The Aggrolites Hit The Airwaves and Add New Shows

THE AGGROLITES

“The Sufferer” Hits the Airwaves

Additional Shows Added

Songs featured in Endless Bummer & Nitro Circus

“Through sheer force of will (not to mention grooves so enticing you can’t help but fall into them), this quintet simply commands you to buy into their music, which they call “dirty reggae.” It’s rock-steady with a punk-funk edge, with frontman Jesse Wagner’s white-soul vocals and Roger Rivas’ crazy organ lines giving it a party-or-die feel.” – Kevin Bronson, buzzbands.la

(May 5, 2009) After a successful Coachella performance and debut tour in Brazil, The Aggrolites now gear up for the release of their album IV, due June 9, 2009. IV is a definitive chapter in The Aggrolites journey with 21 original and self-produced tracks – each one a story of their determination and quest to spread soulful "dirty reggae" around the globe.

The first single, “The Sufferer,” can now be heard online at www.MySpace.com/TheAggrolites and www.Hell-Cat.com. It has received airplay on two popular Southern California radio stations – 98.7 FM in Los Angeles and 94/9 FM in San Diego – as well as KTLA Morning News during The Aggrolites on-site interview at Coachella. In the U.K., BBC Radio 1’s Punk Show with Mike Davies has also shown love with some spins.

Southern California Shows Added

The Aggrolites will soon hit the road for three months of touring through North America, the U.K., Europe and Japan. Their first hometown IV album release show is May 15 at the historic El Rey Theatre in Los Angeles with special guests Latin soul outfit Boogaloo Assassins and all-star reggae collective The Lions, in what is being called “A Triple Threat of Reggae & Soul.” On May 16, they will make a triumphant return to The Belly Up in Solana Beach, CA, joined by ska veterans The Upbeat and The Lions. Singer Jesse Wagner admits, “It's funny to see how fast time flies when you are constantly on the road touring. We’re more than excited to hit our two favorite cities once again. It's going to be nice to see some old familiar faces in the crowd. Get ready So Cal, we're gonna keep you up all night!” Visit www.ticketmaster.com for tickets. The Aggrolites will also perform at Brixton’s South Bay on June 6, making their first appearance in Redondo Beach. Fans who attend any of these album release shows will have the opportunity to purchase IV prior to the official release date of June 9.

Festival Time Again

The Aggrolites added two of England’s biggest festivals to their summer schedule – Leeds and Reading – joining headliners Radiohead, Kings of Leon and Arctic Monkeys. Other rock-oriented festivals that will showcase their soul-infused reggae include England’s Isle of Wight with Neil Young and Prodigy, as well as Germany’s Vainstream Rockfest with Suicidal Tendencies and Gogol Bordello. Sticking to their roots, The Aggrolites will also play a handful of reggae and ska festivals, including Rototom Sunsplash in Italy with Bunny Wailer and Michael Franti & Spearhead; Nowa Reggae Festival in Spain with Alborosie and Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra; and Festival Betes de Scenes in France with U-Roy and Pablo Moses.

Endless Bummer & Nitro Circus

The Aggrolites contribute two songs to the upcoming National Lampoon Presents Endless Bummer movie and soundtrack, released on Blackheart Records. The teen surf comedy, starring Matthew Lillard and executive produced by Vans Warped Tour founder Kevin Lyman, will feature The Aggrolites' renditions of The Specials’ “Ghost Town” and Musical Youth’s “Pass the Dutchie..” Both ‘80s classics have been updated with The Aggrolites’ signature style, and “Pass the Dutchie,” features legendary Jamaican DJ General Smiley of Michigan & Smiley fame. The soundtrack will be released on June 23 followed by the movie this July. Visit www.endlessbummerthemovie.com and www.blackheart.com. Also, “Work To Do,” “Sound of the Bombshell” and “Mr. Misery” were recently featured in MTV’s new hit reality series Nitro Circus. Created by Johnny Knoxville and Jeff Tremaine of Jackass fame, Nitro Circus is centered on one of the world's premier freestyle motocross riders Travis Pastrana and his crew of top action sport athlete buddies.

THE AGGROLITES are more than a band – they are a movement unto themselves. They carry a banner – one created with their own hands. This banner reads, “Dirty Reggae,” and represents their signature fusion of reggae, soul, grit and determination. For 7 magnificent years, this dirty reggae bunch has rolled from city to city, across the pond and up main street USA. They are Jesse Wagner (vocals, lead guitar), Roger Rivas (organ), Brian Dixon (rhythm guitar) and Jeff Roffredo (bass). Out of the Los Angeles school of hard knocks, The Aggrolites have earned a Ph.D in "feel good music." On the road they educate with the thunder and punch of reggae drums and bass, the ripping, soulful melodies of the organ and guitars, and Jesse’s voice – a gift from the heavens, a perfectly intact gift from Otis, Sam, Ray and Wilson. Over the course of their career, they have shared the stage with Social Distortion, Madness, Rancid, Flogging Molly, 311, Dropkick Murphys, Michael Franti & Spearhead, The Vandals, The Skatalites, The Aquabats, Hepcat, Prince Buster and Derrick Morgan. The Aggrolites have performed at such notable events as Vans Warped Tour, Coachella, Bumbershoot, SXSW, CMJ, Sundance Film Festival, Sunset Junction, Detour Music Festival and KROQ’s Weenie Roast y Fiesta. Their last album, Reggae Hit L.A. (Hellcat Records), was released in June 2007.

Summer Hair = Forever Young: A Warped '08 Recap

So, Warped Tour is over and I gotta be honest, I'm experiencing some post-tour blues. You never would guess I'd feel this way if you read my first week twitters. (To recap, I was on The Audition's bus, and it was continually malfunctioning. Then I had to find a new bus and do the whole new kid at school thing all over again)

I wanted to blog every day, but there was an issue of personal space (lack thereof) and, I don't know, I didn't want to pass judgement on anyone or anything right away, if that makes sense. I uploaded tons of pics and videos constantly, but despite primarily being a blogger, I had trouble blogging. I'm not the kind of person who hangs out with a band member for 30 minutes and then goes OMG WE ARE BFF and then immediately log on to various interwebz to recount every detail of the conversation/interaction.

And maybe thats backwards and I need someone to slug some journalistic intent into me or maybe I just live in fear of being anything like that MS-paint abusing bastard Perez Hilton. What I know is everyone is not one thing all the time. Sometimes someone needs a shower, needs a sandwich, needs alone time, needs a phone call from their mom. I don't believe in snap judgements, even though I make them in my head, so I try to sort out why I feel a certain way about a person before I put my fingers to the keys. Maybe that's ridiculously over analytical, but I GET the power of the internet and being behind a computer screen shouldn't make you feel like you can say things you wouldn't normally say to someone's face.

I watched tons of bands. I sang along to so many songs. I almost passed out a few times. I took a ton of videos. I met a lot of kickass people and made several solid friends. I accidentally ate a few bugs in Florida. I cried both times I left. I had good conversations. I had lunch sitting across from people who wrote some of my favorite songs. Would I seem cooler if I name dropped? Probably, but now is not the time.

Secondly, there really isn't anything that different about being a girl on tour aside from the obvious guys can pee easy anywhere aspect. Some touring boys are actually pretty sanitary and don't like their bus to smell like feet, despite whatever misconception you may have had. Oh, but truck stops don't carry freaking LOTION so if you're concerned with being soft and moisturized, you better bring your own supplies. Most things can be macguyvered if properly prepared. Just don't be shy about hooking a hose up to the side of a venue and showering in your bikini while kids file in. If you gotta get clean, you gotta get clean.

Thirdly, Warped can be a bit cliquish at times, but the authentic connections will make your life. I really didn't anticipate becoming attached to The Lordz of Brooklyn, but they were the sweetest group of guys ever. I got to be part of the best conversation between Kaves from The Lordz and Tatiana from Tat. Yonnas from The Pirate Signal was maybe my favorite person to talk to. He's so instrospective and open-minded. I had seriously fun times with Aisha (TAI merch girl), and some fun slightly-drunken conversations with people I didn't even know were in bands 'til I was in their photo pit later. Mendoza spread warped gossip and saved my life with allergy meds. I often sought shade in the Glamour Kills tent or in the Guitar Center weblab (shoutout to Sara!) MC Chris made everyone on our bus die with laughter, constantly, and effortlessly. I got to meet my Buzznet BFF Trendysecret, as well as the amazing talented Unsceneunheard and her sidekick Bellavenom. I lurked the FBR tent to hang out with Metal and Chad. Evan gave me directions to catering every day. I bought two awesome bags from Two Tree Designs and probably will buy more in the future because I love their stuff and Pablo is cool. I got some quality time in with Brianfax while he was on the tour, and got to hang with Jenrrray in Portland. I tried to watch Broadway Calls & Tat as much as possible because they're solid people. And Sirah made me cry on the last day.

But the Warped Tour best friend award goes to Lazer, who does merch for Broadway Calls. He made me watch strange bands (Gil Manteras Party Dream, Hunter Revenge), complained whenever I got bigger servings of mashed potatoes, critiqued by iTunes library, send me more than a few texts that said "Wake up!" -but- he kept me entertained in the notoriously long catering lines (and even let me cut twice) and, while a large majority of people on tour were concerned with getting f*cked up in their free time (I'm not straight edge, but I don't smoke and I don't drink very often) I could be like, so, Lazer, I have some candy cigarettes, wanna hang out? and that would work. Also, he can draw goldfish pretty well.

All in all, it was a good experience, and I'd do it again. I have a lot of respect for touring bands and a crazy amount of respect for the artists who were out there hustling every day with very little support just so they could keep doing what they love. Warped Tour can make you or break you -- this year especially, with gas prices and all -- so I wish nothing but success for the bands that busted their @sses (and wallets) out there this year.

So long, and thanks for all the shoes (ok, i didn't get any shoes, but I really wanted to say that)

8/17/08 - Warped Tour Carson

After 9 hours of sleep, popping a Tylenol or two, treating some minor sunburn on my face, uploading photos and editing video all day long, I'm finally ready to sit down and tell you all about my adventure yesterday at Warped Tour in Carson.

I went with (pictured below) my brother Francis (the funny guy with the headband) and my cousin Bill (the young'n, his first major music event ever). Quite exciting.

We arrived and got into the gates at 11:30 ish. To my surprise, we were welcomed in by the sounds of The Academy Is... I didn't expect them to be playing so early. Now, I'm not a huge TAI fan, but of course I couldn't resist snapping a quick shot of The Beckett before checking the schedule board. That boy is bee-ee-ay-yoo-ti-full. Didn't stick around though, I had bigger fish to fry.

A quick glance at the board told me that We The Kings was playing, and soon!! So without a second thought, I bolted off to find the Hurley stage without checking anything else. I wanted to be on that barricade, and I wasn't going to take my chances on missing out on them again. [It's a long story. You can ask me on your own time if you want.] Found the stage and hurled myself into the Pierce the Veil crowd. It wasn't terribly hard to wiggle to the front. They finished their set, (I have to give them a good listen, I wasn't really paying attention but I liked what I heard) and I actually picked up a guitar pick. I met my new friend Julia, who squished up next to me to wait for WTK and we had some good conversation about some bands we had in common. We exchanged numbers and texted all day. Now we plan on being myspace bffls and meeting up for Cobra Starship/Forever the Sickest Kids in the Fall. We entertained eachother and soon enough, Travis, Hunter, Drew and Danny hopped up on stage. I could talk all day about how amazing they were, but you can just see for yourself. Check my videos! Oh and I have to brag about getting a piece of the redhead's arm when he reached out to us in the crowd. I even got a picture.

After We the Kings, I wanted to explore the merch tent area and get myself oriented with the layout. I saw fellow Buzzsters Jac Vanek and Jeffree Star in the flesh, I must say I was really weirded out seeing them in person. Francis and I bought some sweet new pairs of shades ($5 each! Loves it!), and Bill got his compilation cd. We tried to go to the MySpace tent for an FTSK acoustic set but there were too many people so we walked away. Instead, Francis wanted to check the board for the rest of the bands we wanted to watch, so we paused at the Ernie Ball Stage. He went off and Bill and I stuck around and watched the band that was playing, Transit Studio. They weren't bad, but I'm not really compelled to explore them further.

We jogged around the tents some more, and then posted up by the Highway 1 Stage sound tent to sit down and get a comfortable viewing spot for Story of the Year. (Sadly, we had missed Cobra Starship.) While waiting we heard a little bit of Norma Jean from the Route 66 Stage. Story of the Year started and I decided I really like them. Hahaha. Got a little video, watched a couple songs, but then we lost interest and went back to the tent area so I could buy my We The Kings tee.

The next band on our list was Forever the Sickest Kids but they weren't for another few hours. So we walked around, scored some free stuff, and checked out some of the causes that were on the tour. We popped a squat in a shady area until the sounds of Oreskaband drew us over to the Hurley.com stage. Those girls are cute, yet badass at the same time (at least as BA as you can get while playing ska). I didn't even care that I couldn't understand their Japanese, their stuff was fun to jump and dance around to.

Bill got thirsty so we went to get him a Sprite. On our way to the food area, I stopped at the Sk8 Ramp stage because The Randies drew me over there. It's 4 chicks rocking out, how do I not stop and watch? I like them. Listened to a song, took a picture and kept walking. After we got out drinks we got stopped by some boys of a band called Farwell. Jason, Jordan and Andrew. They persuaded us to listen to a track off their CD and we liked it. They told us that they had lost 2 members while on the tour, and spent all their money on fixing their van when it broke down. They're from Michigan and they weren't sure how they were gonna get home. So we bought their CD and a sweet pair of shorts (modeled by Jordan below) for $20. Even though it was my last twenty, I knew it was going to a good cause. They have to get home, for crying out loud. We rattled up some shenanigans with them, and Francis took a pretty good video. I'm glad we made some friends. I should text Andrew and see if they figured out a way home. Oh yeah, and while we were talking to them Motion City Soundtrack was playing in the background. You can hear on the video. Ha.

Since I was out of money, we sat down in our shady spot and waited for Forever the Sickest Kids. We planned on getting to their stage a little early, but we pit stopped at the port-a-potties. Got into the middle of the FTSK crowd shortly after Panima finished up. We were in a pretty nice spot, or so I thought. As soon as the band got onstage there was a MAD push for the front and yours truly got stuck smack dab in the middle. I was a few people back from the front, and right in the center, with no escape. All I had to say was "FTSK? F-U-C-K!" The crowd got hyped and everyone was jumping so I had no choice but to jump with them. Normally I have no problem with this and I love jumping up and down and dancing around, granted that everyone is jumping to the same beat. Yeah. The group to my left was jumping one way, and the group to my right was jumping a different beat. Stupid ass white people with no rhythm. I seriously do not remember the FTSK crowd being that bad last summer. I survived a good portion of the set, but by the time they played their last song, She's A Lady, I was seriously so annoyed that I wanted out. Wasn't worth it, I've seen FTSK twice before. I either had to wait out the madness or walk back through the madness. Neither option seemed appealing, so I asked the kind sir next to me if he would give me a boost so I could crowd surf out of the pit. Normally I think crowd surfers are idiots, but it was the last song and it seemed to be a good solution to my problem. But now I know why people do it because, holy balls, it's way fun. Haha.

After that I was pretty exhausted so I bought a gatorade and headed to the back of the crowd for All Time Low to wait for Family Force 5. Didn't really pay attention, but I thought it was funny when ATL said "First of all, you all need to calm the fuck down. We're at a music festival, it's not like we're playing Pokemon here." Roflrofl. Family Force 5 was next. I love the song Drama Queen. They put on a really hype show and I wish I hadn't been to tired to jump into the crowd. That would've been way fun. Instead the three of us chilled by the sound tent for good viewing. Caught some video until my camera ran out of memory.

Before the end of their set, we went to their merch tent and Francis bought a t shirt. Bill bought a Warped tee and then we stuck around for a little Relient K. We then decided as a group that there was no one else worth sticking around for, so we headed out for some dinner.

All in all, I was satisfied.

Warped Tour July 26 2008!

Ow, ow, ow. I still hurt all over.
If you wanna know how Warped Tour went on July 26th 2008, read all this!
(The orange words have links so look at those.)

Okay, let's get started? First we arrived around 11:40 and Mayday Parade was already playing. Which was odd because the ticket said that the thing started at 12:00. Fucking liars. My friend, Ije wanted to see them! But it was too late. Then while we were walking forward to get the schedule, I saw this guy holding up a sign that said Just Surrender 2:45. So I'm all "Yeah, Just Surrender 2:45 okay, okay." So he comes over and smiles with us and fans us. So I'm thinking "Who is this dude, he has nice eyes and he's too familiar." We chat a little and then I tell him that I'll be there OF COURSE. Then when we go to the schedule thing it hits me... "He's the drummer!!" So yeah, Steve Miller, the drummer from Just Surrender came up to me and wasted his precious time fanning my friend and I and I didn't even know who he was. Smart aren't I? Well you can't blame me because I'm not all Teenie over them, I love their music way more.

So anyway after we got the schedule thing, my sister and her friends split up with Ije and I and we ran to go see The Academy Is. I'll be completely honest right now. I always though William Beckett was cute. When he cut his hair he was a bit cuter. But in person... HE'S GORGEOUS! Like, whoa. I wasn't in the front for them but I was in a pretty good spot and got some great pics. Travis from We The Kings sang with them for a little while too. So they're awesome live and their crowd was pretty fine.

Then Ije and I started walking to get to From First To Last, where my sister was. Then I saw Gabe Saporta from Cobra Starship, I asked him for a picture but he said "You gotta walk." I thought that was impossible so I just left. *shrugs* Plus, dude, he was in a complete rush. I got a picture of his back though. Psh, I'm so hardcore. But anyway then I realized that if I saw From First To Last I'd have to miss Just Surrender. So I just said fuck that and went to Just Surrender's stage where The Human Abstract was playing. But we got bored and sat by the gates instead. On the other side of the gate Oli Sykes, of Bring Me The Horizon, past by and I was all "oh, soft gasp." I don't like his band, but he's kinda cute. We met up with another friend of mine, Ashleigh. It was her first concert at all. So it was cool. Then the drummer of Just Surrender came out again and it kind of slipped my mind that I should have asked for a picture. -_-

When The Human Abstract was ending Ije and I raced to the stage and got great spots, at the front, with the gate. I was super excited to see them. If you haven't heard of Just Surrender I seriously insist on you fucking checking them out. They're totally awesome. Anyway, there are negatives and positives about being in the very front at Warped Tour. Positives are great pictures and great view. Negatives are loss of hearing and crowd surfers landing on you. I felt so bad for Ije. It was her first Warped Tour and she never got kicked in the head before. She got hurt way more than me too. Sorry, Ije! Ily for pulling through! Oh, and sorry about your nose! Anyway, there were times that the guys would sound like Alvin and the chipmunks but hey, I enjoyed myself. So when they ended I got a picture with Jason, the lead singer, and his sweaty self. He's much cuter in person too. And when I said thank you he said "No, thank you." I squealed in my head.

After them Ije and I were tired and we couldn't hear correctly. (My ears are still ringing and it's the day after.) We waited a bit to see if we saw my sister in the Alesana crowd but we didn't want to wait around so we went to buy some shades. We both got awesome green ones. I lover mine for the remind me of Ryan Ross... yeah, uh, anyway... we waited around some more but then we decided to go look at t-shirts. Ije bought a Mayday Parade shirt to make up for not seeing them. I bought nothing. Then we went to go wait at the stage that Cobra Starship was going to play at. All That Remains was playing and we sat around for a bit until Ije was pulling me to get into the crowd. We got okay spots until the band came out... then we were being pushed all around. I mean seriously it was ridiculous. I only got one picture and two videos. I was scared for my life in that one. There were more than like five times that about ten people fell all together in the crowd. Gabe actually told the crowd to calm the fuck down, well he didn't curse. He told us to take a deep breath. Then he sang another song and it seemed like no one calmed down at all. Then one of the guys, I couldn't fucking see who, said "Long Island, now I know why they call you Strong Island." They call Long Island, Strong Island sometimes. Travis from Gym Class Heroes came out when they sang Snakes On A Plane. He was a bit drunk. Oh, and remember when last year in my Warped Tour '07 blog, I told you guys that Paramore was the worst crowd ever? Yeah well Cobra's crowd was twenty times worse. Way more sweat was exchanged, I stole a Cute Is What We Aim For sticker, hair was pulled, everyone was kicking, my pants were being pulled, and I threw paperclips at the chick in front of me... yeah, I'm so hxc. Lmfao, when she saw what got thrown at her, her face was priceless.

Everything hurt after Cobra Starship. Ije and I walked to the stage that Ludo was gonna play at. I was super excited for them too! So, awesomely, the crowd was small. So Ije and I got good spots, although we weren't in the front. When Ludo came out and sang the first song, which was Go Getter Greg, it was me and a couple girls behind me that were going crazy. There were probably others but not around us at least. It was a boring crowd, but that's good. Because there's more room to be in. Ludo's lead singer, Andrew Volpe, is fucking weird. Like, there's something in his head, the poor guy. But you know something? I don't give a fuck! Because he's amazingly awesome! I mean I act the way he does on stage sometimes. It's all just random excitement. Anyway after they played he said he was leading an Idiot's and Asshole's Parade. I was like fuck yeah! So Ije and I ran to follow him. I was like beside him almost the entire time. I kept pulling Ije with me to run to the front with him. I took a video of him for a while too and got pictures. He lead us to his tent. Andrew's so cool. I got a picture with him too. I look really tired in the picture. But I love it anyway. It's cute.

So then Ije and I bought $5 water. Goshh. Then we slowly walked around waiting until it was time to go see Anberlin. But we ran into this tent where this cute guy was. She actually mistook the tent for something else but he told us to come over and listen to his band so of course we did. When we were listening he held up signs that said stuff, it was funny. It had a great sound so when it was over I told him that I would but I didn't have enough money. But he told us that since I had five dollars and that she had five dollars we could buy one and share it. So we chatted about his shirt and Blink 182 and free water. And I asked his name. Hiona, pronounced Yauna. He had the cutest accent. Oh, he and his band are from New Zealand, btw. Well anyway he signed the cd and we took pictures with him and Ken. It's another cute pic. By the way, the band's called All Left Out. After that we walked around for a bit.

We reached the stage that Anberlin was going to play at and Reel Big Fish was preforming. Apparently, they are the masters of music styles. Haha. Ije started dancing to them really randomly because they covered a song that she loves. So she was dancing beside the crowd and I started cracking up. Then when they were over Ije pulled me in and we got to the front where the gates were. She went insane for Anberlin. I even got a video of her going insane. Teehee. I only knew one and a half songs that they sang there. She had a moment with the lead singer too. He pointed at her while she pointed at him, she squealed. Hahaha. Their crowd was boring too. But remember, it's not a bad thing. It just means you get to be a little more crazier.

After Anberlin we went to search around for my sister. I met up, or more like kinda bumped into, another friend of mine, Yaritza, and pointed her in the direction of Bring Me The Horizon. Then we found Say Anything and sat behind their crowd. We looked at all our pictures and squealed a bit. Then we went inside the crowd for a little bit for Wow, I Can Get Sexual Too. I got an okay video of the ending. But I was pretty far so it's probably not the best.

Then we met up with my sister. Well I kinda shoved her and she got really mad because she thought I was some stranger. Anyway, I finally met up with my sister and her friends and we waited and sat behind Katy Perry's crowd. And while we waited I saw that skank Matthew Lush. I didn't bother going up to him. But then I regretted it because if I asked for a picture I would've totally moved my hand the same way he moved it in that video of his...*coughcough*. I just would've liked to put an effort into trying to embarrassing him. So anyway, my sister, Ije and I went into Katy Perry's crowd for a few pictures but some asshole's hair kept getting in the way so it didn't work out so well. Plus Katy sucks live. So we went out of the crowd to find my sister's friends. We waited by a Ludo van and I took a picture of it. Teehee.

Then eventually we left early. About an hour earlier than it ended. And while we were walking to where my sister's friend's Dad was some guy yelled for me to show him my bewbs. I didn't turn to look at him, I just said "Ew." But hey, I didn't trip once this year! Woo!

If you've read all of this, you must comment, my love, you must.
