ScarletMadeline's Makeup Mastermind Looks At Hippy Chic: Leighton Meester and Nicole Richie

We judge people on the arrangements of their features and their style. Care to tell me that you don't? Well, I would say that you might not judge your friends on their beauty, but you certainly pick up a magazine cover or check out a musician on stage and say "damn that girl looks awful in that outfit" or "wow what was she thinking wearing that much eyeshadow". This round of ScarletMadeline's Makeup Mastermind I wanted to look at hippie chic, Nicole Richie and Leighton Mester.

Nicole Richie:


Nicole was the celebrity to bring back this new wave of hippie chic to the main stream. She pulls of the o-natural look
very well but in this day and age "natural" does not mean without makeup. Nicole has her share of cosmetics on and
this is how you can get her look:
-First take care of those brows, pluck them and fill em in!
-Next get the following colored eyeshadow in Matte
*Taupe
*Light gray
*Dark Gray
-To start the eye makeup apply your matte taupe eyeshadow all over your eye up to the brow
-Next take the light gray and shadow a small amount of it under your eye (as a liner) and on your eyelid. Blend it with
the taupe from right above your eyelid crease down to your lash line.
-Apply your dark gray shadow from your lash line up to the crease and blend in with the light gray shadow.
-Take that same dark gray shadow and apply a very thin line of it under your eye to finish off your natural liner look.
-To give your eyes depth (like Nicoles) I would apply a black eyeliner on your top inner eyelid. You can also apply a
thin line of liquid liner to your lash line, this will make your eyes pop a bit more.
-Finish off your eye with mascara on top and bottom.
-Nude lipstick is very in this season and helps make Nicole's eyes pope, so make sure to invest in some fabulous nude
lipstick. This is great for back to school too
-Finish off with a very light pink blush and apply it to the apple of your cheeks. FABULOUS

Leighton Meester:


Nicole pulled off the matte version of the subtle look, but Leighton definitely pulls off the shimmery version.
Bronze/Gold shadows are VERY in for summer and fall so if you want to look as hot as Leighton this is what you need
to do:
-Once again FILL IN THOSE EYEBROWS. No matter how "natural" you want to look, you will never look fabulous
without taming those brows!
-Get the following eyeshadows out:
-Shimmery white pigment
-Shimmery light gold pigment
-Shimmery Dark bronze shadow
-Shimmery midtone gold shadow

- Apply a white shimmery pigment all over your eyelid up to your brows. I would suggest using a loose pigment
because the colors will be stronger and more sparkly (sparkles are key to this look).
-Take a dark bronze shadow and apply it from your lash line up to the crease in your eye and pull it out into a slight
cat eye. (Use a tissue under your eye to collect dust). After you apply that color make sure to blend it into your white
pigment. Put the same color under your eye as an eyeliner.
-Apply the midtone gold shadow right above your eyelid crease to help blend the bronze and the white together.
-To finish off the look, add a small amount of light gold pigment (preferably fine sparkles) over the top of the whole
eyelid to add an extra pop of HOT!
-Finish off your eyes with a very small amount of mascara on top and bottom.
-Add a VERY light pink blush and nude lipstick.
