Hey There Delilah

Life update:

I am trying to teach myself to play guitar.
It's failing thus far.
Back story to me trying to play guitar.
My mom was given an acoustic guitar in 1990 by my great grandmother.
She loaned it to a friend and hasn't seen it since pretty much.
That friend still had the guitar, all pieces, never used it.
I came home from a boring, bland day at school and this guitar was waiting for me.
I am currently looking at tabs and chords.
My brain is on overload.
My first two assignments for myself are Nobody Puts Baby In A Corner and Hey There Delilah.
:)
If I learn good enough I will record and post.
In my negative amount of free time that is.
I hope everyone's weeks are going well.
Thanks for waiting for my updates on the fan fics.
The creative juices have been dorment for a while.
I'll be back up to par soon, I promise.

That new Plain White T's song.

I'm listening to it right now.

Has anyone seen the video by any chance?

It made me cry the first time I saw it.

What other videos have made you cry?

Like music videos, not movies :)

Blind Test #1

Sooooo..... i had this idea for a few days.... as you may have noticed, i try playing guitar, so what about i try playing a little bit of a song, and you try to guess the name of the song and the band....?

I don't know how many crazy fellows will follow me, but even if there's just one person, i don't mind, but i can't play alone! =O

So let's try with this:

01.wav

If you don't recognize.... well, it's my fault!

Halloween//Panic at the disco show

here's my past week in pics
my halloween was a good time... we went to a few different parties and i got to know some friends a little better? haha was that lame?
anyways i of course didn't have a costume so me and meghan ran to rite aid at like 5 o clock on Halloween and bought fake blood, red nailpolish, pale concealer, and fake eyelashes... i went out with Mike, Sam, Gail, and Gail's roommates haha it was hilarious STOP picture time ;)

haha yeah my costume was pathetic

aww sam is the love of my life

lame-o's

I'm sure the people in these pictures would totally approve of this

HOW DARE YOUU

haha oh michael

haha they were the scooby squad and I was supposed to be Daphne oops

then onto the panic show which i got to go to for free because i wont the rock band live contest that i didn't even remember signing up for! and also was hilarious because it reminded me soo much of concerts i went to when i was younger with my friends... it was a good time... here's some things i wrote down... saw mitchell at skatepark (the love of my life he is GORGEOUS in a womanly way)...get on subway, we're probably late at this point since we had to be at will call by 4:30, get to will call and guy working at desk is very intrigued and confused by my tickets and passes, get in meet n greet (yes that's what it was called), line and we're first behind a hardcore rock band live lovin family (pretty certain the only reason they came was because of the game), meet bands:
The Cab- they were in awe of our age, me and meg were the oldest gals in line forsure haha... we should've flirted with them oh well
Plain White T's- Greek was mentioned (they do the theme song for that show) and arguments were had, Tom Higgenson made fun of both of us for not watching Greek
Panic at the disco- haha they were so tiny and skinny. they were also dressed very nicely.. but i literally couldn't speak around them which is lame to say because I'm not usually nervous around famous people but the whole meet and greet thing intimidated me. so I complimented Ryan Ross on his coat and failed miserably at eye fucking brenden urie. mission accomplished
Dashboard wasn't there for the meet and greet and meg was pissed <3after that we left the stadium and headed to cosi for dinner and shopping at lush.. i got the tandoori chicken sandwhich and it was BANGIN and meg got a salad (BORINGGG :) then we walked around a bit and headed back and entered in the wrong door and sat in the wrong seats.. then 2 hours later we found our correct seats and of course missed the cab.. our boyzz, my seat was next to some middle aged woman with her young son (who i'm convinced is a twimom) and there were these girls going fucking CRAZY for the cab screaming and crying my lord it was awful.RIDIKULUSS (the mc type dude who's name was literally ridiculous, yeah seriously) narrated our adventure...plain white t's surprised me a lot by putting on a great and entertaining show, it actually sounded like a recorded cd, my favorite song was 1234 it was disgustingly adorable, although the singer is somewhat heinous ANYWHO...ridikuluss then introduced us to some rock-band-live players which was extremely entertaining.. i loved thatthen he brought us to BOCA FLORIDA and Chris was brought onstagehomeboy had a 102 fever but he was AMAZING.. it figuratively (i love grammar) blew me away, he was awesome, his voice is so strong and when he played screaming infedelities i almost cried because I'm lame. He told us if we could figure out the card trick in his "liars and thieves" vid he would hold our hand and take us to see coldplay like boyfriend and girlfriend, and if we lost he sit on our lap during panicso after i cried on the inside from chris carrabba's beautiful falsetto ridik brought out another rock band live set and more fun sing-a-longs were hadNext stop: SIN CITYYPanic at the Disco was next and I hadn't seen them since they opened up for Fall Out Boy in like 06 or so, and honestly they were god-awful back then and they probably know that. They were also completely mind blowing. Brenden's voice has gotten a thousand times stroner and they seem way more comfortable as a band now, it was awesome to witness. Even their old songs were redone to fit their new "re-invent" style. I was very impressed. I danced along and good times were had, they ALMOST convinced me to buy a t-shirt... haha yeah almost.then on the way back we witnessed a strange love triangle on the subway and were convinced there was a loveless marriage involved... YAY now onto pics... Image and video hosting by TinyPic haha aw meg look's so good in this pic, i should probably tell her.
oh and warning i didn't get any meet n greet pics..
oh my pictures also suck because i was in a seat, but i loved sitting it was nice (thanks buzznet)

October 31, 2008

The ringing of silence is deafening.

So I went to the Rock Band live tour today. On Halloween night. I know this is actually being posted after halloween, but bear with me here.
I have to admit it was definitely one of the best things of my life. No Contest!
So my friends and I arrived at the Patriot center around 4:30 and waited until 6 for the doors to open, before we were allowed in though, a man walked out and handed everyone in line a CD made by Panic at the Disco of "It's almost Halloween" We got in and bought shirts and blah blah, blah nobody actually cares.
So the Cab came on. Their guitarist was dressed up in crab costume and their drummer was dressed as a Banana. I have to admit I don't know that much about the Cab. I've heard of them and the music I've heard I've absolutely loved. Seeing them live was amazing. They are really good at getting the audience interested. Their lead singer was all over the stage, even going up to the rail at one point (I almost touched him I was so close) And their bassist loved attention, he was kind of adorable. So amazing overall
Plain White T's came out next. They were all wearing costumes, so exciting. Drummer = Rabbi, Singer=grim reaper, lead guitarist=tickle me elmo, rhythm guitarist=vampire and bassist=strongman (it was apparently just his pajama's cause he didn't know they were going to dress up). They didn't have the same atmosphere but were still great. Played well and got the audience interested without as much movement. All in all fun, their 'tickle me elmo' at the end of the set threw the costume into the crowd.
Dashboard Confessional; there's a lot to be said there. They're fantastic performers I have to admit that I am a fan of the drummer singing backup because it seems like the drummers are always in the background, overlooked really. They're played really well, and their in-between song banter was pretty funny, though not always appropriate. The one major thing I feel I must say about Dashboard Confessional is that the music they played didn't seem to fit the concert. The other bands are high energy and the music Dashboard played just seemed too low key. But they played a cover of Pinks song "So What" with a couple members of the Cab and it was just amazing. I was jumping up an down and getting a lot of strange looks but it was so worth it because the cover was just... Wow!
Before I finally talk about Panic at the Disco I want to talk about the actual Rock Band portion. I was honestly a little bit disappointed. The way to get up onstage was to play a couple of rounds on Rock Band setups in the lobby. You have to miss parts of the concert to do it through. Because of it through, at least two of the fours bands that played didn't play well. ONly one band played on expert and the fact that the people could pretty much fail (they took off the fail option) on the level hard was just sad. I guess I was just hoping for some really good people to go up, it just didn't happen.
So Panic at the Disco. AMAZING! I might just be biased but I love their live show. They're so funny and talented and just downright cool. They came out in the Halloween Costumes from their music video (the one they put out the other day, it's floating around buzznet, just look for it) and they played that song. Just wonderful. I'm not good with set-lists, which is why there hasn't been one this entire journal, but they played their popular songs; Nine in the Afternoon, Northern Downpour, Mad as Rabbits, Lying is the most fun a girl can have without taking her clothes off, I write sins not tragedies, etc, etc. Keep in mind that isn't in any definite order. I also didn't list all of the songs because my memory is crap. Also I learned something new. Some of you probably already knew this, but Brendon Urie can play the drums, and not just play, but seriously rock out on the drums. I was shocked, I had heard some basics about his instrumental genius, but I didn't know how well he could play the drums at least, it was just... I'm running out of adjectives.
Still they did their cover, which was still amazing. Brendon decided that he was going to teach the audience and did a very good job. Jon talked a lot, as did Ryan and Brendon, I'm not sure if Spencer even had a microphone, which is sad. But seriously the talking and back and forth joking was just amazing. I love them. Still there were various costume changes for everyone but Ryan. Spencer lost the wolf mask, Jon got rid of the Frankenstein mask and work a sombrero, and then lost that. Brendon took off his cape rolled up his sleeves and wore his big sunglasses. Also Zack was all over. He threw candy out to the audience, as well as a lot of the Halloween decorations and helped a lot setting up. Pretty cool, Yeah if I didn't mention it before there was a lot of candy being thrown to the floor (general admission people).
I missed everything that they threw into the audience. there was a lot of candy, and some picks, and lots of drumsticks and a couple of shirts. It was pretty infuriating and I didn't manage to get a gravestone either. But still it was great. I couldn't imagine a better thing to do on Halloween.
By the way I took a bunch of crappy quality pictures on my phone, and if I figure out how to work it I'll put those up, and if not I'll talk to my friend who took real pictures and try to get some of those up.
So that was pretty much my experience with the Rock Band Live tour on Halloween. I loved it and if you read through this entire thing I hope you enjoyed my happy little rant and while I'm at it HAPPY BIRTHDAY FRANK IERO!

panic at the disco:) rock band live seattle.

wow was this concert great. headed out to everett, just a little north of seattle:) i love the seattle area - it's one of my favorite places and it makes me proud to be from here:) the cab opened up, and they were great just like i would expect.. ian, the band's guitarist, is from my hometown and still my current home.. he graduated from the high school that im currently attending and it surprised me to find out he was neighbor before the cab even existed. who knew? then came the plain white ts, and they were SO GOOD:) i literally did a little happy dance in my seat because they sound EXACTLY like they do on record:) if you ever have the opportunity to see the plain white ts in concert, don't even think about it, BUY THE TICKETS, do it now! you won't be disappointed:) the songs from their new album, big bad world, are really great, and they performed a few of those. and of course, they couldn't leave the stage without performing hey there delilah. it was great:) and when the part came up in the song, "hey there delilah, here's to you, this one's for you," they subbed the lyrics, "hey there seattle, here's to you, this one's for you," :):):) it was a great end to their performance:) then came dashboard confessional.. im not a fan of theirs so i just kinda sat there. their performance was all right, but they ended it with a cover of p!nks so what. they did really well at that one, i'll admit, and it was a nice closure. AND THEN, drum roll please! (bumbumbumbumbumbumbum..) panic at the disco! aka the only reason i went to that concert haha:) they started out with we're so starving, which was good. damn, the whole show was good! DAMN GOOD. all the guys looked really great. except for personally i think spencer didn't get enough exposure that he deserved:(. he was just kinda chillin in the back the whole time, not like he could help it, though. i was sitting in the actual seated section of the arena. little did i know it would be a GREAT place to sit:):) they placed a piano on the diagonal edge of the stage, which was directly facing me. every so often, whenever a song called for it, brendon (lead singer, gorgeous as ever in person) would sit right down at that piano, (which was facing me straight on (!)) and play it. and every so often, brendon would glance up, right at me (!!), see me singing every lyric, smiling, dancing, having the time of my life, and give me a big, goofy, adorable grin:) now trust me on this one, I'VE GOT WITNESSES ! i even looked up into the big screen magnifying his face, just to make sure he was smiling at RIGHT at ME (making sure i wasn't just dreaming, hallucinating, or just looking in my general direction) and saw that cute smile, just magnified about 50 times and on a projector screen on either side of the arena:) LOOKING and SMILING, right at ME. if people could melt into puddles, i would have right there:) and he did that a couple of times, too! but, i didn't scream and freak out, like the fan girl inside me would have, i kept a cool composure on the outside and just laughed and smiled back at him, because im pretty sure brendon gets too much of that whole screaming-freaking out fan girl thing, and that he probably grows tired of that. okay, now that im done downloading all that to you random stranger, ill tell you about the rest. they performed all the greats, like nine in the afternoon, the green gentleman, lying is the most fun, northern downpour, but it's better if you do, i write sins not tragedies, it's time to dance, and a few more:) it was a GREAT show! i was dancing and singing along:) they were great live, with so much excitement and passion!! i just wanted to jump on stage with them if it wasn't for zack sitting there standing watch..... at the very end of panic's performance, they did a cover of SHOUT! ha it was SO GREAT. how many times have i said that? somebody count for me. everybody was bouncing and dancing and singing along. panic was DEFINITELY the highlight of the night:) well i had another fan girl/brendon moment, ladies and gentlemen. there's a line in that song that goes, "you girls you make me wanna, SHOUT!" and then the crazy chorus starts:) when brendon says, "you girls you make me wanna.." he points at ME. (!) ME! "you girls (points at me!) you make me wanna SHOUT!" and at this point, i just about died inside:) i had so much self-control not to scream and do the fan girl thing. but i just laughed, and yelled some more. at this point, brendon was farthest from me on the stage, but he must have remembered where i was, as he points at me:) when he says "you girls.." ah- i was on cloud nine for the rest of the week, trust me kids:) it was a great concert, and i couldn't leave without a rock band shirt. the perfect end to the perfect night:) if you are going to attend a rock band live concert in the near future, ill tell you, you're in for one hell of a show;)

The Cab / PWT's / Dashboard

The Cab. They were absolutely amazing live :D

Plain White T's. Some people were pissed off because they were kind of rude and sarcastic (in a mean way) on stage. It's kind of a long story. They were really nice though when I met them (read about it here). And they were great live, also.

Dashboard Confessional. I didn't really listen to them much before that night. They were really great though and Chris is really funny. :D I listen to them a lot now.

I'll be putting up another journal with a bunch of Panic pictures. I'm just going to try and crop some of them.

xox Katie
