June 10, 2009Why Is This Necessary: Spiderman the MusicalAfter perusing the usual news sites, I came upon one particular article with some distressing news. It's right here. Since when have Bono and the Edge been into musicals? Not that there's anything wrong with it. Personally, I love musicals. But, Broadway just isn't their niche. This isn't news to me. It was reported a while ago, but now they're opening up discussion about it, because of its impending release date (February 18, 2010). There are, however, a few major issues that distress me most. If Bono and the Edge want to throw their towels into the ring, then ok, I have enough confidence in them to write good songs ("Get on Your Boots" is an exception). But don't they know that Broadway is going under? They're looking to take a major loss. If the musical isn't impeccable, it won't be seen. People who would see it solely because it's a Spiderman musical will be automatically ruled out by the current state of the economy. In the movies and comic books, Spiderman manages to keep his dignity while still running around in a tight jumpsuit. Add singing and dancing to the bit, and how will Spiderman retain the image he's built for years and years? (Confession: his image is hyper-masculine and dictated by society's standards of male behavior.) I'm just saying, are there no original ideas anymore?

May 18, 2009crappy haiku movie review of the week - spider manas we all know, there's no shortage of movie review sites out there on the web. but who among us hasn't longed for movie reviews in the form of really crappily done japanese poetry? i know i sure have! so once a week, i'll be dedicating a journal entry to a movie review in the form of a really crappy haiku. this week's movie is the story of a shy teenager who gets transformed into a web-slinging hero by the magic of science. it's sorta like cinderella for guys. only in this version, cinderella can bench press a volkswagen over his head and kick willem defoe's butt. oh, also in this version cinderella has a penis - it's spider man!
peter was a nerd till a spider nommed him now he's all sticky the end p.s. feel free to hit me up with any suggestions, and you might just get to see one of your favorite movies summed up in a really crappy haiku... Related Groups:

April 15, 2009Wednesday 15th AprilHello Buzznet friends! Well, next week I've got a bit planned. On Monday, I'm seeing Bella (panicatthediscobella) and the Dazzle Krewwwww in town! Tuesday, I'm going to town again to see the only Echelon I've met and her name is Jenn :D Then on Friday, I'm going to town, AGAIN, to see Danny Kintore and Amber Calling do a Live Instore Acoustic at We Are Godzilla. In May, I've only got one thing planned so far and thats seeing Danny Kintore and The Second Hand Squad at The Underground. June, nothing so far. A Sound Mind might be coming back from Melbourne to play a show. Glen, the guitarist, is going to text me when they know so I can sell tickets for them again. Mum is pretty excited about them coming back, she loves them. Haha. July. Well, July is what I'm excited for the most. Heck yes I am! Thats basically all I've got planned, of course I'll be going to more shows, especially Snapping Owls, Danny Kintore, Amber Calling and The FAK. OH AND SPEAKING OF THE FAK! They have a show next week and I'm free so I can go, but.
And to end this journal I'm going to write a list of reasons why I love Bradie Webb. 1. He likes Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus probably more than I do.
Thats my Bradie! Related Groups:

December 11, 2008"Spiderman: the Musical" Actually Happening
Comic books are quickly taking over Hollywood. Between this past year's hits Iron Man and The Dark Knight and with a highly anticipated movie adaptation of Watchmen in the near future, it seems like comics are becoming a viable option for Hollywood.
But what about BROADWAY? ![]() Well, apparently someone longs to test the ability of a mainstream comic to successfully adapt to the stage. Because, ladies and gentlemen, we are drawing ever closer to the premier of "Spiderman: The Musical." So, if Peter Parker running around dressing like Pete Wentz in Spiderman 3 didn't do it for you, imagine your friendly neighborhood Spiderman swinging in to rescue the girl next door Mary Jane (rumored to be played by Evan Rachel Wood), while belting out a tune. And who better to put words into the mouth of Broadway's Spidey than U2's Bono and The Edge? Honestly, folks, I can't make this stuff up. And apparently somebody's taking it very seriously, because the production is set to cost roughly $40 Million. What does that mean? Well, “a weekly running cost of $1 million, [and the show] will have to run about 8,000 years in a Broadway theater just to break even," according to the New York Post. You know what could save this for me? Having Stephen Colbert play J. Jonah Jameson and belting out a song about how he wants pictures of Spiderman. After all, Colbert DID appear in a Spiderman comic earlier this year! What do you think of the concept of a Spiderman musical? Would you pay to see it? Could you think of a superhero you'd RATHER see in a musical?

The Great Superhero Debate
Who is the greatest superhero of all time? Ok, slow down. Before you get all riled up about your answer and defending your cause, there needs to be a bit of reasonable debate. Many people will argue for Batman, Superman, Spiderman, the Hulk, Ironman, or the Flash. You won’t get a lot of votes normally for the Green Lantern, Captain America, or the Wonder Twins. But in any case, people like to talk about it.
Retailers have realized the super “sale” power of superheroes for years. Every year, there is a new action line coming out, and every year parents raid the shelves to get the right toy for their kids. This year, it may be Bakugan toys or something like this. Even girly movies can serve as heroes to girls. So Hannah Montana party favors and other trinkets get sold like hot cakes. There is something internal in all of us that wants to root for the superhero. We want to be a part of something larger. We want to root for hope, and we want to have victory. With all of that said, I want to submit my answer for the greatest superhero ever. He’s brave, just, kind, loving. strong, sacrificial, courageous and fights evil. Sound like anyone you know? Yeah, now take away the tights, and think back about 2000 years. To me, it’s so obvious. Jesus is the ultimate superhero, and in reality, not fiction. Every other character is based off of him. Everyone else are just copies.

October 2, 2008Putting Fall Out Boy's $50K Donation in Perspective
Previously, Fall Out Boy's Pete Wentz had hinted at the band doing something to fight California's Prop 8, which would overturn the state's decision to allow same-sex marriages. And it appears that the band has put their money where their mouth is, as they have donated $50,000 to the No on 8 Campaign.
Hey, let's face it, Pete Wentz has a big mouth. Let's put this in perspective, eh?
