The Dark Knight...well Batman in general
What an amazing movie!!!! I do not get out to the movies as much as I want to at all anymore but I had to make sure I saw this one not only in theatres but as soon as it opened (movies always get ruined for me by everyone talking about them)! I LOVE the Batman movie franchise. Yeah this started about me talking about the Dark Knight but I went to give props to Michael Keaton and it snowballed from there!!!
Batman...Michael Keaton is probably what I know as Batman from the movies, like he was my first Batman I think I was 12 or so when it came out. Jack Nicholson as the Joker, Kim Bassinger was Vicki Vale, and funny Billy Dee Williams was Harvey Dent lol! I haven't seen it in awhile but I remember Jack Nicholsons Joker like no other!
Batman Returns I just watched a couple of months ago, Michael Keaton returns (can I also add that he was a hot fucking Batman) this was with Danny Devito as the Penguin, ohhhhh and my fave of course Cat Woman...Michelle Pfeiffer! It was always a weird story to me though. How they tried, well the way they tied the story together, it was like what does the Penguin have to do with Catwoman lol!! I always say I'm going to end up the crazy cat lady, as long as I end up a sultry crazy cat lady I guess all will be well. I think Christopher Walken was in it too.
Oh 2 more words: Tim Burton
Batman Forever was next. Val Kilmer, Nicole Kidman, Jim Carey, Chris O' Donnell. Not one of my favorite ones, I watched it, actually I worked at Great Adventure at the time this came out and of course it was the biggest thing ever and it was drilled in our heads. The stunt show for this was awesome, lol!!! Wsan't the best again, sure as hell wasn't the worst (we're getting there)
Batman & Robin....wow, that was a debacle, lol. I think I've seen it once or twice, I try to avoid it all cost. I hated it. And it was full of people I really like otherwise. George Clooney, Uma Thurman, Alicia Silverstone, Arnold Schwarzenager was in it too but it sucked!! I was still at Great A when this came out. HUGE deal for the park. Batman and Robin The Chiller was the coaster of the year. It is an amazing coaster (fuck how did I go from the Dark Knight, to all of Batman, to rollercoasters!) but when it came out the motor for the coaster wasn't strong enough to shoot you from the 0 to 70 in 4 seconds (I had to look up the speed http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Batman_&_Robin:_The_Chiller) front to back. I ran the store connected to the ride and my boss at the time his dad was the head mechanic at the park so we knew all the ride flaws lol! I've riden that thng at least 50 times. Again the movie sucked but the ride was amazing!!!! I spent many summer night on this coaster!! (I fucking love roller coasters by the way since I'm sharing, working at a theme park for 5 years had HUGE rollercoaster perks!)
Catwoman was thrown in there somewhere, it was good, Halle did an amazing job even though I always think of Ertha Kitt when I think of Catwoman lol!!
I'm glad they made the choice of Christian Bale for the next Batman. To me he is the 2nd best (no one can top Keaton). But he also will always be American Psycho to me!!
I did not see Batman Begins in the movies, I don't know why I didn't but I didn't, I wish I would've. It was the best behind the first to me. Of course with the change of times the graphics were amazing, again, Christian Bale is sexy. Gary Oldman is in it, Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine, great great great...Katie Holmes was a little flaky, I was wondering why I couldn't remember Maggie Gyllanhal's character...
The Dark Knight. Fucking awesome. Well I didn't follow the making of it, I usually don't because they give away a lot of the movie. I knew it was going to be dark...I however did not know that Gotham was Chicago lol!!! I'm sitting in the theatre last night and from one of the first shots of the city I lean to my sister and go "What the fuck dude, they're in Chicaco!" of course she said I'm nuts but I am a dork and I know the buildings of Chicago when I see them, especially since I was JUST there. Heath Ledgers Joker was something special! It's one of those things where you cannot compare his Joker to Nicholsons Joker...but he played the fuck out of that role! Explosions, amazing, story line, amazing, costumes AMAZING, I think it was worth all the hype and build up.
Oh there was this one costume Heath wore, when he was dressed as a nurse, that so would make an awesome Halloween costume!!!
I'm going to see it in IMAX on Friday. Yay NYC!!
