November 9, 2008Shoe House Rock - Concert ReviewOkay, so you know those shows that you're like "Let's go to this!" and you never end up going either becuase you forgot or don't actually care that much, you don't have money or you don't have time? This is kind of how this show started out. We had already seen one band once, and another band three times over the summer. No big bands, no fancy venue, and it was 2 hours away at the Metro in Chicago. Somehow, we went anyway and I couldn't be happier. Andi picked me up around 3ish and we set off to a benefit concert for Share Your Soles. We haven't hung out a lot since the school year started so it was a fun ride there, catching up and talking and laughing and such and such. Good times. We didn't hit traffic til we were really close to the venue, and even then it wasn't too bad. We parked a few blocks away and got in at like 6:10. It was freezing and dark out, but Andi parrallel parked for the first time since her roadtests, between to cars...and I like to think that I helped. We got in and the Urbanites were already playing. I had never been to The Metro before but it was quite spectacular. The crowd wasn't too tight, so we moved forward and soon as they were done playing. We were secondish row. Nice.
Danger Is My Middle Name played second(I think?). I've seen them before at Summerfest and loved em. I've been meaning to the get their cd but I obviously had to wait til I saw them again becuase their music isn't in stores. They are so full of energy on stage, I just love it. William is always jumping around and standing right on the edge of the stage. The bassist constantly had his bass above his head or held out in front of him. They're all pretty silly and fun. Good show.
I think An American Taxi or something like that came out next. I don't know any of their music and they were pretty good but they were wasted. They were completly smashed and anyone could tell, it was funny. One of the guitarists made the funniest faces ever whenever he played. They had a lot of beer on stage, at one point the singer/guitarist picked up his beer and just spilled it all over his guitar and the floor and the amp. It was very "Wristcutters A Love Story" only he didn't die. Their lighting was incredibly horrible to the point where I wanted to punch them in the throat. Punchline was next, they were good but I don't know if something was up with the mics that the vocals didn't seem very loud. Actually, I can't remember if that was for Punchline or American Taxi. They were good and fun, and yes.
The Frantic headlined! We saw them three times this summer, all in about a months time, they were the reason we came. Before coming on stage, Chris Farnesi and a lady from Share Your Souls threw out a ton of shirts and both Andi and I caught one. Both of us got a size too big, but whatever. When the band came to stage they were all dressed kinda fancier than the last times we had seen them. Silly, but fun still. They are just so great to see, they're not a band that has a lot of deep thought, metaphors, and depressing emotions thrown into them so they're always a fun band. They will always remind me of the great summer I had and how carefree we were. That band means happiness, carefree, and just living to me. I love them. They played 2 new songs, one song that they play at ever live show that isn't on a cd, Build Me Up Buttercup, and a few songs from the cd. Oh, and a cover of The Clash. I'm really excited for their new stuff, they continue to make me happy every time I see them, talk to them, or hear or watch things about them on the interwebz. They are so full of energy, you can tell that they're just teenage boys in a band and having fun. I love it. Chris has the most kickass dance moves ever and Kyle Dee always makes the silliest faces. Brett is on drums and is always smiling, thus the nickname we have given him; Lil Smiliez :D A bunch of their friends must have been in the crowd and ended up directly behind us. They were really rowdy and pushing a lot, so the girls in front of us left. Andi and I were barriar, Hurray!
Afterwards we went downstairs to get some merch. I bought a hoodie from The Frantic and a tshirt from Danger is My Middle Name. While Andi was waiting to buy something from The Frantic, Chris came out from behind the merch table and just kinda stood next to me. Then he turned in my general direction where everyone was just kind of hanging out and waiting in lines and was like "Can I get anything for anyone" Andi turned and looked at me and we both laughed. We were thinking dirty and silly things, we didn't say anything. After she bought her necklace we both a got a picture with him. He made a funny face in both of them. The whole time we was talking to people, people were complimenting him on his dance moves which he replied "I didn't take a single lesson, I swear"
A guy came out and told us if we weren't buying something we had to go outside. Then once we got outside we had to go past the green post. We waited until we could talk to Brett. He was asking a bunch of people for a lighter, I realized I had some matches in my purse so I let him use them. He asked if I smoked with a confused look on his face, I guess I don't look like I'm 18, or maybe I just don't look like a smoker. Either way, he's right. We explained that we had them becuase we got them free at a gas station. Afterwords we both got pictures with him too. He was moving around and making funny faces, and was like "It'll be an action shot! yea I 'm weird....sorry, haha" and yea. Andi was wearing a yellow hoodie and I was going to ask him if she looked like a bannana but I didnt...yea I duno. Haha. Walking back to the car seemed warmer and somehow lighter. It was kind of strange. Halfway home it started to snow lightly. Yeah. We laughed so much. Somehow we came up with a rather awkard place called Ocootertown with two highschools who's mascots were Wildcats and Trojans. There would be a Vagery Facility and a Cat Clinic(where you take your pussy). Long story. Haha. I'll be uploading my best pictures from the show here so check em out. I'm really proud of some of them becuase it's the first time I've really gotten good pictures at a show without using flash or a lot of editing. Enjoy :D Related Groups:

May 16, 2008The Frantic Love All Time Low, Justin Timberlake - But Not 'Emo'
HOLLYWOOD – Oozing confidence in front of a packed crowd at The Knitting Factory, Kyle Dee, lead singer of The Frantic, has his priorities in order – shaking hands with some industry heads, while eyeing and smiling at girls in the audience.
Without much warning, the projector screen rises and The Frantic begin slamming down the thunder. Ripping at his clothes and crashing around the stage, 17-year-old Dee embodies all the qualities of an ideal frontman. He's fearless, loses his mind while his band jams and doesn't mind playing it up to the ladies. "This next song goes to that beautiful girl, right over there," Dee says, before the band breaks into into cover of "Build Me Up Buttercup," a tune originally sung by late '60s British soul group The Foundations. The Frantic's live show can best be described as the musical equivalent to a skyscraper demolition, because it has all that captivating and fleeting beauty. The band's songs are fast and furious, and the group has enough energy to bring any house to the ground. ![]() [Click the above picture to watch the video interview.] Despite all the insanity, The Frantic – who hail from Chicago just issued their debut album, Audio & Murder, late last year – found time to catch up with Buzznet outside The Knitting Factory. "I actually love Buzznet," Dee stated as we walked around the building. "I'm a big fan of All Time Low, and they're all up on there, you know? So I have actually used Buzznet quite a bit." ATL often get slapped with the "emo" tag, of course ... be careful not to toss around that term when talking about The Frantic. They mocked the idea of being "emo," exclaiming that "music is music." "I think emotions are in every kind of music, so it's kind of a stupid thing to call it," Dee said. "I mean, without emotions, there's no music ... that's what music is ... it's art." ![]() [Click the above picture to watch the video interview.] The Frantic delivered their art to the masses on a recent tour with Authority Zero. Guitarist Ian Farnesi readily admitted that he had to battle his nerves while on the trek: "The first show we played with them, that night I couldn't fall asleep," he said. "It was great, you know? Like, I was so excited. Like going to Disney World the next day or something." Speaking of Disney, the band 'fessed up to a guilty pleasure: former Mouseketeer Justin Timberlake. "Yeah, that FutureSex/LoveSounds ... I like how it starts, it's all, 'FutureSex/LoveSounds,' " drummer Brett Hartwell admitted while imitating the sound effects of the album. Could a "future" tour with JT happen sometime down the line? Only time will tell ...

February 3, 2008Kyle Dee from the Frantic's plans for Valentine's Day![]() Buzznet: Any specific plans for Valentine's this year? If so who are you spending it with and where? Kyle: We actually have a big show in our home town! It's at a place called Mojoes Rock House. I believe we are doing some sort of theme for the show. Maybe something along the lines of "love stinks". I'm not exactly sure yet, but come hang and you can be my valentine. I'll make you cards and all of that fun stuff! Buzznet: If you were to stay at home this Valentine's Day and watch a movie with a loved one, what movie would you watch and why? Kyle: I'd have to say "Saw". Love is like a jigsaw puzzle. Buzznet: What do you do when trying to set the mood for a romantic date? What does the date consist of? Where does it take place? Kyle: Well, uh, first I'd take her shopping to stores she wants to shop in and then we'd do a little lunch, probably at the Cheese Haus, followed by some golfing. And then at night, we'd take in an opera, probably Die Fiedermaus and then I'd follow it up with a drive to a secluded beach where I'd popp on the radio and we could slow dance till the sun came up.
