the challenge: list 12 songs that cheer you up and why
(in no particular order!) 1) A Perfect Murder-- Blinded Black;; in this song, a line goes: "oh my god, oh my god! it's 2am! oh my god, oh my god! with my best friend!" true, the song meaning is completely different, but my best friend and i, before i moved, would have 2am street parties where we would go out into the middle of our little street, play music, take pictures, and goof off with my brother and any friends that he might have over. i mean, we even set the street on fire. the memories make this song for me 2) Build God, Then We'll Talk-- Panic At The Disco;; everytime i listen to this song, i picture the music video in my head. the mime doing all the sex motions up on the stage cracks me up, but that's not the only reason. my brother, who i don't think has ever seen the video, will randomly make the same gestures. so this song makes me think of my brother's stupidity which is something i miss being eight hours away from him. 3) Complainte De La Butte-- Rufus Wainwright;; if you've seen Moulin Rouge, you've heard this song. it's a gorgeous song done in 3/4 time, very waltz-ish. Rufus sings in both english and french and the mixing of the two is something that is extremely calming and relaxing. it's just gorgeous 4) Dear Maria-- All Time Low;; any song that can make me want to get up and act like a fool no matter where i am when i hear it is a plus. there's something about this song that always makes me want to just start dancing no matter where i hear it. i get an extreme endorphine rush and everything seems so much better. yay =) 5) Grenade Jumper-- Fall Out Boy;; "hey chris (khrys), you were our (my) only friend. i know this seems belated, we (i) love you back!" before i moved to tennessee, my friend robyn changed this song around to fit me about how i was her only friend (that lived on the same street) and that she was going to miss me when i moved. so everytime i hear it, it makes me think of her and all the crazy stuff we did together. 6) Operetta VII-- The City's Finest;; it's a mix of a'capella and rock. how could that not make you smile? just hearing the mixing of the voices like something out of bohemian rhapsody, but with more guitar and bass and drums. it's just one of those songs that can easily bring a smile to your face 7) How Far We've Come-- Matchbox 20;; it's a happy outlook on the end of the world, amazing! yes, as a whole, we've all come so far from when we first started off, but how much farther can we go before we push all limits pass their extreme? 8) I'm Not Okay (I Promise)-- My Chemical Romance;; a song about it being okay to not be okay. the perfect song to play at full volume when you've had that extremely crappy day when you've failed yet another probability and statistics quiz or you had been walking home from work and fell into a hole and almost lost your cell. i don't know if it's the instrumentation or the lyrics, but something about that song just let's you feel so much better when listening to it 9) Love To Hate, Hate To Me-- A Static Lullaby;; this was the first ASL song i had ever heard, thanks to lauren *lesserthanthree* at the end of the song, the way the singer says "goodnight my lovvvvvvvve" just cracks me up mainly because robyn says "love" like that on a normal basis. and it reminds me of what an awesome friend (lauren) i made through buzznet 10) Maybe Misery-- Quietdrive;; i first heard of this band when they opened up for bowling for soup at the house of blues in orlando, florida. i went with two of my best friends at the time (zack and jennifer). this was the first song ( i think ) that they played and we three just clicked with it. everytime we say each other afterwards, we'd start singing the lyrics randomly. i miss them, but when i hear this song, it makes me remember that they're still my best friends, even though one's in utah and the other's in texas now. 11) My Moves Are White (Hot That Is)-- Cobra Starship;; first off, gabe is yummy. no doubt about it! and just listening to him sing the song with lyrics such as "i know that i talk a lot, but i back it up"? it just makes me smile, ha ha <3 12) Sadie Hawkin's Dance-- Reliant K;; "sadie hawkin's dance, in my khaki pants, nothing's better.. oh Oh OH!" i saw this band back in july and when they played this song, they pulled this guy from the crowd and let him play guitar to this song with them. his guitar was plugged in and they let him sing as well. it was amazing because i've never seen a band do that. plus, the lyrics, i think, are hillarious!
