And the screen rights to that book have been bought by Temple Hill Entertainment. Yeah, really...

the new season of the hills will be premiering soon, and i'm pissed! I only watched it to see Lauren. Now i gotta watch Kristin bitch and herpes and symplex 2 will bethe main attractions. It's not worth it anymore. It's way too obviously fake. I miss back when it was real, with Jason. I'll watch the first episode, then most likely stop. They need to write in something actually good, like have the blond diseases get beat up or something violent come their way. Gosh all the good shows are turning to crap, so depressing. Watch if you want, but i warn you it'll probably be stupid. Peace! Bri

I’ve neglected “The Hills” for too long. I know, I know, why should buzznet, a site dedicated to music even consider covering “The Hills”? Now let me ask this: why should MTV, a channel dedicated to music, broadcast “The Hills”? The answer is simple: nothing is separate anymore. Music is news, news is tabloids, tabloids are celebrities, and celebrities are wannabe celebrities with scripted “reality” television series.

In case you’ve been living under a rock (or heaven) and have no idea what “The Hills” is, let me explain. 1) Take a few LA transplants who never finished school and a few LA natives known for their partying ways. 2) Have them work trendy jobs in trendy outfits. 3) Mix them together with booze and put them in Hollywood nightclubs and make sure they follow the script!

Yes it’s superficial, yes the characters are completely one-dimensional, and yes I’ve watched every episode of “The Hills”.  I’d like to say that I use “The Hills” as a way to study the 21st century human psyche but then I would be examining myself. After all, I’m not too far from those infamous hills. In fact, I can see the Hollywood sign from my window.

Sure, there’s some difference between my version of the hills and “The Hills”. I’ve stayed in school and tried to ignore the Hollywood scene but, at the end of the day, the cast members of “The Hills” are the people I grew up with. My brother dated Stephanie Pratt in elementary school, I took dance with Whitney Port’s sister, and Spencer Pratt lives in my neighborhood. Am I watching the hills or am I an unfilmed participant of an identical lifestyle?

The media’s addiction and obsession with “The Hills” has only magnified my confusion. CNN covers the show, for God's sake. Heidi and Spencer’s alleged wedding was breaking news, worthy of front covers and spreads in magazines across the nation. "The Hills" has become the show to both love and hate and yet nobody knows exactly why they're tuning in.

However, the hype will eventually die down and the result will be tragic--for the cast. Watching LC text away on her blackberry or Heidi and Spencer's dysfunctional relationship is like watching the last hurrah. This is their moment, but this is their last moment. The characters, devoid of substance, will be left with nothing while the viewer, witness to the impending demise of these Hollywood caricatures, moves on. And the worst part is, the cast hasn't a clue.

Perez posted a clip of last night's show of Spencer apologizing to Lauren with "Save You" playing in the background.  Check it out, it's pretty cool.  Watching one of my favorite shows and hearing a song I wrote start to play is a pretty awesome and weird feeling, I can't really describe it.  I'm so immune to the song at this point (because I've heard it so many times) that when it started playing I didn't fully realize what was happening haha

Letter from the week of 5/1/09

Dear Dr. Nonsense,

So! As you may have heard either through our frequent (every twelve seconds!) Twitter updates of completely unscripted reality TV show, we are a newly married couple! PRAISE JESUS ALMIGHTY! But now that we are married, we are beginning to understand the trials and tribulations of being a completely commited couple that spawned from an awful reality TV show.

For example, when you get married in Mexico, apparently it doesn't count in the United States.

...What.

And now we probably have Swine Flu. Like, EPIC FAIL of a wedding, to be honest. So, we come back from Mexico all innocent and pure and then we hear that our marriage is fake. What would God think? Or our Republican brethren?

Therefore, to make it was more real, we decided to feature it on a reality TV show. Because nothing gurantees true love, adoration, and all that death-to-us-part stuff than being on TV, right?!

We need help! We need to convince everyone that we're in this FOR REAL and not just to promote HEIDI MONTAG'S NEW SONG, "LOOK HOW I'M DOING," NOW AVAILABLE ON iTUNES!

...If that is your real name.

Your both have the same problem. It's a rare disease of the mind called "attentionseekeriliosis." So, I am sorry to inform you that you are very, VERY sick.

And you probably have Swine Flu, too.

What you need to do is rent a little house somewhere and escape. And by "escape," I do not mean "Go on vacation and then invite the paparazzi to take pictures of you in your little bikinis while holding hands and laughing and delighting in all of your celebrity glory."

That's not a vacation, kids. That's a photoshoot. You are not a scene queen; therefore, you don't need to take a camera everywhere. My own personal opinions concerning the scene aside, taking pictures is their job. Your job is growing pedophile-esque facial hair, being terrible actors, and creating songs that late-night drag queen clubs would play.

So, your job is almost harder.

MIND-FREAK.

Honey, WAVE that American flag. And do it with PRIDE. But don't do it in front of a thousand flashing cameras and creepy, ex-convict photographers shouting "OW OW, HOT MAMA!"

Maybe if you detach yourself a bit from the public, you will be able to relate to them a bit more.

We judge people on the arrangements of their features and their style. Care to tell me that you don't? Well, I would say that you might not judge your friends on their beauty, but you certainly pick up a magazine cover or check out a musician on stage and say "damn that girl looks awful in that outfit" or "wow what was she thinking wearing that much eyeshadow". Each week I am going to take a look at two pictures of celebrities or musicians and look at the art of their makeup.
