(500) Days of Summer

Saw the movie just yesterday at the theatre, Ive been having withdrawal syndrome for the past months imagining myself sitting on the theatre with some special guy arguing about the movie.  Yes because I live in the past it only came out this week. Okay here goes what I can say about the movie..

Plot.  Its a story of a boy meets girl, girl meets boy, but then its not a love story, its a story about love.  Haha.  Yeah Basically thats the tagline.  Summer Finn, doesnt believe in love, relationship and all that fairytale nonsense, the narrator mentioned its because of the disintegration of her parents marriage.  While Tom Hansen is otherwise, he invisions himself spending the rest of his life with the woman he loves, his soulmate, the narrator(whom is very helpful in giving understanding to the background of the plot) mentioned that it stemmed from his addiction to British pop music and the misinterpretation of "The Graduate." So when Tom meets Summer he fell in love with her and he decided that shes the woman hes going to spend his life with, shes the one.  Summer on the other hand dont make it clear to Tom the status of what they have, they hold hands, they had shower sex but then according to Summer, theyre just friends, which Tom angrily replied, "friends, my balls."  The story progresses through back and forth happenings within the 500 days Tom had known Summer.  Its quite unique because if youre going to sit there starting on the middle of the film you absolutely wont get the tiny details, those tiny big details that are actually significant to the plot, on how he was madly inlove with her, their arguments about Ringo Starr, Nancy and Sid and how they pretended they own Ikea.  I really like how they made the movie, the color, the plot, there are some small lapses by the writer but then it was quite consistent.  I also like how Tom have her little sister as his voice of reason, telling him to weigh his decisions. It was a feel good movie all right. Its not really that unhappy ending because in the end they learn fro each other.  Oh by the way the ending, Summer married a guy she met at a deli while shes waiting for Tom and that broke Toms heart.

Zooey Deschanel as Summer Finn.  Her blue eyes blend with the movies color tone.  Shes not really a remarkable actor, shes okay, she could act quite natural.  But yeah the role suits her.  I like her dresses in the movie and her 60's hair cut.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Tom Hansen.  He's a good actor, yeah.  He cool at being the bizzare romantic 'deep' guy.  I think I might fall for his smile.  So I reckon his performance was effective becasue I could feel his emotions, I could relate to his characters thoughts.  I love his shirts in the movie especially Joy Divisons, Love Will Tear Us Apart.

The Songs from the Movie.  The soundtrack is plain awesome.  Old times like Simon and Gurfunkel, Hall and Oates, The Smiths (thats how hey started their first conversation), Regina Spektor, yeah British music.  They chose the right songs for the scenes, like the scenes would be nothing without the songs on the background, perfectly suited.  And yeah for the next three weeks or so i might be listening to the soundtrack over and over on my headphones.

Best Movie Opening.  The movie opens with the authors note: The following is a work of fiction. Any resemblance to persons living or dead is purely coincidental. Especially you Jenny Beckman. Bitch.

Overall.  Great feel good movie, maybe not the movie that you would watch on widescreen but yeah its a movie that provoke thoughts, discussions, debates and arguments. A movie that make sense, not the average romantic flick because it has the indie feel to it.  So if you love British music, indie films and Ringo Starr, you might not want to miss this movie.  I'll give it four and a half stars out of five.

PS;

There was scene at the park where Tom and Summer is having like a contest on who could say the word "penis" louder.  For the lulz me and my friend did it at Dunkin Donuts, that felt great.

for a more film critic way of reviewing the movie here.

wow this movie shocked me in a good way. I loved it! i am not to faund of the new horror movies but this one was amazing! a must see! it was like carrie meets the exorsists meets old school hollywood movies haha the only thing that i didnt like that would have made this an amazing movie was the graphics....they were too fake sometimes and it was a party pooper haha but other than that wow it was good.

Are You Ready For "The Twilight Saga: New Moon"? Have You Chosen Team Jacob Or Team Edward?

"The Twilight Saga: New Moon" opens up with an image of a moon on screen suggesting the werewolves will come out and Bella's (Kristen Stewart) life is still dark and incomplete. The film ends with Bella taking an exaggerated breath of air, insinuating she will take a leap of faith with Edward. Everything in between is delivered exactly how Team Edward and Team Jacob fans want the plot to go down. New Moon at last ...

Wes Anderson's "Fantastic Mr. Fox" Is Truly Fabulous

Fantastic Mr. Fox is truly fantastic. I can't claim to remember the Roald Dahl book perfectly, but the film certainly offers a fun and corky plot line, with witty foxes whom have human like characteristics and lifestyles. Wes Anderson took adaptations and visions both from what a kid and an adult would take from a story such as Roald Dahl's 'Fantastic Mr. Fox'. Learn how fabulous Mr. Fox is ...

OLIVIA WILDE AND DIRECTOR TAO RUSPOLI PREPARE FOR WORLD PREMIERE OF FEATURE FILM "FIX" IN NEW YORK CITY NOVEMBER 14TH

LSI  -- November 4th, 2009 -- Actress Olivia Wilde (“House”) will join director/husband Tao Ruspoli (JUST SAY KNOW), Shawn Andrews (DAZED AND CONFUSED), and Megalyn Echikunwoke (“24”, “C.S.I. Miami”) on the red carpet at the Tribeca Grand Screening Room on November 14th, 2009 for the official premiere of their critically  acclaimed new film FIX.  The award winning film, which Oliver Stone said marks the arrival of "a bold new style and talent", opens in New York City at the Village East Cinema on November 20th.

The filmmakers have also launched several contests to support the film’s opening. The first, “What’s Your FIX?”, asks contestants to create a short video about that one thing they can’t live without. Finalists will be selected by director Ruspoli and participants will be competing for prizes including two tickets to the red carpet premiere with Wilde, Ruspoli and cast. The winning video will be screened for the opening night audience at the Village East Cinema on November 20th prior to FIX.

Also just announced is a contest that will run on Twitter starting the week of November 16th. Contestants play by following the director (@TaoRuspoli) on Twitter. Beginning November 16th and running through the 25th, Ruspoli – winner of the Heineken Red Star Award - will send a ‘ticket giveaway NOW” alert at a random time each day via Twitter. The first tweet back each day wins; between the 16th and the 20th the winner receives a pair of tickets for the Opening Night screening on evening of the 20th, and from the 21st through the 25th they win a pair of tickets to that evening’s New York City screening - personally given to them by Ruspoli at the theater before showtime. Winner may transfer prize to a local friend if winner is out of state.

A third contest is called “What’s Your Dog’s FIX?”.  The contest is cosponsored by Tailwaggers Pets and features the film’s canine co-star Lola Prosciutto Ruspoli, an English Bulldog owned in real life by Wilde and Ruspoli. Contestants need to snap a photo of their pet and write a short essay about their dog’s fix.  Prizes include a $500 gift certificate to Tailwaggers Pets and an 8x10 glossy ‘pawtographed’ by Lola and signed by Wilde and Ruspoli.

Trick or Haunt Wizards

It's daylights savings time so it is 2:54 am and im sitting up in my boyfriend's bed wide awake feeling quite too many emotions. Last night was Halloween. My favorite time of the year... so I thought. Surrounded by control freaks, drunks, and ending in an empty movie theater wasn't the night I expected at all. I loved seeing my boyfriend, but everything crashed, I couldn't even dress up like I wanted to.

It gets worse. So what I thought was a done deal comes back to haunt me in the end. I try to do good but in the end I come out with two left feet. I can't get why people even do it. Not IT. Get your heads out of the gutter. I'm speaking about a specific something else. I mean, if you have what you need why turn back and use sources to fulfill an empty. If you have it, why go search. If it's in the palm of your hands why turn around and reach for something more.

Better yet, i wished you'd  reach out to ME.

In the end it's all a game. I choose whether to stay or go.

I saw "Saw VI" again today. && saw that Converse came out with 'The Clash' shoes.

FAIL.

Do you Like em? The band or shoes. Could be both, one or neither.

xoxoxo

Anyone want a free movie ticket?

I have a Fandango code that expires on Halloween that I won't be able to use. If anyone wants it, just comment. I'd hate to see it go to waste!
