Mindless Self Indulgence's Lyn-Z Tired of Being Labeled 'Gerard's Wife'

Mindless Self Indulgence bassist Lyn-Z is more than happy being the wife of My Chemical Romance singer Gerard Way — but she's more than pissed at people who are just interested in her because of who her hubby is.

"It's f---ed up and totally offensive that my name has totally disappeared and I am now referred to as 'Mrs. Gerard Way,' " Lyn-Z – who married Way on September 3, 2007, following the final date of the Projkect Revolution tour – told Kerrang! It's f---ed up that little kids want to come to my show to see Gerard standing at the side of the stage. And I don't want to have anything to do with it."

Lyn-Z, who has been playing with Mindless Self Indulgence since 2001, also said she wants young girls to be inspired and motivated by what she does. Music shouldn't just be a "man's world" after all, right?

"One of the biggest reasons that I do what I do, is for other women and for other girls, then suddenly, when I got married, that was taken away from me. I'm suddenly 'wife of blah blah blah.' I think it sends such a bad message to girls because it wipes out all the hard work that I did. He [Way] doesn't want that for me either. The questions are neverending, and it's disgusting."

There might be a happy ending to this eye-opening story, though, as Lyn-Z added: "I get a lot of positive reactions, too — people saying that I have inspired them and that feels good. If that stuff wasn't in place, I'd probably throw it all away."

Mrs. Gerard way doesnt sounds good.i dont like that nickname for her. im glad she doesnt like it either. But it's kinda confuse me what she want to inspired us -the girls- when she say "real musician bore her to tears". i guess she wants to make us able to do bendbeck and being a great entertainer. w00t! :P

And i know sh e said inspirating in music, but MSI´s mus ic is not really inspirating when they cur se all the time, Not saying anything mean, i ike a couple of songs of them, they are coo l. and i like how crazy they are but i don ´t get inspirated, but for now, i really resp ect lyn-z i am happy that she said some thing good for her! Magazines need to sell, and the words "My Chemical Romance" are going to catch more attention than "Mindless Self Indulgence." It's the way marketing works. But I'm glad she's speaking her mind about it and not settling for it. I doubt it will change much in the long run, though.

Personally, I knew her long before she married Gerard and while I was a tad jealous of her, I was overjoyed that two of my heroes had hooked up! I have referred to her as Lyn-Z Way or Mrs. Way but never Mrs. Gerard Way...she is an amazing person and should definately not just be recognized by (equally amazing) husband alone. I understand her point of view completely, and I am sure Gerard does as well and supports her. Perhaps it is not so much the women theory, but I do believe it is because of Gerard's place in the music world.
