Charlize Theron, Mortensen to star in 'The Road'

After the success of the recent adaptation of Cormac McCarthy's moralistic western, No Country For Old Men, another celebrated novel of his is set to hit the big screen: The Road. Starring Charlize Theron and Viggo Mortensen, the movie will chronicle a man and his son trying to survive in a world full of cannibals.

Knowing that the Coen brothers relied heavily on the novel for No Country For Old Men makes me want to read Cormac McCarthy. Even though Oprah loves him and I tend not like books she hypes.

Anyway, onto The Road. According to Cinematical:
  • In what is shaping up to be one divine sledgehammer of a cannibal flick, Charlize Theron has signed up to star in The Road, based on the Pulitzer-winning apocalyptic novel by No Country For Old Men’s Cormac McCarthy. Theron will star as the wife of lead actor Viggo Mortensen, a smallish yet vital role that will require her to appear mostly in flashback. Apparently she’s a huge fan of the book, as is Oprah, as is everyone [else]...
I'll see it. I think Mortensen and Theron are great actors; the story seems intriguing.

This book was profoundly terrifying to me. I think it's probably the most truthful vision of what the end of the world would look like.

I hope they don't screw it up.

Just the premise scares me

The premise alone terrifies me.

I just started reading this. Holy God, it's so bleak. I love it.
