What the Crazy Beans Is Wrong With the World?
I am one to say that I don't like how the technological world is progressing. Sorry, cell-phones, computers, TVs, pretty much anything with the letter 'i' in front of it. For one, I think they are destroying mankind. Computers and TV are taking over our 6 year old children. Forming into behavior problems and parental issues. What ever happened to the days like, 'Little House on the Prairie'? Where children had to work since age twelve and help put the bacon on the table? I'm not saying that there aren't people less fortunate out there who still do this, but the common American teenager probably doesn't.
These products like TV or the Internet can also lead to serious issues if not used wisely.
"In 2007, the teenage obesity statistics showed that boys were heavier than girls with male teenage obesity at 16.3% and female at 9.6%.
Further teen obesity in America statistics show the rate of overweight teens was 15.8%, up from 14.4% in previous years.
It is no surprise that the rate of teen obesity in America is increasing. In the same teenage survey, 35.4% watched television 3 hours or more on average daily..."
More and more teens are becoming less active and hovering over their computer screens. I'm also not stating that because you use these products, you are going to be obese. But you may become addicted. One of my top pet peeves. Besides the fat facts, more and more teens are staying inside checking their Myspace, then playing softball with the neighbors. Then again, who actually does that anymore?
(Because I can..)
One thing I hate most is how was are adapting to this in the wrong places. For instance, this summer I went to the airport for my trip back home from Washington, D.C. When we got to the usual line to check in, the man told us to use the 'Do-It-Yourself-Check-In'. Not only was it my first time using one of these things, I had no clue what the fuck to do. My info wasn't showing and it was taking longer than usual. Finally the man did it himself.
Seriously people? Why do we have to make everything so easy today? We all need are challenges. I think if that's what the world is coming to, it's going to be pretty boring. Maybe entertaining for the younger generations, like myself. But no, I will not stand for this. How many people do you know who still write letters via mail? Not very many. It's either emails or phones these days.
I absolutely hate when people are texting on their phones and talking to you too. In person, that's impossible. I find it annoying and disrespectful. But who am I to judge? I have a phone, I use the Internet, I own a yspace. I'm your average hypocrite. Would I say I'm addicted? No. Could I live without them? Probably not, at least in this time and day. It's the only way to survive with people.
In class the other day our teacher told us to be prepared to take notes. While he was explaining this to us (first day), somehow the phrase 'text-form' got in there. If you don't know what text-form is. It's simple abbreviations to common words. Like, u=you, 2=to, just stupid shit like that. I'm a grammar freak when it comes down to it. So when this classmate of mine ask if we could use text-form on notes, I pretty much shit my pants. "Fuck no you can't, because I said so!" As I proceeded to say in my mind. Thank God the teacher said no.
Why is it such a bad thing? It's bad because if we start now, we won't stop later. For instance, one of my friends was reading a junior's essay (don't know which subject, probably English) and in the first paragraph it stated, 'haha'. I know it's not a big deal but still! If it's funny, we will laugh out loud. For those who are still stuck, lol. And please don't laugh at your own jokes, leave that to me. Obviously that paper was a joke anyway.
Then there is sexting, not really a problem. The only effect I can see that on me is people getting in mucho trouble with the law. And I'm not going to be the idiot sending out those pictures so who am I to worry? I don't think the charges are fair at all. You can't really control what people send to you. Yes, you can delete it but maybe they are one of those people who doesn't care much to delete it or has OCD. haha (just kidding)
As you can see this technological world is growing too fast to handle and is becoming heavier on the issue list. I would of looked up more facts to prove my points but I'm too lazy. That's the average American teenager for ya!
