you are a very lucky dude to get to interview thursday. they are definitely my favorite band of all time and have a lot to do with why i go to shows and listen to the music i do today - i'd say they were probably the first band in this genre i ever listened to. i remember way back in 2001 or 2002 when i first downloaded cross out the eyes - i was 12 or something like that and had never heard anything like that. i'm sure my eyes were wide as saucers the first time i took a listen through that song, i had literally never EVER heard anyone scream in music before and i liked it. after getting to know the girl who introduced me to thursday, i started getting into similar bands and from there, local shows.
and here i am today, a music industry major at usc...i attribute a LOT of where my life went to thursday. full collapse completely changed my life. it was probably one of the first albums i ever bought myself. while (unlike a lot of thursday fans, i know) it's not my favorite of their records, it holds a special place in my heart for being one of the first albums i owned.
also, i was at this show and it was mindblowingly good. i was so floored when geoff just hopped off the stage right after their set and came down into the crowd and talked to literally every single kid there who wanted to talk to him with so much enthusiasm and life that you'd think no one had ever told him how amazing thursday was or how they changed their life before. it makes a great band that much better when they're such nice, humble people too.
okay enough rambling now hahaha. good interview, man.
lol
Mark, thanks for another great interview.
You really should. They're AMAZING, on record AND live. I think I saw them a day or so after this interview. They're also some really nice guys.
