Dia De Los Muertos on Buzznet!

Every year, on the 1st and 2nd of November, The Day of the Dead, or Dia de los Muertos, is celebrated in Mexico and various cities in the United States. The Day of the Dead is a celebration of the lives of those that have left this world, as remembered by those they left behind. While this celebration has been going on for quite some time, it has only been as of late that scores of people in the United States have been attending the festivities.

The Day of the Dead, or Dia de los Muertos as it is known in Spanish, is a celebration that began in the Aztec culture. Without going into some elaborate history lesson, it was only later when the Catholic overtones were added. With the rising of the Mexican culture in America, Dia de los Muertos can be observed in large urban areas throughout the United States.

Take a peek at how some of your fellow Buzznet-ers celebrated the occasion:

TrustNo1, along with Kitten76, ventured into Mexico and snapped some amazing photos of Dia de los Muertos. You can rumage through TrustNo1's gallery here. Check out some highlights:

There is a lot of amazing imagery and artwork that comes from Dia de los Muertos. This is but the tip of the iceberg. If you have any photos or recollections of this strange time, let us know!
