Nihon ryori
At Iwaso, the amazing ryokan I stayed at on Miyajima. Every meal consisted of nine or ten courses, each as scrumptious and beautifully presented as this one.

I've been confronted with sazae three times now. The first time it was whole(minus the head) and blue--i refused to eat it. The second time it was like in your picture, but so tough i couldn't finish. The third time, i asked the math teacher beside me if he wanted it..he declined as one was enough and it was not oiishi..so i gave it to one of the secretaries to eat...but i never refuse amaebi.

The sazae and amaebi were both delicious -- the sashimi was kind of chewy and tough. I have no idea what kind of fish it was but I'd never had it before.
