With 3 Simultaneous Projects, Will Pete Doherty Still Have Time to Smoke Crack?

Busy boy Pete Doherty thinks he can manage his solo project, Babyshambles, and the Libertines all at once.  Now excuse me if I'm wrong, but the last thing I saw him in the news for is getting busted for heroine while on an airplane and the last video he put out was the cracked out one with Amy Winehouse.  Can he even manage one project?

Lou's top 8 (cause I'm awkward) musicial moments of 07

LOUFROMTHEBLOC'S TOP 8 MUSIC MOMENTS OF 2007

8. After much worry of his collasped lung on the Panic! At The Disco tour, fans of Bloc Party were worried that drummer Matt Tong wasn't gonna drum like he used to, lucky for us. It got as funky as ever and Bloc Party take on a dance edge with anthems like The Prayer and Flux.

7. The UMBRELLA craze. With such simple lyrics (When the sunshines we'll shine together/told you I'll be here forever) the track from the self-proclaimed "good girl gone bad" Rihanna caused such a stir with her song that nearly 30 bands covered it (everyone ranging from McFly to My Chemical romance) and with her 10 week stint on the british chart, it rained nearly every single day, cause floods all through-out the UK. We all knew this was down to global warming, but it's always nice to blame a popstar isn't it!

6. The return of Robyn! Remember 1997? Thats when we first saw Robyn with her cheesy pop classic "Show Me Love" 10 years later, she's back with fierce style and much better music! Her hit "With every heartbeat" was a massive summer anthem, and her self titled album has brought her many success. 2008 looks even more promising!

5. Labels going to a whole new level. Last year emo was everyone's favourite enemy (and quite franky, still is) now we have more! Scene queens/kings, Nu ravers, scenesters, HXC, moshers etc etc etc, just spoilt for choice!

4. The savior of celebrities, and musicians, STARBUCKS! Tom Fletcher from McFly actually thanked starbucks instead of his fans in the band's new greatest hits CD. It's probably the only thing Britney is seen drinking these days. Starbucks even have their own record label for goodness sake!

3. The year of the comebacks, All Saints had a lovely run of 6 months before they stopped again. Legendary Led Zepplin are doing a few shows, The Sex Pistols, Britney, The Spice Girls! Next year looks even more promising, Steps anyone? :'D

2. Drug addictions causing singers and bands to go better. Not that I condone drug taking, no way. But did any of you hear of Amy Winehouse when she released a song called "fuck me pumps"? But I'm guessing most of you know about her now. The same with Pete Doherty, but I guess he was better when he was in The Libertines!

1. Klaxons winning the mercury music prize! This was also awesome because I made a bet on it and I won, hahaha.

Aversion's Top 10 News Stories of 2007

2007 - The Year in NewsWhat's the biggest news story of 2007? The investigation that revealed the White House was directly responsible for leaking Valerie Plame's name as a CIA operative? The Mitchell Report that shined light on Major League Baseball's culture of steroid use? North Korea and Iran's quest for nukes? Britney Spears' idiotic life choices?

What do you think this is, Newsweek?. We're nowhere near qualified to make those sort of distinctions. We do know a thing or two about the rock and roll, though. So, here's a statistical look back on 2007's news stories, with a look at the most popular stories of the year and the dead horses we tended to flog most often in our headlines.

What You Liked (or at least clicked on a lot)

10 . New Smashing Pumpkins Members Rumored -- Finally putting to rest the speculation of a Pumpkins reunion, fans were simultaneously crushed by the news that D'Arcy and James weren't involved and elated by the fact that the Pumpkins were back. Then Zeitgeist came out and pretty much rained on whatever elation we had in us.

9. Pete Doherty Gets Penguin Stoned -- Our personal favorite news item of 2007. With the exception of that "Dewey Defeats Truman" one, it's possibly the best headline in the course of human history.

8. White Stripes Cancel All 2007 Tour Dates -- In retrospect, it's probably unlikely anyone would thing Meg White took it doggy-style in front of a camera (see below). After all, she couldn't even pull it together to play drums on stage. With her clothes on, no less.

7. Jimmy Eat World Finally Finishes Album -- Hey, when you spend more than a year holed up in your own studio, it's news when you finally put that album to bed.

6. Q&A - Armor for Sleep -- With New Jersey's finest pop-punk act in the studio working on the follow-up to 2004's What to Do When You Are Dead, everyone wanted to know how things were shaping up. Front man Ben Jourgensen filled us in with a studio update.

5. Hawthorne Heights Guitarist Dies -- A lot of people died in 2007 (like the dude who invented Gatorade and the guy who first dew Scooby Doo), but Casey Calvin's sudden passing caught the mall-punk world unawares. So how short are the odds for Victory Records to issue a three-disc, limited-edition boxed set to commemorate-exploit Calvin's death in 2008?

4. Rage Against the Machine Reunites -- After seven years on ice, Rage Against the Machine returned for a small number of shows starting with an appearance at Coachella. It was great news to all kinds of people -- fans of the band's innovative music, ones who connect with the leftist ideals for which the band always stood and millions upon millions of frat boys and jocks impressed by loud guitars and singer Zach De La Rocha's propensity for f-bombs.

3. Pete Doherty's Rehab Situation Cleared Up -- Admittedly, that headline's a little misleading: You could probably write a doctoral thesis on the Babyshambles front man's ability to flaunt drug laws and emerge with little more than a slap on the wrist and still not get to the bottom of the issue. Clarity about his latest sentencing, though? Everyone wants to know.

2. Bright Eyes Set for Spring Tour -- Conor Oberst is more than an indie-rock sensation. He's a phenomenon, apparently, as news of an eight-date tour became big-time news.

1. Meg White Sex Video is a Hoax -- We're pretty sure the enormous popularity of this news item had less to do with straightening out the misconception that the White Stripes drummer filmed a low-budget porno in what appears to be a dorm room as it was a horny search for said video, but, hey. Whatever floats your boat folks.

Kanye West and Pete Doherty

So as y'all might have heard already from Breesay's blog, Kanye West's mother, Dr Donda West, passed away...allegedly from complications from the surgery she'd had the day before.

Now, the surgeon was a certain Jan Adams...and he seems to be quite the pr*ck. Allow me to explain: He is in trouble with the Medical Board of California over several DUI cases AND has had judgments against him in at least two malpractice cases.
ALSO
  •  multiple convictions for alcohol-related offenses
  • charges of unprofessional conduct and abuse of alcohol
  • Adams has settled at least two malpractice suits, one for $250,000 and another for $217,000!!
source

seriously...would you trust a guy that looks like this?

OKAY! Onto Pete Doherty, our favourite junkie!
So at the time of the MTV European Music Awards, ol' Petey-boy was supposed to be squeaky clean and sober.

Yeah right.

A video sprung up of, allegedly,  Pete shooting up heroin backstage. C'mon...did you really think he'd get clean this easily?? source
But I was listening to Radio 1 this morning - Chris Moyles show with Russell Brand as a guest - and they seemed to make a point. "If Pete and Donny [Tourette] were hanging off a ledge, and I could only save one-" "-well, Pete of course-" "-Exactly"

They also called Pete a "bright and talented young man". And to be honest, I have to a agree. He's the world's favourite car-crash. He might not have the best voice in the world, but he's acheived fame and cult and star status. His music is brilliant. And his performances sure-as-hell are charged! Just don't ask with what! And I'm not trying to blaspheme here, but perhaps he is rather like the modern day Kurt Cobain.
HALT
This is where all you kids start going "OMG how DARE she compare Pete to our beloved Kurt???". Puh-lease. I'm a huge Kurt and Nirvana fan. Have been for years. But I'm just making an observation. I don't mean it to the fullest extent, but you must admit...there are similarities!!

anyway, that's all for now! Keep on truckin' folks!

Kate Moss before and after Courtney Love

Despite having carried the burden of a junkie boyfriend for the past few years, waif model Kate Moss continues to embody elegance, style and glamour.  Unless serial stumbler Courtney Love is in the neighborhood.

Looking radiant, Kate arrived at London's Victoria and Albert Museum Wednesday evening to celebrate the Golden Age of Couture.  Moss moved like a vision in her vintage gown.  A two-foot train of satin trailing behind, as though Kate were walking on a golden cloud.

Until Courtney, fresh from a rehab visit with Kate's ex, Pete Doherty, clomped on the hem of Moss's irreplacable dress, ripping a hole in the delicate garment, ruining it forever.

Courtney Love: from trainwreck to train wrecker.

Pete Doherty: Even his cat is on coke

Plenty of mud has been slung at drug addled English pop scum Pete Doherty, but at least he cannot be accused of being stingy with his dope.  The convicted lowlife has apparently been sharing crack with his pet cat, named "Dinger," which is said to be a slang term for syringe.

Vets in London detected the presence of cocaine in the animal's blood while saving its life.  In related news, Doherty has become such a mess that his on and off girlfriend, twig-like supermodel Kate Moss, has apparently picked him up again.

News observers with short term memory superior to Doherty's will recall that Pete was caught in the act of trying to give cancer-causing cigarettes, or weed, to an innocent group of penguins back in March.

Pete Doherty's Mom Doubts His Drug Free Life

Pete Doherty has been in and out of the news the past year for his drug addiction and stints in rehab.

Although some might be hopeful that Doherty's addiction is gone forever, his mom believes it isn't.

NME has mother Jacqueline Doherty as saying, "Pete's not ready to give up yet. He will have to hit rock bottom before he can rise up again."

If that isn't upsetting enough, a recent survey crowned Doherty the "celebrity flatmate from hell" when people were asked which famous people they would not want to share the Big Brother house with.

Don't worry Pete.  I believe in you.

Pete Doherty Chooses Love Over Drugs

It's a tough story to believe as every recent photo shows Pete Doherty looking wrecked, but Star Pulse reports that Doherty has begun to change his way.

Apparently, Doherty and his family had an intervention in which he was told to either quit using drugs or lose his relationship with his family.

The intervention seemed to have a major affect on him as he told the court at a recent appearance, "The people I'm closest to have had enough. They've said it's drugs or them. A lot has changed in the past week."

Doherty has been undergoing drug treatment prior to an April 2006 arrest.

I'm happy that his loved ones stepped in and showed how much they care.  Some families unfortunately wouldn't do that.

Kate Moss: Before and After Doherty

Killjoy party-poopers among the friends and family of English model Kate Moss might be called spoilsports for objecting to her romance with needle-fiend Pete Doherty.  Who do the haters think they are, calling Pete a bad influence?  Don't they understand that true love is a beautiful thing?

Well, my dear romantics, pictures don't lie.  London's Daily Mail has published a group of pictures that show Kate Moss pre-Pete and in her current state of Doherty decay.
