Coachella 2007 (Day 2) ----> getting into the groove....

Friday was long, but Saturday was longer.  I woke up at 7:30am to meet up with the AAA tow truck.  It turns out, both my back tires had to be replaced.  There was a bubble on the inside of the back left one.  We were so lucky that nothing worse happened!

Then it was off to the Buzznet/ WESC/ Anthem Magazine party - complete with Rony's Photo Booth

The Buzznet/ WESC/ Anthem lagoon

We left around 3ish to head over to the festival.  Our goal was to make it to see Hot Chip at 4pm.  There were a lot more folks coming out this time around.  I did make it back in time to catch a bit of Peter, Bjorn & John.  It was just a tiny crumb though.

The view of the Coachella Stage

Here's what I did manage to see:

Kings of Leon --->  These guys rock.  I wasn't that into this band a few years ago, but the Kings of Leon have grown on me recently.  I guess that Jetta commerical really got to me afterall.

The Arcade Fire --->  I have always been a fan of this multi-instrumental collective from Montreal.  It was my first experience seeing them live.  It was magical.

Blonde Redhead --->  I must admit, my pictures of this band turned out really well.  Stay tuned - Missy is on the case fixing up her photo gallery!  Watching Kazu Makino on stage is mesmorizing.  The way she moves her body in sync with the Italian twins is not to be missed.

LCD Soundsystem --->  This was the show to see on Saturday.  James Murphy is an absolute genius.  All of us were blown away!  It's even better live than on the records, if you can believe that.

The Good, The Bad and The Queen --->  There were technical problems on stage, so the band came on a good 30 minutes late.  Such a shame, but they started to play their entire album.  I love that concept - experiencing an album live in its entirety.  I didn't stay for the whole set, but I hope they got to play most of it.

So we headed back after that.  I found this guy's PDA on the ground, and luckily managed to return it to him.  And in that crowd, that was a true miracle!  Long day and too tired for after parties, I managed to sleep really well that evening.

[footnote:  I am listening to Little Radio (based out of Silverlake) right now, and the DJs were just chatting about Coachella - no joke.  One chica ended up having to sleep in her car due to last minute travel planning.  She goes on to say, "I used a towel as a blanket... and I'm 30."  What a great moment in live radio!]

California stole my heart ♥...

Hello loves,

On march 24th I experienced the most amazing birthday a girl could ask for. I was Jeffree Stars princess. When I found out I won the contest, about four weeks ago I became excited for what Jeffree and Buzznet had in store for me. On Friday, March 23rd I took a short flight from Syracuse, [where I live] to New York City's JFK airport. Since I had a four hour layover at JFK, my friend Edson [my DF lil' bro!] who lives in NYC visited me and we had lunch in the airport. At 4:45 east coast time I departed JFK and arrived in Burbank California [right outside Hollywood] at 8:00 west coast time. I had never been on a 5 hour flight, it was tiring but I knew it would be worth it :).

Upon arrival, Buzznet's marketing manager, Karen Hart [k-ron] picked me up and took me back to the hotel. We got lost a little bit along the way. Right Karen? ;) haha. The Hotel, the Renaissance was located right in the heart of Hollywood. When we walked into the room I couldn't believe how nice and huge it was! I definitely started feeling like a princess at this point. Karen gave me the prize spending money from Buzznet, a big hug, and left shortly after.

I had texted a friend I met through the DF, Enola, when I arrived at Burbank so she could meet me at the hotel. Enola stayed in the hotel with me so I wouldn't have to stay there alone. Haha. Thanks Noluh. Since Karen and Jeffree weren't picking me up till noon on Saturday, Enola and I decided to wander around Hollywood. Before we went out we had to get all 'prettied up'. This involved make-up, and dancing around the room when AFI was played on the radio. mhm. hahaha. I had never been to Hollywood before, so Enola showed me around a bit. Did you know there are faux Captain Jack Sparrow's walking around the streets of Hollywood? Neither did I.  After aimlessly walking around for like an hour trying to decide where to eat, we stumbled upon Johnny Rockets. While I was convinced they would have nothing for vegetarians, I was surprised to find a veggie burger on the menu! Yay. Veggie burger + onion rings= yum. After a few hours I really started to feel the jet lag so we went back to the hotel to get some beauty sleep.

Saturday was a whirlwind of events! I woke up at 9:30 I believe so I could get ready for my big day. My boyfriend called me to wish me a happy birthday. Awe. Getting ready consisted of showering, blow-dryers, makeup, and more dancing around to AFI [you love it. AFI fans are truly one of a kind you know. ;)] Enola and I ate a complimentary breakfast in the hotels restaurant. I ordered a delicious cheese and egg quesadilla. Yum.

At about noon we heard a knock on the door. It was Karen, Bree, and Jeffree :D! I was SO nervous to meet my queen. They walked in and I literally gasped at the beauty that is Jeffree Star. Wow. Gorgeous I tell you. Jeffree gave me a huge hug. Lucky for me, he decided not to wear heels that day. Haha, I’m only 5ft tall. We went down to the hotel lobby and got in Karen’s car. First adventure of the day was mani/pedi's at some cute place, I can't seem to recall the name of it. We spent a couple hours at the mani/pedi place. It was so nice and relaxing. I got my nails and toes painted black [b/c I’m so scene like that. obv. haha]. While I was getting my nails done Davey Havok walked in to give Jeffree a hoodie of sorts. They embraced, Davey gave Jeffree a cupcake, then he left. Adorable I tell you, simply precious.

After getting fabulous mani/pedi's we all headed to a frozen yogurt place called Pinkberry. There's a video of Jeffree, me, Miss E, Meghan Mayhem, Karen, and Enola at Pinkberry on Jeffree's page. It's silly and cute. Check it out here: http://jeffreestar.buzznet.com/user/video/play/192702/ . That smoothie was really good! mhm. After Pinkberry we headed to Sephora, then MAC to buy some makeup for my makeover. $120 later [wow!] we were set for some make up magic. We all went back to the hotel to meet Rony[the photographer] and Shannon [the camera guy], then Enola left. Jeffree is truly an artist with make-up. The queen really made me look like a princess :). Then we did a lovely photo shoot and video documentation of some of the day. Rony's photos: http://ronysphotobooth-jeffreestarsprincess.buzznet.com/user/photos/ .

After the photo shoot we went back out into Hollywood for a birthday dinner at California Pizza Kitchen. The pizza was delicious. When we were done eating, the waitress brought me a piece of cheesecake with a lit candle and everyone sang Happy Birthday! :D I'm not a teenager anymore, but being twenty is such a teaser age. Right Karen? haha. After dinner we went to Sanrio [the Hello Kitty store]. Jeffree bought an adorable PJ set and a cute HK plush that has little rollerblades on its feet. Awe. I bought the cutest pairs of HK undies and a ballerina style HK plush doll.

We went back to the hotel, Rony took some more photos, and by that time it was almost time for me to go to the airport! The day went by so fast and I loved every minute of it. I packed my things. I truly didn't want to leave. California stole my heart. Hugs were exchanged and goodbyes were said. Jeffree was a doll. He made me feel welcome and comfortable in my own skin. I wish him all the success in the world. He deserves it. Karen and Bree drove me to the airport around 7:30 to catch my flight back to NYC. I took one last look at California and sighed. I missed it already. I flew the 'red eye' to NYC then to Syracuse, it was very exhausting.

I know this turned out to be incredibly long, so I commend anyone who is able and willing to read the whole thing haha. I want to thank Buzznet.com, Jeffree, Karen, Bree, Miss E, Meghan Mayhem, Enola, Shannon, and Rony for making me feel at home in L.A. This is an experience I will NEVER forget. You're all wonderful. I'm hoping to make it back to California sooner, rather than later to look at some graduate programs at various universities across the state. I hope I get to see all of you again! I'm really excited. I'll be done at SU May 2009. It seems like a long time, but I know it will go by quickly. I need a change of scenery. Being in California made me feel like a whole new person. It was refreshing. The heart-locket watch around my neck is still set on west coast time...I think I’ll keep it that way.

Thanks for everything Buzznet & Jeffree, I truly felt like a princess. Best birthday a girl could ask for.

Love always,

-Christina

<3 xoxo

Hanna Beth and Audrey Kitching: Webmasters!

There are different schools of thought on how to run a web site, but all do agree that a competent  webmaster is essential.  Here at Buzznet, we realize that the best man for the job might in fact be two reigning princesses of the Internet, in this case Hanna Beth and Audrey Kitching.

The two are fully equipped with O'Reilly reference books (Webmaster in a Nutshell: A Desktop Quick Reference and Action Script for Flash MX: The Definitive Guide); so what could go wrong?

Thanks to Rony's Photo Booth for this peek behind the Buzznet scenes.

Look how cute I am.

Photos snapped by Rony of Ronysphotobooth.

We had a Buzznet/Cartel Afterparty the other day. Good times were had. I'm sure video will surface soon that shows how nerdy I am: I was drinking Naked Juice and talking to my mom on the phone. At a party with free alcohol.

I'm a winner.

That's Kron, myself, and breesays.

Jaime, myself, my last roommate Sue, and Felicia. Sue and I will kill you.

Todd (Headphonic), Allan (poxline) and Parker. Hot.
