  I won't be party to any of it.  A woman even had the balls to tell me to my face that I was petty.  When I called her on her shit she back peddled.  Of course she did..for some reason the people in this office think I'm a push over and that I'll just take their shit.  I took a picture of myself to see if I had "dunce" printed on my forehead, but all I saw was "fuck with me and you die".  Apparently they didn't get the message.  So this song is for me, you...anyone who is pissed off today and needs a song that is rebellious, powerful and flat out fucking rocks.

Thank you Zack, Tom, Timmy C. and Brad!

Killing In The Name Of by Rage Against the Machine

But now you do what they told ya
Well now you do what they told ya

Those who died are justified, for wearing the badge, they're the chosen whites
You justify those that died by wearing the badge, they're the chosen whites
Those who died are justified, for wearing the badge, they're the chosen whites

New Rage Shows, No Rage Album

It took 7 years, but Rage Against The Machine finally reunited last Sunday night to perform at Coachella.  With all the excitement going on around the band's return, everyone is starting to ask, "When's the new album coming out?"

Well, according to guitarist Tom Morello, the answer is unfortunately what most fans were looking to hear.

Ultimate-Guitar has Morello as saying, "There are no plans to do that.  That's a whole other ball of wax right there. Writing and recording albums is a whole different thing than getting back on the bike (laughs), you know, and playing these songs. But I think that the one thing about the Rage catalog is that to me none of it feels dated. You know, it doesn't feel at all like a nostalgia show. It feels like these are songs that were born and bred to be played now."

Rage plan to play four more shows this summer and possibly more in the future.

Do you think people will start to get bored hearing the same Rage songs on tour again, or are they still exciting to hear live?

January 27, 2007

I just marched with Cindy Sheehan.

Oh man, she is much smarter and nicer than I anticipated.

I just returned from the impromptu march organized just barely a few weeks ago for the citizens of Los Angeles to protest the war in Iraq. Not only do I feel it was more successful than planned (especially since it rained!!!!), but it was exhilarating to see so many separate and different groups come together for once cause.

And then at the end of the march, I got to be front and center for a short solo set from Tom Morello of Rage Against The Machine/Audioslave fame.

HE COVERED CCR. "FORTUNATE SON." I DIED.

Did you march today????
