Deux petits cochons

Deux petits cochons

I think this may be the only photo we have of them, anywhere. But it's appropriate because they had such a trés bien time that they decided to become French nationals, escaping together while we were in the Louvre the next day (our last day in Paris).

When my parents were there this spring, they (inadvertently) left them some spending money in the form of a film canister filled with Euro coins (for the Metro). I imagine les deux petits cochons in tiny berets, hanging out in after hours jazz clubs and squandering all their money on Gitanes.

We miss their antics, hiding (sometimes for days) in bookshelves and under the bed on rainy afternoons and leaving scrawled notes to tease us, "Where in the world are small pig and most tiniest pig?"

We always found them eventually. Now they're lost forever, but we know exactly where they are, charming the girls and tricking the boys out of Metro fare . . .

I've had the metro fare tricked out of me a few more times than I'd care to admit.

I think only tourists and pickpockets go to the Louvre.

I can't blame them for wanting to stay in Paris, but maybe one day you will hear a tiny knock on the door. You will open it and be overwhelmed with joy to finally see your pigs again. (:
