Ozzy Osbourne

Pitched screamer Ozzy Osbourne initially invaded America in the early 1970s as the lead singer for heavy metal pioneers Black Sabbath. With their dark imagery and slogging wall of noise, Sabbath and Ozzy were immediate lightening rods for controversy. Conservative watchdogs feared the band's satanic influence. Rock's "taste makers" wilted under the sonic onslaught and Ozzy's wild man antics. Ozzy labored in relative obscurity, most widely known for biting the heads off bats and birds, until MTV put him on air with his wife and kids in 2002 and made The Osbournes a household name.
