Opposites attract
If i had to describe myself in one word, i wouldn't be able to. If i had to stereotype myself, i wouldn't be able to. I think i'm that different. I'm not unique, but I do have qualities that don't exactly go together. Yes i love iwrestledabearonce, but I also LOVEEEEE Lady Gaga. I'm a complete girly girl but I go crazy when it comes to hockey(Go Red Wings!). But I guess if you never got to know me, and judged me on the way I dressed, I'd be one of those artsy hipster types, or an indie kid, and for lack of a better word, scene. I wear skinny jeans everyday, i've got blunt bangs, i listen to metal and indie music, I sing French songs in the shower, I drink 3 cups of coffee everyday, I eat sushi, I'm well read and am a nominee for most likely to succeed. I live in South Texas and I fit the profile of an NYC native. I think it has to do with the fact I'm originally from Seattle. But my point is why does someone the exact opposite of me, like me?
Over the years that I've lived in Texas, I noticed that most of the white, redneck boys who drive mud covered trucks, and wear cowboy boots everyday like me! And i want to know why. What about me makes me so appealing to country boys? I wear cowboys boots as a fashion statement, I hate country music (with a few exceptions), I think beer is the most vile of all alcoholic drinks, I'm a grammar freak, and the only horses I've ever ridden have been in Washington State. Typical Texas boys should be running from me! I'm the opposite of the kind of girl they would take home to their families. Their families are expecting them to bring home a white, blonde, girl that wears cowboy boots and rhinestone belt buckles who's life goals are to start a family and live in our little town of **** forever. Not the dark haired hispanic, who wears clothes from Urban Outfitters and giant pink bows in her hair and dreams of living in the city and never getting married.
But since they never want to date me, I know they have no intentions of bringing me to dinner to meet their parents. They just want a good time. The other day I got felt up in art class by this guy that has the worst southern accent I've ever heard. Ew! I had to lie and say I had a boyfriend in a metal band just so he'd leave me alone(because hitting him had no effect). And they all belong to the same clique. They all go to each other's houses and date the same type of girls and they all want me. I went to a party last night with some friends and they wouldn't leave me alone! One kept trying be next to me while we were watching GI Joe. Even as I was leaving, another one grabbed me by the leg on the way out.
I wouldn't mind it so much if they were nice and clever but they're not. These boys are crude, insolent and sexist. If i want a butthead boyfriend, he better have long hair, tattoos and wear really nice clothes.
Why can't I attract boys that look like this?

And I know there arent any at my school that look like this, and the few that are close are my best guy friends that are dating MY best friends. But you'd think I'd attract some at the shows I go to.
So do opposites attract? I know I'm not gonna get married but I at least want my boyfriend to have the same interests as me, yet be opposite enough to compliment me. I talk a alot, he needs to be a listener. I can't cook, he needs to be a chef. I love fries. He better order a number 5 and let me eat the fries because he hates them.
Have you ever had a situation where opposites attract?
