Haven’t updated in quite a while just busy trying to get by in these hard times so working whenever I can.So this is a  review since I haven’t really been doing too much.

So on August 19th Vero and I drove all the way to Fresno for Warped Tour we got there about 1130am but went to the mall because it was way too hot omg it was 107 we are use to the hottest being  90 degrees. I love their mall we are planning a shopping trip when it cools down lol. We arrived at the venue maybe 1230 or 1 we got there right when Aiden was playing we tried to rush in but barely missed them. I finally got my Skate 4 Cancer shirt. I love the work Rob Dyder is doing it’s a cause close to my heart . the heat was just too much we escaped to the savemart center theater which had air conditioning we saw frank from the gallows in there which was surprising since a lot the bands weren’t walking around freely like the SF stop because it was just too hot!!! The first band we were able to see was InThis Moment I told vero she would love them and she did the lasttime I saw them was for Ozzfest yes a long time ago the had a small corwd and but they didn’t care they said if we give it our all they would too. They ended coming to the crowd to play well some ran a circle pit around Vero was in Ahh.  I had totally forgot it was Vero first warped so we made a pack to leave after blacktide which was only and hr and half before the end since Tyson from SKSK wasn’t even there so I didnt mind missing their set. Black Tide was great even though they had a small crowd they gave it their all and I’m glad Vero is now a fan and it not just because Steven Spencer looks like Jacob lol All n all im glad we went  love driving to shows its like a mini roadtrip. I wanted to go to Shoreline the next day but work wanted me at 10am so I didn’t want to drive all the way out to get there for like the last 2 bands.

After  warped my work schedule totally changed they want me to go in at nights which is so weird to wait around all day so I haven’t been going to shows . I was really bummed  that no one got back to me about going to Papa Roach which was yesterday  have been waiting forever to se them live I was like might as well go into work until Monday afternoon I look at my phone to see and email from a unknown address saying my Papa Roach tickets have been waiting for me at the local radio station and the office closed in like 4 hrs so needless to say I first jumped up and down called work said I couldn’t go in my boss is so cool!! Ran down got tickets and invited Rose to go  We got there late like always missed saving abel but didn’t care I was there for P Roach !! All of a sudden I see the Papa Roach banner in the back OMG its still daylight I was upset they played so early and no one was into their set but me and a few faithful fans beside me Since it was daylight I had to only use my camera very selective since they deemed it a professional style whatever. P Roach gave their all they played all my favorites and closed with of course Last Resort which everyone started to get with the groove of it lol.

So Hinder came on the Nickelback it seemed everyone there was for nickelback they knew every word me and Rose felt so weird lol I wanted to leave after P roach but decided to stay since tix were free. Nickelback brought the lead singer from Hinder and Jacoby back on stage and sang Highway to Hell by AC/DC. I liked how nickelback talked to the crowd and such it did at times feel like a jam session I liked that fact. We left before the encore and got right outside when nickelback came back on stage we looked at each other laughed and walked to the car and beat all the traffic. So no big shows planned yet  maybe  Trivium later this month. I am going to be going to Gardening ,Not Architecture’s sows that are part of the EIY tour I believe 2 shows for sure still thinkng about the Stockton and SF show

no school

You're probably wondering what the hell kind of shirt is this? The creepy faces and weird designs. Well kids, that is the megnificent work of Andrew Mrotek or "The Butcher" as some would call him. He's the drummer from The Academy Is... and designer of this shirt that comes with signing up with their fanclub. I love this shirt because it's just SO comfortable. It's great for lazy days and paired with skinnie jeans and boots! I didn't see it at first but each band member is on here starting with Adam, Chislett, Carden, William, Butcher (he got cut off ahh!). It's an exclusive t-shirt for Santi's Little Helpers so if you want one and you like The Academy Is... go sign up HERE!

As for everything else, I'm sure a lot of people watched the Grammy's, no? I did watch some of it but half the time it was just SO BORING. I ended right around the time J.T. and Al Green were singing together. It wasn't that good of a performance either. I also missed Blink-182?! They're not re-united or ever going to but it's still amazing that I missed them just because the show had to be so damn boring. I'm probably going to go on YouTube later on and look for it. Someone has to have something of it!! I think Coldplay did a really good performance, too. I saw Katy Perry come down on the giant banana which totally cracked me up. Nobody knows what kind of crazy and outrageous thing she's going to do next. I'm sure people will be telling me their favorite parts so I can just go look them up if I want to see what I missed.

Today was such a relaxing and amazing day. Today was a day off as i'm sure it was for everyone else that goes to school. The weather here was so weird. It was raining!? Can you imagine it raining here so hard where you have to keep your windsheild wipers on so high just so you can make it down the street and not hit another car. We went out for some Pizza Hut which was so warm and perfect with the cold weather outside. I didn't realize how hungry I was until we were driving home and the smell of it was going through the box. It was so hard to not just open the box and eat it right there, you have no idea. I resisted temptation because with my luck the pizza probably would have just slid onto the floor and then everyone else would have been starving because of my selfish needs. I don't need pity people, I need food!! So before that though I was out shopping for my birthday party outfit. On the first try I got a long black shirt with diamonds outlining the circles. I'm going to put a pair of black leggings underneath with my "peter pan" boots. I bought them in Canada when I was there for my summer vacation and they're my favorite pair of boots I have ever bought! All I have to get through is this week and by Friday I'm gonna be ready to just party! I just hope it doesn't rain as bad as it has today. I don't like going up the school stairs in boots because it's so easy to fall. How embarassing would that be to just slip and have a huge wet ass print or something on your jeans? Ugh I'm not going to think about it.

If you haven't heard already - I'm addicted to this song and you should listen to it! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-HuoJEgQZcQ

I need some sleep now for tomorrow, good night!

Change...really?

We go on and on about change in our government lately...why can't the same translate to music?

I hate routine. I like when things get switched up in a cool way. I actually just came back from the hair salon. I change up my hair a lot because I hated looking at the same red hair color and side bangs. I thought it was pretty cool when we elected the first black president. If that's not switching it up, I don't know what is. Apparently Americans liked that kind of change. Music? Not so much.

While we celebrated change in the White House, music on the radio remained the same. The same old auto-tuned singers, the same old click-click-click-clap drum loop, the same old dances. Like what Gavin Rossdale said, in a song that is actually still popular on radio, music, like love, remains the same.

Case in point: British band Keane. If the name sounds familiar to you, it may be because you may know their first single "Somewhere Only We Know", after it was a major hit for the band, gathering major support from VH1, American Idol 6 finalist Blake Lewis, and Grey's Anatomy. It comes off their 2005 debut album, Hopes and Fears, which spawned many a comparison to fellow British band Coldplay, drenched in lush piano rock and introspective lyrics. Hopes and Fears sold 944,000 copies in the United States (just shy of a Platinum certification). Their new record, Perfect Symmetry, has only sold somewhere around 66,000 copies after its October release.

Let's look at it this way: People think Keane, people think "Somewhere Only We Know", Coldplay, Grey's Anatomy, and lots of piano. There are probably three songs on Perfect Symmetry that even come close to that Keane. Perfect Symmetry is a huge departure--synth, electronic drums, and guitar (the band didn't use guitar up until now). That kind of change is too quick for us (even some of us who are Keane diehards, like me, though I still adore the album), and would still prefer to think of Keane as "that band that had that song on Grey's Anatomy", and nothing more, like Perfect Symmetry never happened.

Exhibit B: Nickelback. You know who. Their last album, All The Right Reasons, has sold over 7,000,000 copies in the US, off the success of singles like "Photograph", "If Everyone Cared", and "Rockstar". 7 MILLION. That's after it was released in 2005. Their latest, Dark Horse, is already closing in on 2 million copies sold. That was released in November.

Nickelback are famous for not having strayed from their formula. For this Canadian band, the phrase "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" rings true. Every single they've released has been successful on rock and pop radio. They top every VH1 video countdown, every rock chart, and dominate in ticket sales. For a band who has sounded exactly the same since its first record, that's...commendable?

I will say that there are a few artists out there, who have songs played on pop radio, who are a definite breath of fresh air. Lady GaGa is one. The way she presents herself, as well as her disco-tinged, glitter-fueled pop, should make her a definite hit without being totally cookie cutter. Another one I like is Kevin Rudolf, who blends rock and hip hop in a way Linkin Park can't. These are the artists I hope are successful in the long run. Those who say, "You like this? Try this."

But then there are the T-Pains, Nickelbacks, and Hinders of the world, who, despite sounding the same consistently, sell millions. That's what I don't get.

2009 is going to be a year of change. How about changing up the way we listen to music, too?

Selling Out

I never understood this concept. What does it take for a band to sell out. Do they have to constantly come out with CD's that seem as if they are replicas of one another? Do they change their sound so much no one knows what the hell happened? Do they become too mainstream?

I never fully got the idea of what it took for a band, or any type of artist for that matter to sell out. To some people, it seems to me that the slightest change causes them to freak out. Maybe I guess people don't like change.

I always thought that when a band changes, they are trying to develop as artists, maybe to see what they could get away with. But maybe some bands make the wrong changes. For some bands or artists, they could change up their sound and everyone would love them just the same. For others, they change and it seems like they were just sentenced to a lifetime in Hell. No one seems to want anything to do with them but the "hardcore" fans.

I bring this topic up only because RJA (The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus) just said on their Myspace that they are currently selling their latest single "You Better Pray" on iTunes and because of my website and the fact that I do like them, I checked it out. I listed to the 30 second clip but didn't buy the song and realized that the song has 3 stars so far. As usual, I read the comments and while some people said postive things about the release, others said they had "sold out" and even compared them to others bands such as Nickelback. No one seemed to say why they had sold out though. It seems like a bunch of people just wanted to point a finger.

Other bands such as The Academy Is... have changed their sound in some way for each of their albums and there are still many people that love and adore them. But I wonder of some of that is only because William Beckett is so hot. Well of course that's true. Some people wouldn't give a damn of William didn't look as beautiful as he does. But that is just the small amount of fangirls.

Now I'm not trying to say that RJA sucks or that they are the best band ever, nor am I saying this about . Those bands aren't even a part of this, just examples. What I am trying to understand is what does it to be labeled in such a way. Or it may not even be about that. We are all judged in some way or another and not everyone can love the same thing. Labels are just that, labels.

With other labels though, things are a lot simpler. We can look at someone and stereotype them as being emo or a prep or a skater or a goth or what have you based on what they look because of things found in the media or in pop culture today, but can the same be said about selling out?

So I have been working on stuff for RSC

Lots will be happening and changing on the site. It has been confirmed that we will in fact start making t shirts to sell. I'm still not sure about the band interviews, some people might not take us seriously because of our ages but that doesn't mean that we can't do this anyway. Another factor in all of this is a more personal matter, but I'm sure we can work around that.

We are thinking of getting rid of some of the bands that aren't posted on the site so much. If you want to see them on there more often before I take them off just let me know. Here is the list of those bands:

Nickelback
Taking Back Sunday
Sherwood
30 Seconds to Mars
Linkin Park
Drop Dead, Gorgeous

There are also three bands I would like to put on the site. That list is as follows:

The New Cities (unsigned)
Hey Monday
A Rocket to the Moon

If there are any other bands you want to see on the site then please let me know.

But for the updates for the site, the layout is different, I updated the music players and some of the bios and stuff like that. Check it out and let me know if you like the site or if you want some things changed.

NOTICE: The page for the band The Almost is down at the moment. Don't email me saying that the page isn't there because I know.
