So in light of the fact that I am currently re-reading Stiff by Mary Roach, I've started thinking about the life of my body when the life of my mind is over.

Will I just lay under the ground with too many chemicals for bugs to even want to eat me in a steel box they can't even penetrate? Not very helpful.
Will I be burned to a crispie and scattered somewhere significant? Better then option A but still not great.
Will I help researchers make the lives of future generations safer, healthier, and happier? Now this sounds like a good option.

That's right ladies and gentlemen, I will be donating my vacated corpse to research.

A lot of people have a lot of different views on this. Mine are basically::
I'm not doing anything with my body, why shouldn't it be put to good use?
It's certainly better then taking up space in some cemetary that no one really wants to visit in a steel box and full of chemicals so that I can't even help nature much less humankind.
And cremation is expensive, and hot!! (LoL)
To me, it just seems like the best option.

Now I mentioned Ms. Roach's book because it's what sparked this thought, now I have two (very long) quotes from the first few pages of her introduction that really sum it up for me, and are entertaining to me. =D

"The way I see it, being dead is not terribly far off from being on a cruise ship. Most of your time is spent lying on your back. The brain has shut down. The flesh begins to soften. Nothing much new happens, and nothing is expected of you.
If I were to take a cruise, I would prefer that it be one of those research cruises, where the passengers, while still spending much of the day lying on their backs with blank minds, also get to help out with a scientist's research project. These cruises take their passengers to unknown, unimagined places. They give them the chance to do things they would not otherwise get to do. I guess I feel the same way about being a corpse. Why lie around on your back when you can do something interesting and new, something useful?"

"In exchange for their experiences, these cadavers agree to a sizable amount of gore. They are dismembered, cut open, rearranged. But here's the thing: They don't endure anything. Cadavers are our superheroes: They brave fire without flinching, withstand falls from tall buildings and head-on car crashes into walls. Now I know a lot of people don't like the idea of having their body cut open and "degraded" in front of a bunch of medical students, but think about this. Would you want one of those medical students heading your open heart surgery if they hadn't had some practice in the field and knew exactly what they were doing? Didn't think so. Well, someone has to be the test dummy for these students to become these surgeons that save lives, and after your dead, promise you won't care!!

Of course my view is not the only view out there, but this is my blog. =P

Bleh. I'm drained. I went out two days in a row. Do you know how uncommon that is for me? I'm a cave dweller; I tend not to leave my house unless it's for school. If I leave the house, I panic, haha. Just kidding.



So. What's a better topic than the military dude throwing the puppy off the cliff. (noises of "ooohs and ahhhhs" are supplied.)

Well, firstly. I want to share my theory of how the video is fake. actually, rather how the puppy must have been already dead or must have been fake. Number one reason: why the hell isn't the puppy's whining fading as it's being thrown into the distance? It stays at the same volume level the whole way down. Second reason: with such a small weight, there is no way the video camera, or whatever source of recording, would have been able to pick up the sound of the puppy hitting the bottom of the cliff. Cliff means long way down. Long way down means smaller thump thump. Third reason: any puppy grabbed that way would have already been squirming and whinging. It wouldn't have waited until it was being thrown to start whining. It was being grabbed by it's scruff. I don't know about you, but I think that would be uncomfortable which means it would have decided to whine at least a little bit.

I am an extreme animal rights thinker. I think it's extremely wrong when people abuse animals. But even I, someone who gets really mad at cases involving animal cruelty, took some time to think about this video before I went onto that soldiers account to bash him or bash the videos of him. After thinking thoroughly and talking about it, I realized that there was no way that video could have been the way it was displayed.
And even if it was, I don't think I would be so focused on the fact that this guy killed a puppy. This guy is a soldier. He's probably had to kill PEOPLE. There is no way I'd be more focused on the fact that this guy killed a dog rather than the fact that he or his friends had killed a couple humans.

It's rather ridiculous that I've seen people commenting the video of this incident saying," He should be torchered and thrown off a cliff for doing this."
What about for him killing the people over there where he's stationed? I don't know, maybe he's one of the lucky ones that hasn't had to be apart of that job, but some of his fellow soldiers have been a part of it. But we're too focused on what possibly might have been a fake animal killing.

And you're too focused on the puppy incident to find out what really happens in Israel. I've found out (from unreliable sources AKA my family members) that basically, Israel and Palestine are going through their own Holocaust. I'm not completely sure though. It was one of those facts that come into a conversation at random.

Anyway, I find all the controversy over this little incident hilarious. Everyone is getting all crazy over it, claiming that this is one of the many reasons why other countries must hate the US. Ugh, nononononono. Countries hate us for our selfishness. We weren't going to help out with the Holocaust. We only got involved because of Pearl Harbor. Had it not been for that, we probably would have just sat there like nothing was happening. Other countries hate the US because we do about anything to get our oil. I'm not saying the US is a bad country, I'm just saying that a soldier throwing a puppy off a cliff doesn't qualify as to why other countries dislike it. It might possibly be a reason, it's just not a MAJOR reason like some people were trying to make it seem.

Hopefully, this is informative and have possibly changed the minds of some people.
