December 31, 2009

Another 2009 in review...

First off, my favorite songs released this year (in semi-chronological order):

The Dangerous Summer - The Permanent Rain
First heard this in January, and saw it live in December. Full circle?

The Downtown Fiction - Living Proof
Okay, so this was released last year, but the EP this year... so it counts!

State and Madison - By The Time You See The Sun
First heard this on Valentine's Day, when they performed it. They put it up in May for a free download. You should check them out. stateandmadison.net

All Time Low - Weightless
This song couldn't have come out at a better time, because it's exactly how I was feeling, fed up with school and terrible case of senioritis.

The Summer Set - Chelsea
It's been months, and it's still not out of my head. Sidenote: I figured out that this was about Chelsea Staub while at a concert at which The Summer Set played, after getting hit in the head with a cellphone that was in her hand. I didn't make the connection. My friends did when I went back and told them about the really pretty girl who hit me in the head and apologized profusely. Yeah, I'm slow, even when it's spelled out in front of me. "Hi, I'm that girl all over the lead singer, and my name's Chelsea."

Single File - Zombies Ate My Neighbors
I'd never heard of Single File before I bought tickets to see The Plain White Ts. I left a fan of this Denver trio, and this song is adorable. But not as cute as Velcro, but that's not from this year...

Death Cab For Cutie - I Was Once A Loyal Lover
Easily my favorite track on the Open Door EP.

Cavashawn - Secret Satisfaction
Take any sexual meaning out of this, and it describes my enamor with this band perfectly.

Taking Back Sunday - Swing
What was with all the New Again hate?

Passion Pit - The Reeling
Okay, so the song makes me think of All That. But what's wrong with the 90s?

Cobra Starship - Wet Hot American Summer
Hot Mess is a fun album. And that's all. It's hard to take seriously. But they put on an amazing live show, and this song is perfect for summertime. Or packing for college.

fun. - At Lease I'm Not As Sad (As I Used To Be)
I was hooked on fun. It was the first CD I bought once I got to college, and it started my incessant CD buying. If you haven't heard Aim and Ignite yet, you should change that as soon as possible. I'm still working on seeing these guys live, so far my two attempts have been foiled, and the third one doesn't seem promising either. But some day... some day. I'm at least going to play TTR until I can unlock this song.

Meese - Count Me Out
Stephenie Meyer professed her love for this band when they professed their love for Twilight. Irrelevant. I just like this song.

Iyaz - Replay
Try to not get this song stuck on replay in your head. I dare you.

Mayday Parade - Anywhere But Here
Clichéd? Maybe. Catchy? Yes. Enjoyable? Definitely.

Relient K - Part Of It
I liked Forget and Not Slow Down, but it was this song that gave me my glimpse of the occasionally cheesy Relient K that I love, while still being meaningful.

Lights Out Dancing - Ever The Optimist
We all need happiness.

Every Avenue - Saying Goodbye
This kind of tugs at my heart a bit. I think it's the beginning of the song.

Dashboard Confessional - I Know About You
Okay, I think this was just on my mind when I wrote this list. This is very fall heavy.

Favorites of 2009

So this is just a mix of my favorite things of 2009.

MAYDAY PARADE!!! So i used to not really like them but now I'm heels over head for them. Hate me if you like, but I actually like them more without Jason, just like I like Anarbor more without Jess.

Speaking of Anarbor, I'm in love. Plain and simple. As I said, I didn't care much for Jess. I think girls just add drama that is uneeded, making everyone think she is hooking up with all the bandmembers and that shit. The only case this isn't true for me is with Paramore.

Paramore's new album brand new eyes blows my mind. It is so amazing, I cannot name one song on the album I don't like.

The Maine...well, where to start. There are honestly just too many things to say about these boys so I'll just lay it out. They Can't Stop, and they Won't Stop for some time to come.

All Time Low. Though many do not care for their newest album, I like it. I don't care much for the song Too Much, but otherwise in my top five top albums of 2009.

So All time Low had this lovely song called Toxic Valentine on the Jennifer's Body soundtrack. I have been listening to this cd nx since I got in September. If anyone reading this has heard it, you will most likely understand why.

NeverShoutNever... that's all I have to say.

Stephen Jerzak, courtesy of Buzznet and Purevolume I can listen to him everyday.

BUZZNET!! It is my addiction of 2009 and it will continue on into the future for as long as I can tell. Fan fics go along with Buzznet. I love writing and reading fan fics. I would like to thank everyone of you who have read and put some input in on my fics. I appreciated it to an extent that I cannot even verbalize.

I hope everyone had an amazing 2009, I know I did. I'm looking forward to 2010 since I'll finally be out of high school, and plus The Maine and Anarbor are both going to put out new albums! Yes!!!

sing it like your screaming at me

I probably made a mistake going to a concert last night, but Mayday Parade is terrific live, and I've been really into The Dangerous Summer lately. Mayday Parade was even better than I remember them being, but it's been 13 months, and while The Dangerous Summer was a little dissapointing, I blame the fact nobody around me knew them and AJ's microphone being turned down a little too low relative to everything else. It was still amazing, and the lead singer called my friend out because he was actually into it and singing along to all the words. So all in all, it was good. And Mayday Parade did say that they wrote Get Up purely to play live, which is exactly what I thought when I first heard the song, because that's what it's about. And it served it's purpose, it got everyone up off their feet.

Except that I forgot to eat dinner before going, and had only eaten breakfast and snacks all day, so when I got back around 11:30, I had a headache and a paper to finish. I ate dinner... and got a stomachache that still hasn't gone away. But my paper was pretty much finished. I tried to edit it, but I gave up and went to sleep. And now that I've edited it, and I realized how terrible it is, but there's no way I can improve it in the next two hours because it's at the required length, so it would take a lot of changing around of things. So long as I don't get a C on it, my grade shouldn't be effected too much.

But that's beside the point. Mayday Parade. If they ever come near you, you should check them out live. And you should listen to The Dangerous Summer's album, Reach For The Sun, because it's impressive - melancholic and thoughtful, while still hopeful.

Mayday Parade played:

Jamie All Over
Three Cheers For Five Years
When I Grow Up (PCD cover)
Still Breathing
The SIlence
Kids in Love
Miserable At Best
You Be The Anchor That Keeps My Feet On The Ground, I'll Be The Wings That Keep Your Heart In The Cloud
When I Get Home, You're So Dead
Get Up
Jersey
Anywhere But Here
I Swear, This Time I Mean It
I'd Hate To Be You When People Find Out What This Song Is About

It might be out of order, and I might be missing something.

That was also my 18th show this year. I think I'm done for the year now, with the 17 days left in it. There was a show I thought about going to at the end of the month, but it sold out. I've been to 7 shows this semester... so hopefully my parents won't think that's the reason my grades are lower than usual. Because it's not.

Next Photos Probably are coming From...

the 2010 Take Action! Tour featuring A Rocket To The Moon, There For Tomorrow, We The Kings, Mayday Parade, and Stereo Skyline.

I saw We The Kings on tour during GK and they were really good live, they're just not my favorite band. I hope I can squeeze in a couple more concerts and hopefully I can get a photo pass so I don't have to do it in front of a mosh pit again.

Lyrics

My friend Jasmine and I are starting to form a band and here's some lyrics, kinda! IWe wrote down and can't finish. It's about feeling desperate and feel like dying 'cuz of personal things (the guy you like finds out , you like him and he likes you back and it's wrong.)And plus you have to deal with people's bull shit and put up's.

Mayday Parade inspired me for this one by their song 'When I Get Home , You're So Dead'.

"So pull the trigger , it never gets closer , you want to start over , but not start over, but never start over...."

&

All Time Low 'Lullabies'.

"Make it a sweet , sweet goodbye. It could be for the last time and it's not right...."

Chorus:

I feel like crying into somebody's arms,

Where I can find comfort ,

And cry as much as I can ,

And stop holding on to the tears i've been choking on for too long ,  to myself.

Oh!These head aches are causing the death of me.

V1

Sing a lullaby,

Sing in to me,

As I cry,

Hold me tight,

'cuz this could be the end of me , when I die...

Tell me, "It's alright.Don't cry!"

V2

It feels like I'm dying,

And I'm kinda liking it,

Is this feeling alright?

Teach me the wrong and right.

I can't make up my mind,

All this confusion, drama, head aches...

Doesn't help me make decisions or concentrate,

Cut my wrist , and sell my soul to the devil.

I can't finish it :(

My problem:

I really like this guy. He's in 7th grade and I'm in 8th grade and I also met him 2 weeks ago and wednesday he asked my best friend (Crystal), out and she said,  "no 'cuz my best friend likes you and I don't like you anyway."And my best friend made him guess , 'cuz he was bugging her.And when he guessed me he txed me, "Hey!wasup?".I reply, "Abut 2 get a shot.Wbu?".I wait for his msg."Playing guitar.Crystal told me."I'm like in my mind 'OH FUCK!FUCK!FUCKITY!FUCK!HE FOUND IT BUT IM NOT GOING TO SPILL OUT TOO EASILY'.So I reply "wat?".He txts, "Gues." i reply, "I dunno?I havin ben thixing 4 da past 3 wks.Just tel me!!Plz!" I get his txt, "Gues."I reply "I srsly dnt knw.JUST FUCKIN' TELL ME ALRDY!" And my secret is out."Dat u lik me."In my mind i'm like 'oh shit!mother fucker!' I reply "no.I dnt." he replies "K.watever i dnt care if your lying."and I'm like "he already knows, so I don't care that much'. I reply back "I just thinx ur kinda cute 2 b honest."And after I reply he gets me confuse and makes me guess something."Gues." he txts.I reply, "U got me confuse.Idk?I cnt thinx straight.TELL ME!PLZ!:)" and the shocking moment comes 'cuz he went out w/ my bf Crystal before I met him and my friend thought  he was okay and gave him a chance , but I actually know him since elementary school, but he doesn't remeber,'cuz he doesn't metion anything about it, so I act like I met him."I lik u to" he txts.I'm like 'wow!didn't see that coming!' and he's in 7th grade and i'm in 8th grade.I reply, "Oh.Dis is a fucked up , crazy ass wrld!" he replies, "Wat?" I reply, "It just dat it feels wrng liking u cuz Crystal still likes u alot!& it's just sooooo wrng.& im dis wk ive been tryin 2 get u out of my mind and forget u."He replies,"forget me.I wanna be luvd." and reply "I will sooner or later."

"I get his txt, "I like bth u & Crystal."I try to be strong and txt, "Jasmine & I ar goin 2 hook u guys up.Is dat kool?" and he replies, "K." and i tx him, "So were kewl?& wanna b frends ONLY?".He replies, "Yea were kewl and can b friends."The worse part is that he hangs out in our group at break and lunch and stares at me all the time! When I dare to see him in the eyes , he stares at me.I like it ,but I try to reject it.You get lost in his nice brown eyes. Can't help it and turn my head away fast.I made an excuse that something personal in my family happened and that's why I don't want to hang out with my friends. He stares me at me when we walk in the hallways, when we sit in the tables and anything and everything I do.I couldn't be around  him since the day he found out that I like him.Been feeling awkward aroung him so I hang out w/ my bff since the age of 3 or 4 years old and tell her Emma (my bff) about it.Yesterday I had the guts to see him in his face and talk 'cuz we have p.e together. This fatass guy get stuck in between the poles in the hallway and the guy I like, Mark helps him and I yell,"wtf?!YOU FUCKING RETARD!MARK DON'T HELP HIM!" and he says "Jazmin!"blah, blah!I couldn't hear him well cuz of lmao.Btw my name is JaZmin w/ a "Z" and no "E".Anyway today each friday's at my school they only let you use your Ipod and phone every friday ONLY.And, oh!My friend Crystal txted him what he thinks about me and he told her dat he thinx I'm musically pretty and have a lovely pesonality and he would go out with me(I read the txt). And when I was dancing, singing around to, "Lost In Stereo" w/ my bff Marzel he kept starting at us and when I would see him and he would smile and I would fake smile and kept doing my thing. He confuses me!I sometimes want to ask him if he does like me or not?Cuz he stares at me all the time.Agh!Boys!Such assholes!Sooo hard to get over a guy...

I'd like comments and advice/tips.That'd be nice :)

Mayday Parade Concert! 12/6/09

Okay so as you know, I went to a Mayday Parade concert on December 6th! Yesterday!

The order was City Lights, The Dangerous Summer, There for Tomorrow, and last but not least MAYDAY PARADE!

I love Mayday, but I had to leave early! I did get to hear however:

Jamie All Over

Three Cheers for Five Years

When I Grow Up (PCD cover)

Miserable at Best (<3)

You be the anchor...

and Anywhere But Here!

(they played other newer songs that i forgot the names of)

I love There For Tomorrow! They played "A Little Faster" and me and my cousin were being ridiculous and screaming about Ben 10 <3

The Dangerous Summer was cool too!

And I loved loved loved City Lights! I never heard them before, and now i love them! Chase Clymer (their bassist) is so hot! He was by the merch stands after, and I was gonna talk to him, but I chickened out and talked to There For Tomorrow's merch guy, and he's my new favorite person!

I got some pretty bad pictures, really blurry and bad because my cousin that took them was short, but still taller than me. We were the youngest people there, and some girl i saw texting was swearing and saying bad things about me calling me twelve and I highly dislike that girl!

Up In The Air Playlist

This weekend I watched a little TV (no, I didn't aquire one, I was at boyfriend's house) and caught a few movie trailers as a result. One was for "Up In The Air" starring George Clooney and Ryan Bingham. He's a guy who's job requires him to live out of a suitcase and then BAM his job changes and he's a grounded person.

As a little Monday morning activity, I've created what I think is a good "up in the air" playlist. Let's do this...
