The famous Art Deco district has historic buildings from the mid 1900s.
Art Deco is considered to be an elegant and modern style
of architecture.

There are Art Deco buildings in other cities, such as the Chrysler building in NY,
and other countries including Brazil, Argentina and Europe.
South Beach is the only official Art Deco Historic district in the US,
and there are hundreds of interesting buildings.
When it was renovated in the 1980s the plan was controversial.
Some people wanted to remove the historic buildings
and replace them with a concrete jungle.

The renovation plan worked, and now it is a beautiful
and popular place!

Yes, there are many nice Art Deco buildings in Argentina, but they are most in Buenos Aires. It's far from where I live.
