The Blackout, Silverstein, The Urgency and Hollywood Undead gig, 15/5/09

Okay, so before I start this thing off, lets just say that the gig was about 2 hours drive away, I only went to see Hollywood Undead and Silverstein and Seb is my boyfriend...but it's really complicated between us so we won't go there.

So anyway, me and Seb got picked up from college in the afternoon and my mum drove us to Yeovil, where the gig venue was.  Wwhen we got inside the venue, they checked my bag and made me surrender my liquid eyeliner, body spray and comb (wtf?  What am I gonna do with a comb, stab somebody?), then we went into the main room.  Surprisingly, not many people were actually there then, only about 40 or so.

Anyway, the Urgency came out - they were pretty good considering I'd never heard any of their music before.  After their set was over, me and Seb went out for a cigarette, and got talking to a couple of girls - one of which was fucking 12 years old!!!  The minimum age limit was 14.  But yeah, so then we went back inside and watched Hollywood Undead - me and Seb love their stuff so we screamed along every song, and when Seb wasn't behind me with his arms around me, he was in the moshpits. After their set was over, we went outisde for another cigarette and Seb started talking to some guys he "met" in the moshpits.  I think he made a few new friends (that he'll probably never see again)...he certainly came back with a few girls mobile numbers.

When we got inside Silverstein had just started playing so me and Seb each bought a bottle of water (they took the lids off the bottles - again with the stupid scratching thing) and Seb tipped some of his over my head, so I tipped half of mine down my bra ;)  Silverstein weren't actually as good as I thought though...I kinda found them a bit too...I don't know, I just couldn't get into them.  So basically we moshed all the way through Silverstein's set.  After they were done playing, we went outside yet again and talked to some more people.  When we heard cheering inside, we went back in to find the Blackout had just started playing!  For their set, we were moshing at times, at others we just stood and watched.  The Blackout were really good - I thought they sounded a bit pop-rock-y, but they weren't - they were more screamo than I imagined.

So.  After the bands had finished playing, we went over to the merch table and I bought a Hollywood Undead tee and a The Blackout one, and we both got our tickets signed - and photos taken - with Sean Smith (the Blackout) and someone from Hollywood Undead.  Then we went outside and found the lead singer of The Urgency signing autographs - we got our tickets signed by and photos taken with him as well, and talked to him for a bit - and he was really nice.  Check them out on myspace, they need more support.

Basically then, that was our night.  I discovered that when you go to a gig with a mate/boyfriend then you actually get a chance to get things signed!

  The Blackout

The Urgency (lead singer has the long brown hair)

  Hollywood Undead

Silverstein (really bad pic but it was the best I could find)
