I don't think that it has done either harm or good. I think that PEOPLE are the ones that take things to the extreme, THEY are the ones that have done more harm than good! Personally I'm Christian, I believe in God, I pray every night before bed, I ask for guidance and help, my beliefs give me peace at times. I have NEVER felt the need to bomb an abortion clinic, march outside a soldiers funeral spewing hate filled dialog, I don't think that I'm superior to anyone else in their religion or beliefs. Buzznet Movie Review: The Golden CompassI can’t presume to have read any of Phillip Pullman’s His Dark Materials trilogy, though friends are surprised that I haven’t read a fantasy trilogy based so seriously on attacking religious dogma. (Am I a bad atheist? Probably.)
My excitement for the film version of the first novel, Northern Lights, (called “The Golden Compass” here in the states), was limited, mostly because I didn’t know much about the source material.
