Middle of the desert you can see a whole lot of stars but they wont come out on pictures all that good , so after messing around with the settings i ended up using the Bulb function on my camera leaving it open for 3 minutes to get as much light without getting motion blur

Great tip!! At least for those with cameras offering such options. The rest of us will have to just memorize those magical starry desert night views.

I want to do this, but unfortunately I am never that far out of the city late at night. We do have an observatory about an hour away that i need to check out though! Great pic!
