Red Hot Chili Peppers

Basically, the Red Hot Chili Peppers started as throwback funk/punk band that was actually unknown commercially. Nevertheless after releasing their eponymous album in 1984, trashing the guitarist and drummer from the aforementioned album the Chili Peppers begun to find their groove and kick in. Freaky Styley was their first successful album but Hillel Slovak died in 1988 because of heroin overdose which prompted Jack Irons to leave because he didnt want to be in a band with people dying in it. John Frusciante came in and so was drummer Chad Smith. The band didnt experience heavy commercial success until 1991's Blood Sugar Sex Magik. Blood sugar encapsulates the funk that was developed mainly around Flea's ridiculous bass abilities, Smith's simple but clean addictive beats that seems to follow Flea's bass, Kiedis' fast spoken rhymes vocals and Frusciante's guitar that puts everything in a harmonious groove. As the bands music evolved and lost Frusciante for some time because of drug addiction, the Chili Peppers experimented on other guitarists such as Dave Navarro. But the band didnt get the groove that they use to have with the members they had in Blood Sugar. Frusciante returned after extensive surgery and rehabilitation and emotional confrontation with his good friend Kiedis. They went on to begun reunite and record Californication in 1999, a much more textured melody driven album which brought them to the widest audience they ever had. By The Way was released in 2002 and Stadium Arcadium in 2006. At press time(haha) there are no news of an upcoming album as the members are exploring music on their own.

What made RHCP great is the distinctive funk/rythm/bet that their music contains, their lyrics that are absurd but meaningful and the influence they had to other bands and their fans. They wrote songs about getting your shit straight, political issues, drug addiction, Magic Johnson and California. Listening to them and watching them progress is plainly amazing.

I bought me a new (old) RHCP album

The Uplift Mofo Party Plan

Hey folks, I bought me a new pepper album for my collection!
Well, it is one of the old ones with Hillale Slovak and Jack Irons. Month ago I gave my self the promise to buy only very seldomly a RHCP album, because as the hiatus lasts soooooooooooooo long i have to "ration" their music for me. Otherwise I could never survive the waiting.
Originaly I wanted to buy the "Live in Hyde Park" album as a kind of gratification for my passed theoretical drivingtest. But there was no way to get it!!! Not at amazon, not at ebay, not in music stores!!! I planned to buy it  month ago!!! It was so frustrating! Then after X-mas I visited again a music store and looked more because of routine than of hope in the rhcp corner and there it was!! "The Uplift Mofo Party Plan", in all it´s beauty!! =) And it was a special offer (10€)!!Of cause I bought it immeadiately! And it was the last one!hihihihi
To be honest I didn´t expect it to be good. Because it is one of the very early albums and the music of the eighties isn´t really mine.
But of cause they suprised me. I liked the album from the beginning!!! It is great!!! It makes me partiing and jumping through the flat, hehe. Like they promised. XD
Of cause it isn´t as good as the later ones and the lyrics of a few songs are a bit...well they were young. Hahah!

 But I simply like it!!

Bye, (a very happy ) chillimell

New authorised book of the RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS!!!!!!

It`s a coffee-table book!!!!!!!!!!!!!! By the photographer Tony Woolliscroft who accompanied the peppers for 20 Years!!!!!
ohhhhhh i can´t wait to hold it in my hands!!!!
it comes just in the right time after the news of their 2 year hiatus *shriiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiek* (i still can´t believe it!!!!!!! my world broke into pieces!!!!) oh i waited for so long to get something new of the peppers!!!!
I CAN´T CAN´T CAN´T WAIT TO GET IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here you can read chad´s foreword:

On my first tour of Europe in the cold ass winter of 1990, we headed off to England. I was so excited to be in a country that spawned so many of my musical idols: Sabbath, Zeppelin, The Who, Deep Purple, Queen, etc. This is the music I grew up on and I couldn’t believe I was over here in their backyards. Needless to say I was a little green and, being the ‘new guy’, I was on my own a lot. I remember meeting Tony, this big cuddly bear, and he came up to me at his first photo shoot with us for Kerrang, I think, and asked me where the “loo” was and I couldn’t understand a fucking word he said, except for maybe that one. And I didn’t know anybody named Lou. Mind you I hadn’t been in England too long and his accent, being a northern one, was as thick as a brick. “Funniest guy yet,” I thought. Anyway, from that day forward, he has shot us on every one of our tours all over the world. Every one. All of them... Jesus, stay home once in a while!

Most photographers are only allowed to shoot the first three songs of a show. We love Tony and his work so much that he is the only guy we give complete access to for an entire show. That’s how much we trust him.

But you’ll be able to see that trust going through this book. His images make you feel like you’re there. Like any true artist, and much like our band, he keeps searching and trying to learn more about his craft. He has grown with us. I think you will see that growth here as well. He has captured the essence of our band on film.

I am back!

Hey folks!!

I am back here at foe.
I hope you do not hate me now, because I did not say a word for suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuch a long time. I am sorry!!!!!!
But there were a lot changes in my life (end of school and stuff like that).
And as you maybe remember I am still a huge Red-Hot-Maniac! But in the last time I got more and more depressed because there were no new releases of my beloved band. But that was not good; I should be happy because of the RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS and not sad. So in the end I decided to TRY to get a bit away from all this.
But I must confess that it was not the right way either. I love the band, I love foe and I love you foe-guys!!!! I am back and will try to enjoy my friends and my band (even if there is no new stuff and the waiting for the new album is hard).

I hope you will still write with me  =)
