Hey You..... Just Get the FOOD here...........

I love these Blue Jay's they are right here as soon as I walk out the door in the morning. I hear them calling out to their buddies letting them know I'm up and ready to feed them, it's weird but some birds do this they will have one bird as a scout or a lookout. Crows and Seagulls do this also. Blue Jays come from the same family as crows the family called Corvidae better known as Corvid's. Crows,Ravens,Jays and Magpies make up this family and only the the jays and magpies are colorful. The sexes are either alike or very similar ~

I used to consider Blue Jay's annoying, they would steal all the peanuts from the squirrels. But a couple of summers ago I had to rescue a Blue Jay that had gotten his leg wedged into my stockade fence. I saw him hanging and struggling to get loose. I tried to get him calm by wrapping a small towel around his body and at the same time trying to push his leg back up from between the pickets. His leg was in there so tight and I was alone doing this and he was so calm the whole time and just looking at me. His leg was badly damaged [they have no feeling in their legs] but I wasn't able to hang on to him once he was loose. He hung out for a couple of days in my yard eating and only with one leg, but I suspect he died from infection but at least he was freed from that situation. So now I love those Birds ~

There's an old saying around these parts when someone is talking out their ass.
He's full of more shit than a blue jay.

Excellent capture. I have seen a few around my house but I don't have a good enough lens to get a decent close-up. I've heard that Blue Jays feed on eggs from other bird nests. Is this true?

It was sad but I have no idea where he went I didn't find him dead...They can live with only one leg but sometimes infection gets in the wound and that can kill them.......But at least I did get him out of the fence and I still have no idea how he got that far down between the slats. He was a t least 1ft down......i wish you could see them close up they are gorgeous.....OH this is something interesting I forgot to put up top they can actually learn to mimic sounds we had one who would meow like a cat LOL
