Money for Nothin' - ATM Scam

Man walks into a gas station's convenience store that has an ATM. He walks up to the ATM with a prepaid debit card and types in the secret password. He requests $10, and gets $40. And he does this more than a few times, or so the story goes.

Do the math: request $250 and get $1000 back - Money for nothin', as the song goes.

The man apparently had a security code which supposedly allowed him to reconfigure the ATM machine to believe that it was filled with 5$ bills instead of $20 bills. When you go to withdraw money, you get 4 times the expected dollar amount.

It seems, however, that the criminal walked away and left the machine in that mode. After nine days of use, someone finally reported that the machine was giving out too much money to the store clerk.

People are getting rich quick in Virginia Beach, VA. See it all here in this CNN news report.

Damn, wish I had known. My luck I'd be in line after the stupid ass "samaritan."

Abbs, you had nine days to get there. Thought you were "connected."
Abbzinthe: 10/20/2006 5:40 PM
Honey, nobody is more disconnected then I am.

Don't bet on that, Abbs, don't bet on that. Maybe someday I'll tell you about my car keys... twice this week.
