Pete And Ashlee Appear in Anti-Prop 8 Campaign

Last year, Pete Wentz and Ashlee Simpson-Wentz pledged their marriage vows to one another.

And now, they’re fighting for the right of all people to take those same vows.

Pete and Ashlee have contributed to the NoH8 photo campaign. Started by celebrity photographer Adam Bouska and his partner Jeff Parashley, the idea is a silent photographic protest of Proposition 8, which passed last November and amended the California State Constitution to define marriage as between one man and one woman. Participants are photographed against a white background with duct tape over their mouths and with the words “NOH8” painted on their cheek.

While the original subjects in the photos were “everyday Californians” the cause has gained more and more attention and has seen participation from media figures such as Lukas Rossi, Tila Tequila and Mark Hoppus. Also, in the wake of the Carrie Prejean situation at the Miss USA pageant, several former Miss USA contestants including two winners (one who went on to be named Miss Universe!) participated, adorned in pageant crowns and standing in front of an American flag.

Ashlee and Pete each appear in a solo shot as well as a couple’s shot, with arms wrapped around each other and posing with a top hat and a bridal veil. Their photos join the 633 others featured on the official NOH8 website.
