Taking Back Sunday live @ Pop's

Adam Lazzara of Taking Back Sunday

There are some bands who are good live, and then there are some who are amazing live, engaging the audience with their high energy and dynamic stage presence. Long Islanders Taking Back Sunday are exactly the latter of the two. Despite being on crutches due to a torn ligament in his leg, frontman Adam Lazzara took the stage with the rest of the band and took the packed house by storm opening with Set Phasers To Stun. Following with You Know How I Do and the first single from New Again, Sink Into Me, Lazzara and company didn't stop for a full 2 hours and never lacked a moment of their usual aggressive stamina. Between bassist Matt Rubano's stage antics, perfectly matched backup vocals of Matt Fazzi, and the arrival of their talent newest member Isaac Bolivar, the band had enough energy as a whole to keep an amazing performance going despite Lazzara claiming "I feel ridiculous up here [in crutches]."

Adam Lazzara of Taking Back Sunday

For the live performances, Taking Back Sunday have a gift for perfectly balancing both new and old material. Throughout the night they touched base with the audience and thanked the crowd for their continued devotion throughout the years before blowing us away with "Cute Without The E" and some of the other wonderful tracks from Tell All Your Friends such as "Great Romances Of The 20th Century" and of course "You're So Last Summer". The setlist was covered with other winners like "Capital M-E", the title track to New Again, "Liar (It Takes One To Know One)", the visceral "Lonely, Lonely", and an encore that consisted of Where You Want To Be's "A Decade Under The Influence" and "Make Damn Sure".
Pop's colorful lighting of the night with their blue, magenta, and yellow main lights and red back lighting can prove to be a challenge at times. However, the 50mm f/1.8 and 25-75mm f/2.8 was able to give me the versatility I needed to capture both intimate close ups of the guys in Taking Back Sunday and more wide angled shots. For crowd surfers and the rest of the crowd singing along in harmony, the entire night was a treat for both first time goers and veterans of their audience. This is the third time I've seen TBS live, and the second time I've photographed them live. I have to say that of all the bands I've shot, they are by far some of my select favorites. Their occasional storytelling between songs gives way to their down to earth offstage personalities and defies their monstrous performances. Between each unique member, it is always a thrill to witness their talent live and capture it with a camera. I hope for it to be far from the last time I will be there to photograph them, and I guarantee you it will be a blast! Special thanks to Lisa Bregant and notesfromthepit.com. You can view the entire gallery of photos from the show here.

Sorry, Your Not A Winner; Football Season Is Over

buzzing. it is truly an addiction! i love writing and journaling. it is so funny, because i know absolutely no one reads this at all, but it is still soothing and very funn! right now i am listening to sleep with one eye open trek one remix. there is a suicide season cut up coming out november 2nd, which is tomorrow. that is exciting. i can tell november is going to be a good month. i'll get into that a little further in this journal. sorry october, i guess i was not good enough.

i want to sum up october in this paragraph. it was honestly a big clusterfuck. lets see: i came face to face with the truth. homecoming was this month and i really do not regret not going. i learned alot about myself ,and suprised myself at how strong i am as a person . i was blinded months before october and it is like i got a new set of eyes. they are wide open now. it was like wake me up when october ends. i am still here though, happy and proud. that is really all that matters to me now. i want to be happy, and i am going to do anything to be happy. that is why i was put into such a ridiculous situation this month. i just wanted happiness, and did not want to think of the consequences that were to follow my actions. one word to explain my life this month was the downhill ride of a roller coaster or for anyone who knows about the pitfall. my life was a dead drop downwards. and i stopped it before it crashed down to the earth. i will not regret anything that has happened in the past. it boosted my confidence, it taught me about self-awareness, and it showed me how to love and be loved. even if it was a lie. it taught me so much, and gave me so much insight. i can finally exhale. and i should thank that person for just that. i am breathing and my heart is beating and that is all that matters to me. this month of november i have the midas touch.

this month is really going to be delicate. i can just feel it in my skin. i am so ready to move forward in my life, and experiance new things. i have a new attitude, and i am not going to dig six feet under in my past. that is just ludicris. i am surrounded by mediocracy, and it gives me the push to be better than that. to hold my head up high, and sit up straighter. like my mother told me, i am an amato, we always win. haha. it is true, we have big heads, and we will do anything to get what we want. i got caught up in the game, but this time i am so ready for it. it is kind of ironic really. usually i play the game, i move the pieces, i make the calls, but i blinked once and the game changed its course. never will i ever blink again. i am ready november! yeah i thought i had it all, and maybe i did. but i had something at the bottom of the cut and i deserve something so much better. i read my horoscope and my future is looking grand. all is well that ends well right?

my friends are back on track. i know who is my real friend, and who is not. i have many aqaintences, and few close friends. i am completely content with that. there is nothing i have left to say about that subject. things are working out pretty perfect.

i am getting closer and closer to the day i am getting my tattoo! i had an idea for my stomach. i wanted an anchor; " we all carry these secrets that no one else can see they hold us down like anchors they drown us out at sea" that is from chelseas smile by bring me the horizon. i changed my mind. i still want that, but not for my first tattoo. my new idea is absolutely genius. i love everything about it. the placement, the quote, the image that is going next to it. EVERYTHING! i also want another peircing. i am so done with the whole dying my hair crazy colors. it gets so old so quick. and i think it is a little last year.i am going to be natural. but back to my peircing haha i got distracted. i think i want my nose, but it looks like it hurts really bad. i mean i have my monroe and i could get that done a thousand times in a row and it would not be the list bit painful, but the nose looks like a process in a half.

this post is way longer than i intended, but i said it before and ill say it again: buzzing is addicting! speaking of that, twitter is annoying. i honestly do not get it. i do not want to know what celebrities are doing every hour of every day. i have a life too!! like tweeting and all that. so stupid. but what is really agigitating is having your schoolmates telling you to follow them on twitter. like their somebody. some people that attend my school need a real wake up call. nobody cares. you have to know somebody to be somebody right? i do not intend to offend anyone, but if i do too bad for  you!

i think im in love NECKBONE NECKBIZZY NECKBIZZYBONE!

(i honestly just wanted to use that word)

"Your so last summer."

Decent Pop-Punk/Emo bands

Yes, it is possible. There are a LOT of crappy pop-punk/Emo bands out there right now ( watch out, they're out there) but there are a few quite decent ones. I know they're kind of different genres but c'mon ultimately they're the same thing...just pop/punk tends to be happier with virtually no screaming (and I hate screaming, well, most of the time). And I know some of the bands I mention later are probably more punk rock but whatever, you say potatoe....

Anyways here's my list, of course it is very constructive and all that jazz, and yes my opinion is the truth (obviously) so to whoever bothers to read this if you disagree you can tell me but that doesn't mean I'll listen and it definately won't change my mind. Here goes:

Death Cab for Cutie

Now, I haven't heard much by these guys but they seem to be a bit miserable. I've never been much of a fan of ballads and thats hat they're songs all seem to be. I mean, c'mon uys lighten up a bit, would it kill you to make an upbeat song. nd I know they probably have a couple but I haven't heard any. Cheer up guys, it might never happen.

Paramore

I'm not a huge fan of Paramore but I do like their earlier stuff and they are a bit of a guilty pleasure. However, I thought RIOT! was a pretty boring album, as I can't remeber any songs from it bar the singles. And I seriously hate Misery Business with a passion. I still like them though but from what I've heard from Brand New Eyes I probably won't be a fan of this album either. Paramore are still better than a lot of the bands in this genre though but I have a slight case of CDO and can't trust any band that can't spell its own name.

All Time Low

I do like a surprising amount of All time Low and they're songs are undeniably catchy. Even though they seem to be affiliated with Fall Out Boy*gag*. My personal favourite is Coffee Shop Soundtrack followed by Six Feet Under the Stars. I don't seem to have much to say about these dudes but then again I haven't heard enough by them...

Panic! At the Disco

Esclamation mark or no exclamation mark? I have no idea. I can't keep up with these wild, wild boys. First its 4 members, then 3, then back up to 4 then down to 2 now back up to 4 again. Phew, it is hrd to keep up with these boys, so exhausting. I know it sounds like I don't like them but I do honestly but again I don't seem to have much to say...I like I write Sine not Tradgedies quite a lot...Their last album wasn't as bad as people said it was...I'm done...

Cobra Starship

*sigh*Another band who seem to be associated with the douch known as Pete Wentz but I have managed to get past it, just. There songs make me happy and wanna boogie (and I am not the boogie-ing sort). I don't normally appriciate bands that have nothing interesting or different to say but whats wrong with a bit of mindless, happy music? Their popularity seems to be on the rise which means I will probably go off them pretty soon if they're everywhere (but even that seems unlikely).

Cute is What we Aim For

I know they're no kore and I know that they had a dodgy beginning but that doesn't change the fact that I thought they're pretty awesome (yes I said it). My personla favourite is Hipbones and Microphones followed closely by Newport Living and The Curse of Curves. I have their first album (well my friend has been borrowing it for a few months now but I still have it- just not actively). Yes, I think I quite like thse guys, shame they split up really but nothing really to write home about (even though I'm writing it here).

Go:Audio

They're songs are catchy what I can I say. I've seen these guys live and they were pretty good. Lots of energy and shizz and what's-his-face isn't band live. They finally have an album out and I hope the folllow-up will be just as good adn they do just as well as YouMeAtix havedone.

YouMeAtSix

These dudes are from around my area which is always a plus (the only other band from where I live is Hard-Fi which is more of a minus). Anyways they're still good nonetheless. I admit a lot of their songs do sound the same but is that such a crime if what they sound like is good? I just hope they don't get too overexposed (the seem to be on in Kerrang! way too much)as their seems to be a lack of decent British bands around right now. Anywho, they're pretty good and I do hope they last and improve.

Taking Back Sunday

Love these boys too. Seem to have changed for the worse over the last couple of years but I still love them. Never seen them live but there is still time. These guys don't seem too overrated either which does help (can you tell I'm running out of stuff to say). Erm...yeh...I like Taking Back Sunday.

Say Anything

These are one of my fave bands. I tink I love Max Bemis. I'm just annoyed that ...Is a Real Boy doesn't seem to be for sale in the UK but I am determined to get it. Admit It! just seems to have taken the word right out of my mouth and Wow, I can get Sexual Too is one of my fave songs ever. I mean, who else could do a whole song about phone sex and itnot be as vulgur as any Brokencyde song? Although its not one you wanna be caught singing along to on the bus...

AMAZING Concert

Taking Back Sunday: Awesome.

Weezer: Phenomenal.

Blink 182: there are no words.

It was unfortunate that the weather was dreary and Blink 182's hearts were heavy. But the guys played through it and gave it their all.

R.I.P Adam Goldstein (DJ AM)

Best Concert Ever.

The Voluntour: Now With More Blink

For a while now, the White House has been calling young folks to action, urging them to volunteer for the betterment of their communities.  Volunteering comes with a lot of benefits, including the respect of fellow humans, restored faith in humanity, and a feeling of inner peace.  But sometimes, it's nice to get a little recognition for the hard work you've put in.  Find out how Blink-182 and Causecast are showing their appreciation for your good deeds.

Taking Back Sunday Concert...

Ok so yesterday me rabon and my mother got up at 3 in the morning and headed down to Atlanta, GA. You wonder why I suppose, well I will tell you. We went to the Taking Back Sunday, Anberlin, and Envy On The Coast concert =). We arrived there at 7am! no one showed up till about 9 so it was crazy getting there early. And then about 7:30am Cory came from his apartment which was cool. But not the coolest part….

So at 6:30pm they stamped are hands and let us in the venue! I was front and center! and we all were on the barricade! Envy On The Coast played and the lead singer kept standing on the barricade in front of me while his mic cord was pretty much rapping my face! ha. And then of course Anberlin played and they were good as well….

Then taking Back Sunday came on! During songs he would step in front of my mom and push down her camera and sing to her!. Also during another song he pretty much held her hand for about 1 minute! Intense!!. And he also sang in front of me and rabon! which was amazingggggg..

Then they finished playing they’re songs on they’re setlist but we weren’t done hearing them so we all shouted ONE MORE SONG! And they came out and played 6 ENCORE songs!!!!! And they played Cut Me Up Jenny which they’ve never played in front of people till that night! We all felt special!! haha..

Then after they completely finished we stayed to talk to all the band members and we got our pictures with all of them.. And when we went to talk to Adam (lead singer of Taking Back Sunday) he gave my mom the tightest longest hug as he grabbed her from behind the neck ha. and he said to my mom “Oh sorry I kept pushing the camera down, I wanted you to look at me not like through the camera lens, but you know eye to eye” It was sooo cool. And then we all had long interesting talks with the rest of the guys from the bands. SO all in all this concert was amazingggg! I encourage everyone to go see Taking Back SUnday in concert. You won’t be disappointed! So go check out Taking Back Sunday at
