March 13, 2008

The world is a wonderful place.

I'm happy. See, I've just had a shower and I'm clean and I'm going to see the school play with a few of my favourite people.

Now, I don't mean favourite as in people i like more than others. I just mean that they make me feel good and I like being around them.

I've always thought I was a really boring, uninteresting, selfish, whiny person. But I like myself better around them. They are truly, some of the coolest people on earth. I really like them. lol.

I feel like I'm in somesort of airy wave. Or maybe it's just the cozily intense heat of Global Warming that surrounds me. I dunno.

I kinda have this small urge to couple up all the people around me. I like it when everyone is happy.

Tomorrow, I've got Head of the River. It's a huge rowing race thing where tonnes of schools compete in and there are about 15, 000 people there, 3000 of which are rowers. But we get free food. Which is probably the best bit for me coz the actual race will probably make me really nervous. I'm, like, the worst rower of my crew, I just, get in a bit of frenzy once we start racing. but at least I feel like I kinda belong. Also, I have to ge up at 5AM tomorrow morning. lol. but whatev.

Anyway, I must go and have dinner coz I feel hungry.

I love the smell of food. It's better than any perfume, mostly coz I have hayfever. lol.

Random, lol.

I'm gonna have dinner now.

S'laters everyone!

Have a wonderful night! I hope u all have someone cool to spend time with.

Bye!

Red sponges and Oxfam day (a green coloured charity)

Ok, it's not really Oxfam day but at school, it's free dress day as in, we don't wear school uniform and just wear casual clothes and we're supposed to wear some green to support Oxfam. also, it's cultural diversity week. so basically we wear orange ribbons all week that support being culturally diverse. lol.

Anyway, I have an idea. But knowing me, it's stupid. lol. I've been sporting this idea for a while but I'm thinking, since there's all this global warming shit going around, it's apparently shifted the clouds so they rain over the ocean, yeah? so, I'm thinking we should build like a really big Red sponge and we'll suspend it in clouds that hang over the ocean and it'll absorb the water that's in the clouds and we bring it back to where we need it and put it in a water tank and we've got cloud water! I'll admit, this is probably one of the stupidesy ideas I've ever had but it's exciting. also, why a red sponge, I hear you ask? well, red is a bit intimidating as a sponge colour so people, fish and other creatures of the world will not get in the way of saving the world. See, it's intimidating in a visually non-verbal sort of way. lol.

Anyway, I have school soon. It's gonna be really hot today and it's my last official rowing training session for this season and then on saturday, we've got a huge regatta. I'm so scared but excited at the same time. I've grown to like rowing, even if it is really hard work.

Well, this was me updating. I'm surprised this is what I chose to write about. lol.

S'laters everyone!

Have a fab-tastic day!

Rowing stuff

I just had a thought about last weekend. You know how I said I was at Head of School girls regatta? Yeah, well the place we were staying at had these random floral arrangements. It  was basically just a vase with 2 big shoots of Bamboo sticking out. It was funny coz it interfered with everything when we sat at tables. At dinner on the first night, I was sitting opposite Nat and everytime we looked at eachother, our faces were cut in half. lol.

Anyway, I've got my last regatta for this rowing season and it's the biggest one too. It's called Head of the River and I'm kinda excited coz it's supposed to be huge. Let's hope the weather doesn't burn.

It's the long weekend this weekend coz we have a public holiday on monday. I have no idea why it's so but I'm not one to question it. I just need to figure out what I'm gonna do tomorrow.

S'laters everyone! Have a lovely day!

So...I've returned?

Yeah, so the The Head of School Girls Regatta is over. which is kinda sad coz it was so much fun but pretty tiring. We came second in our final yesteray! That makes me happy. In the words of  my fellow crew mate Dom, "That was the best we've ever mother-fucking rowed!" lol.

And also, on Friday I gots myself some braces. They hurt and they're giving me ulcers, and, everytime I smile, it looks like I'm secretly plotting, which I'm not. My plotting is never done in secret.

Anyway, There's a loose wire or something in my back tooth and it's cutting into me and giving me ulcers so I'm going to the orthodontist in about 20 mins to get it fixed. and I've been eating fruit jelly, liquid breakfast things and yoghurt. Even though, the first meal I ate when i got them was KFC (chicken nuggets and chips). lol. I have a science prac test today which means I have to use bunsen burners which are scary things. I don't like matches and fire. I'm not very used to being near intense heat, like some people... lol, that could've been used as a pun (wink, wink).

Well, I handed in all my essays and assessments and shit so I'm just sort of awaiting my next module on Wednesday which will include a unit on the environment.

Well, must go. My teeth need to get fixed.

S'laters everyone!

Have a great day!

Shani ;)

Must post more...

Ok, it's been 6 Days!!!

I'm sorry guys, but rowing takes up way more time than you'd think. And this week is also exams week since we're finnishing up a unit every 4 weeks except for our English unit. R&J can be so hard sometimes.

So, the big thing happening this week is another Regatta. Oh, and i'm getting braces on Friday morning. lol.

The Regatta is a super long one. I'm gonna be away in another city for 3 days! It starts on Friday after I get my braces and then I have to go and row until Sunday.

It's long coz this one's called the Head of School Girls regatta and it's kinda like this really huge one for all the school girls who row. But, this being my first time doing it, I just think it's a bit long. But it's after my exam crap and also I'm missing school swimming for rowing which is good. I just can't legally call pool water, water. It's a bit chlorinatedly disgusting.

Last Wednesday, I went to the Orthodontist and he put bands to make room in between the back of my teeth and they were really sore for ages and they still kinda are coz my teeth are like being pushed and pulled against eachother so that there's room to put braces in. But I've taken some Ibuprofen so I feel alright.

I spent the whole of yesterday just doing homework. It was english and French. I'm supposed to write about and explain similes, metaphors, oxymorons, personifications and puns that were used in the play. It took a while but I got it done and managed to make it seem interesting.

As for French, there's this huge project on paris that i had to do. It's sorta doen but when writing about Notre Dame cathedral, i remembered that movie and book about it. Both stories were a bit different but it made me want to re-read all my favourite fairytales. So I read the Little Mermaid and stuff. It has really good pictures. lol

Last night, I was watching Grey's Anatomy. It was good. I like that show.

Btw, if you've sent me a note more than 3-ish weeks ago, I'm probably not gonna reply. I'ms orry, it's just I dont' have the time to go back and go through them. It takes a fair bit of energy to properly reply to people's notes.

Anyway, I've got school in a bit and I have to break the news that i can't swim to my friend Alex who's kinda the person in charge house events. Poor thing.

Have a great day, everyone!

S'latrers,

Shani :)

February 17, 2008

Hey everyone!

It's Monday today. I have school in 45-ish minutes.

Anyway, on Friday I went over to Adrienne's house with Sarah so we could take pics for our english project. The current unit is Romeo and Juliet. We're supposed to make up a newspaper headline, preferably making it a pun, for every scene in Act 1 and taking a photo for each one.

Taking photos was hilarious. We made all our R&J characters either very metrosexual since we were all girls or we just made them wear weird clothing (adrienne has a dress ups basket. lol). For Romeo, we got a piece of red cardboard and made one of those paper hats and labelled it 'Romeo'. lol. But it kept falling off at soem point random people started drawing on it. My friend Callum drew a ladybug on it. lol.

I had rowing training on Saturday but it only went for 2 hours except it started at 7AM-9AM so I had to get up at 5AM. It was a little painful but I kinda went to bed at 7:30PM the previous night. I was really tired alot last week coz rowing's on tuesdays and thursdays and it finnishes at 7PM so, whenever I get home, I shower, have dinner and crash.

In training we usually just go our in crews on boat for 4 people and the place we train at is a rowing shed right next to a river called the Yarra. It's really dirty though. So, you don't really wnat to drink from it or anything like that. we spotted a dead eel once. lol.

It was weird though, coz on Sunday my stomach muscles were a little sore. But then again, the crew I was rowing with finnished later so when we got back, everyone else had gone home. lol.

In my crew, we have a super nice coach. She's really good with technique and stuff.  Her name's anna and she's got blond hair and she has nicely toned and tanned legs. My friend Raph, who also does rowing, thinks she's hot, which is kinda true. lol.

Anyway, today, is nothing special. I've just got school and shit. lol.

Have a great day!

s'laters,

shani :)

February 6, 2008

just a quick update...

Hi Everyone!

School's going well. Even though the rules are stricter, like, You get an automatic detention for being late to class so that part's bad but the classes are quite good. The subjects english, maths, etc are written as what the unit is about for example we're doing Romeo and Juliet for English so our class is just called R & J. lol.

Anyway, for r & j we had to write our own sonnet which was really hard to do. There are so many rules and stuff. But I've done mine now. I wrote it all last night. It's a sonnet about me writing a sonnet! I'd thought up the first two lines in the shower, lol, but I didn't wnat to forget so I practiically ran out to write it down (I dried myself first of course). I often think up interesting things in the shower, lol. But the bad thing is that I can't write it down coz paper's not waterproof. lol. In my sonnet, I did mention that I'd thought up those two lines in the shower. lol.

In printmaking, since each unit only goes for a Term (9-ish weeks) we've already started drawing stuff for free piece. I did a frog prince hanging out of a mug that has a pair of lips on it. I got the idea after searching Google when I found this:

It's a Book Cover for the Frog Prince. lol.

Anyway, I had rowing on Tuesday and it was pretty fun. So now I'm not so sure if I'll quit so soon. Me and rowing is like a push and pull relationship, eh? lol.

S'laters everyone, Have a beautiful day!

Winnie The Pooh's the Shiz! lol. I used to absolutely LOVE that show!

Bye!

February 3, 2008

I'm surprised to be alive

Rowing camp finnished yesterday but I could barely move today, I limped my way through school. lol. It made me look so pathetic. i got all these blisters on my hands and feet and tonnes of them have popped and now there's a lot of stinging right now. I'm just in terrible pain right now, lol. My back muscles are sore. which is kinda funny coz I never thought you could get sore there.

But I quite like first aid products now, lol. I went to the shops to get more bandaids and stuff and I stayed an extra bit to check out the various first aid products there are like tea tree antiseptic cream, lol, and mini bottles of ibuprofen (whatever that is, if you know what it is, let me know! i just want the bottles, lol) and finger tape and bandage-tape-things and heat packs and ice packs and those cast things you can put on your  sprained kness, ankles and wrists. lol. I know, I know, it's weird but it was just so fascinating to look at them all.

So, rowing camp was a nightmare, I have rowed a total of 8 hours and have run (up vertical hills and along horizontal pathways) for many kilometres or miles or whatever units you like for the rest of the hours that make 13 and half hours. But it was all pain. It's coz we have a race next week and most of us don't know shit about racing and we're not that fit either. lol. Some of our coaches are nice but then there are some really mean and tough ones. Me and some others got the worst injuries. Our blisters have popped and so on. I've lost layers of skin in various areas of the hands and feet. lol.

The coaches go out on speedboats to watch our rowing techniques and when we were bringing it back in, the speedboat ran over the toe of one of the girls I was rowing with. Poor girl. It would've really hurt. Those who do printmaking; you know the printing press? those particularly large ones that are like a metre high?? Yeah, them. It's almost like one of those on your toes. They can split your fingers if they roll over them and that's happened to past students at school. Poor things.

Anyway, one funny thing that happened at camp was that we were rowing and we managed to accidentally beach it onto a sandy and mossy bank full of reeds. Our coach was like, "OMG! You've beached it and there isn't even a beach!" lol. One of the girls had to get her foot out and push along the bank and it was kinda gross but then we were rowing again.

Rowing isn't exactly the best type of sport for me. I think after this season I'll switch to softball. I'm just not strong enough to handle the stuff we have to do. Even if we do get some pretty nice tans on our arms and legs. lol.

Tomorrow, some of my friends will go off to Clunes. They'll be gone for about 8 weeks. I'm gonna miss them soo much. =(

But on the upside...my friend Steph has a new boyfriend! lol. And it's good coz he's a virgo and she's a Taurus. They're hugely compatible! lol. except she's one of the friends going off to Clunes. I'll miss her loads. =(  There are about 5 Steph's in our year level so we call this Steph "Shauser" coz her last name's Hauser. My new homeroom teacher's also a Taurus, my yr 7 homeroom/french tecaher was also a Taurus lol, she has a beautiful singing voice (both steph and my yr 7 teacher).

lol, another plus is that I've discovered a bakery near by that sells cream puffs, coffee bread (something for my mum) and peach muffins!

I'm slowly, slowly, making somesort of a recovery.

S'laters everyone!

Wishing you all happy wishes especially to John (ounceofwentz) who I hear, has a stomach virus. Hang in there, my friend.

Shani =)

November 30, 2007

Wow, a strange day.

So today is December 1st. Which means MCR is playing tonight in my city. I looked it up on tour dates. I'm not going. I've never been to a concert and  i don't reckon I will for a while. I feel too young and too little to go to one. Even though tonnes of my friends who are the same age got to concerts. I probably won't end up going to open until I finnish highschool. I just don't feel old enough. Plus, I'm small, which means I'd get trampled.

It's funny coz in Science we had to watch an episode of CSI for some reason and then we had to make our own crime story. I would've made the suspects random family and friends as well as some carnival folk because of the crime scene. I was thinking of something along the lines where some guy's girlfriend is found dead in a circus tent and her body looks to have been trampled and partially mutilated at the hands and feet and it kinda looks like the circus elephant did it or something weirdly sinister and somehow it turns out that the boyfirend was secretly a psychotic cannibal who cornered her in the tent except an elephant did get in the way and killed the girl by trampling her but when she's dead her boyfriend eats parts of her hands and feet raw. Wow, that's so gross. But I'm a sick minded person who incorporates cannibalism into daily conversations. It makes sense why that TBS lyric "you could slit my throat/and with my one last gasping breath/I'd apologize for bleedin' on your shirt" from the song You are so last Summer is very much loved mostly coz it's kinda extreme but oh so sweet to me.

I dunno, I guess I'm just fascinated by why killers mutilate people in murder and the act of murder itself is fascinating. I mean, I'd never kill anyone despite what peopel think, no matter how pissed or psychotic I'd turn out, so it's foreign to me; the reasons for why murder happens. Surely, they would've had common sense not to do it but it happens anyway. Also in Humanities (also known as SOSE, I dunno why, though), we're learning about Jack the Ripper and he was some scary-ass killer and he was also the first serial killer. My SOSE teacher is really cool and explains things so fascinatingly but she's taught year 8 for many years, I think and she probably teaches the same things to every year. I wonder how she keeps her interest in these things so lively. It's amazing.

Anyway, it's an interesting day today. I had rowing in the morning. I've recently been having doubts towards how much enjoyment I'm actually getting out of rowing and the things I learn from it but I think I really do like it. Today we went out in an 8 (person boat) and the person who was our cox, or coxswain, which is the person at the head of the boat who doesn't row but gives directions to steer the boat, was this girl called Cassie from one of our other school campuses (there's 3). She was really nice and she was awesome at steering except it was funny coz she made us stop every so often as she told us she would so we wouldn't crash and so she could see stuff and we made other boats in the river wait for us and it was funny. I loved it.

I have a family friend dinner I have to go to tonight. I'll probably end up reading and not socialising coz my family friends are either really old (well, like my parents age) or really young. I might finally bring Jane Eyre with me since it's so lengthy and I'll end up being hugely entertained if I actually manage to read it and understand it coz my reading level isn't all that advanced and Jane Eyre seems like something that's not so easy to read or written in plain english (another reason why I thought it's like up there with Jane Austen books). But mum says that the sentences are beautiful. I don't doubt her but well, we shall see.

I've showered and I feel good and clean. One more thing before I go, just something I've been thinking about: Veganism (and possibly some type of humanitarian) is hardcore vegetarian and Cannibalism is hardcore Carnivore-ism (lol, that could've rhymed if not for the 'ism'. Hardcore, carnivore, lol). Vegetarians can protest against carnivores while Humanitarians can protest against cannibalism (being eaten isn't all that fun).

Until next time,

Shani

November 28, 2007

TBS, I love you! (suggestions needed)

Right now, that song You are so last summer by Taking Back Sunday is very much loved by me. I especially love the line "you could slit my throat/and with my one last gasping breath/I'd apologize for bleedin' on your shirt"

yes, I know, it is a kinda dark and a sorta carnal lyric. But at the same time, it just sounds so sweet, Adam Lazzara sings it well. It's like you love someone so much, that even if they kill you, you'll be sorry it was inconvenient for them. aww, like, that's adorable. Now, I'm not very good with correctly analysing what a song is about but that's what that lyric makes me think of.

Anyway, I've got  rowing tomorrow. I didn't go last thursday coz of the play. I do miss the play. I loved the performing and then after it was over, we'd be backstage and we'd all scream and shout and hug eachother. We'd all be like,

"you were awesome!"

"no, you were awesome!"

"no." (points finger and narrows eyes at person) "you, were awesome."

lol.

Anyway, it's technically day 2 of reporting my cold/cough/sickness that's been going on for about 5 days. I'm slowly, slowly getting better yet getting worse. Maybe, i'm just the same and just getting a bit too optimistic.

So... buzznetters.

you like words, right?

ok, i wouldn't have asked if i didn't need some inspiration from friends. so, i'm doing like a page on like a glossary of 50-ish girly words and so far, i've got about 50 except i wanna replace some of them so i can write about these words for example: Girly- this word is associated with anyone who is a touch more feminine than the average person.

Now, that's an actual one that I'm putting into my project. People are actually commenting on my journals now which is good so i'm wondering if you hav any words that you think are girly that you can suggest? I'd love to know your ideas and I'll probably put you guys collectively into the acknowledgements section of my project. I always do that for most of my creative ones. I'll probably call you guys like 'a team of super genius-ly inspirational people' (My english teacher is a mild mannered but very accepting teacher, so he probably won't deduct marks from a lack of proper grammar and spelling in this case). how's that sound? of course, that name can go through tweaking. so, suggest away!

Until next time,

Shani
