almost perfect

I've been having a hard time recently, because everytime I go out, I compare my night to the two different weekends I had in San Francsico over the summer.  Two perfect weekends, that everything is really going to suck in comparison to.  So I've learned to stop doing that, and last night, I had a great great magical wonderful time.

Not quite perfect, but it was pretty great.
After all the drama in the office, I headed to the roxy to meet AFA and Camera Guy Alex.  We scurried around the roxy, getting everything set up, and I saw the AFA guys.  They had rented a pickup truck and had strapped all their gear to the back, I don't know HOW they did it, they are SUPER industrious.  Spencer was talking to me about all the stuff that was going on with their van and I kind of nodded and pretended i knew what the hell he was talking about.  He told me he was a mechanic- I don't know if he was kidding or not- thats kind of the way I feel all the time with Spencer.

I took that picture of Hache and Zach guarding the parking space for load in.  They look very scary.

We did the interview.  My heart was all fluttery the whole time- I'm usually only a little nervous before interviews, like just until we get the gear, and everyone where they're supposed to be.  Then once its time to get rolling, I'm fine.  But since I LIKE them so much, it was so much harder.  I didn't get un-nervous until the end of the interview, I don't know how it came out, I hope it came out good, I hope I didn't sound like an idiot.

I watched them soundcheck.  That was fun,  they played a song called Cheer up Ray, and At Least I've Tasted Love, which obviously I adore.  I wish they'd finished ALITL, I never get to hear that one.

There were a ton of people I knew at the show.  My old co-worker, Alicia was there.  And my cousin Gena, and editor Jason, and my friend Brad, and my friend Paige.  Here are some pictures I took:
Honestly, I don't think that I can even describe what its like to see them play live cause its such a mix of feelings.  First of all, its me saying "TOLD YOU SO TOLD YOU SO" to everyone who didn't believe me when I said they're the greatest rock and roll band playing right now.  Also, they're so good, I sometimes think that if they got any tighter or more dynamic or more creative with their arrangements, they'd cause some kind of supersonic explosion and everyone watching would suddenly find that their faces had melted off.

Also, Hache looks like he's from almost famous, which adds a strange comedic aspect to the show.

Oh man I had such a good time at their set.  I stayed for some of the second band, but AFA is such a tough act to follow, I just wasn't feeling it.  So Brad, Paige and I packed up and went to the Rainbow room, and I ate like my first real meal of the day.   We had a great time, and Paige's friend Acacia joined us, and we all sat around and talked about the music people we knew back on the east coast and they talked about how much fun they had on the rock boat, which is this amazing rocky adventure that I've always wanted to go on but have never been able to swing.

We left the Rainbow just before midnight when the Roxy was letting out and I said goodnight to everyone and headed home to have sweet rock and roll dreams which are a VAST improvement over my recent scary haunted dreams.

:-)

yayayayay. Only 19 more days til they're back!
