November 27, 2009Childhood Tunes.I don't know about you, but the music I listened to as a child adapted me to listen what I listen to now. I grew up listening from this to that and the other thing and I think it helped me have a broad understanding of music now. Here are some bands I listened to growing up, and sure as hell still listen to!
I'm not sure about you guys, but blink-182 was probably one of the bigget infulences on my life. My older brother, (seven years older than I) introduced me to them, I've been listening to them since I can remember. I remember being so exited when Take Off Your Pants and Jacket came out, and Untitled. I own every blink album created and I cried when they broke up/went on hiatus. Yes, I was one of those kids who jumped around on their bed, playing skilled air guitar and belted out the words to Dammit. I was not a sheltered child when it came to language, so their lyrics never phased me. Although, when my brother taught me how to sing Easy Target, my mother was not pleased. The first song I ever learned on drums was The Rock Show and is my favorite to play.
Jimmy Eat World. Oh dear, how do I explain these boys? So what if I was four when Clarity came out? Again, my brother. My brother was who I looked up to when I was younger, he was cool.. Sort of. The second I listened to Jim's voice I knew I was in love. Not joking. Their music was real, and I knew it. It was something I could relate to as I grew up, every album, every song. Their album Bleed American was my anthem as I grew up, not to mention Futures, and Chase The Light. A Sunday was my favorite song for three and a half years and I remember laying on my floor, legs up on my bed, nearly broken headphones resting on my ears and let each fabric of the song let me escape.
These boys hold a special place in my heart because their are from Washington Transatlanticism is one of my favorite songs of all time, the soul of that song 'I need you so much closer' is hauting and brilliant. I had the joy of seeing Death Cab play at Bumbershoot Music and Arts Festival in Seattle of 2008, let me tell you, it was a mind blowing experience. They put on quite a show, it wasn't because of the fireworks or the mass amount of people. It was because of their music, how they can adapt to any setting and the music flows freely through the air. Once again, my brother, showed me Death Cab and I've been in love ever since. I had always wondered what drew Ben Gibbard to be such a lyrical genius. I still don't know, but I've grown not to question it.
Third Eye Blind, oh boy. I must say, my brother is what got me into music. Third Eye Blind never failed to create honest music. Everything about them is just amazing, I know not a creative sentence, but how else do I word it? Their self titled album was one I'll cherish forever. When they let the world know know of their hiatus I was heartbroken. How could they stop creating such music? I held onto their album Blue forever, in hopes that they might reunite. And they did, they broke out with Out of the Vein. Yet another full album do add to my collection. There is is. The bands that got me into music, I'm so thankful for them. Sounds corny, but without them I don't know what the hell I would be listening to now. So. Leave a comment below telling me what band or artist you listened to when you were younger! -- Bands that I listened to growing up that didn't make the list: Coldplay The Starting Line Bright Eyes No Doubt Sunny Day Real Estate The Beatles

November 21, 2009Unsigned Bands of November.
Named "One of the top unsigned bands in America" by Alternative Press, I can't help but agree. What's with all these amazing bands coming from Arizona? Well, here's another to add to your book. Raining and Ok come out with some amazing music. They create something different, it isn't just your average poppey songs with generic lyrics. Raining and Ok stand up in the genre such as bands like Coldplay, Jimmy Eat World and Death Cab For Cutie. Their music will have you tapping your heel on the ground and belting on the lyrics with your eyes closed and listening to every fabric of the song. These boys will be recording with Grammy award winning producer Mitch Dane on their upcoming release. Spinning: Always Will Be Myspace.com/RaningandOK @RainingandOk
The Best Week Ever hails from the east coast, New York and New Jersey. Their music has a nice blend of voices, Lacey and Tom's vocals mesh together perfectly. Their music has lyrics that anyone can relate to, strong vocals, guitar progression that can keep you tapping your feet and that piano that adds the finishing touch to everything. Check out these guys (and gal) for new songs coming soon! Spinning: I'm Not The One For Complaining But... Myspace.com/TheBestWeekEver @TheBestWeekEver

October 7, 2009Top 10 JIMMY EAT WORLD Songs
Our Top 10 Jimmy Eat World Songs (according to the Epitaph Accountants) Here in the Epitaph Accountant's corner, we listen to ALOT of music...and we also talk a lot about music.. and we also work alot...with music. Something we can all agree on is that collectively, Jimmy Eat World is one of our favorite bands. That's why we have dubbed Jimmy Eat World, the Official Band of the Accountants Corner. A few months ago, we told a member from Jimmy Eat World, via twitter, about their prestigious status. Unfortunately, I think we kinda creeped them out w/ our over enthusiasm. Oops. Did I also mention that we sang "Sweetness" at the Epitaph Holiday party 2008?Ill post pics ASAP Today we all decided to write down our Top 10 Jimmy Eat World songs. Here is what we've gathered. Post YOUR Top 10 fave JEW songs in the notes section.

September 28, 2009As the Hands Are Spinning, They're Waving Good-bye (Chp. 28)
OMG IT LIVES!!! when was the last time i posted a chapter for this? it feels like ages since i've written this fic... it's been going on for a while now and i think it's time to wind it down... well enjoy!! it's not very long.
We were all gathered in a circle behind the stage. I could hear the sounds of hundreds of voices chit-chatting as the crowd exited the park. Some people were roaming around, enjoying the crisp winter air that had fallen over Franklin. Josh and I huddled near the approximated head of the circle, his arms enveloping me in a warm embrace that warded off the cold. My mom and dad were sitting next to us, ready to tell everyone the results. I could feel anticipation wreaking havoc on my too-still form. Jeremy and Sarah were sitting across from us, Jeremy rubbing Sarah’s arms as she shivered lightly. The sun had set and the frigid weather was even more apparent now than before. Taylor was sitting next to them and Zac and Emily closed up the circle. Jim, Rick, Tom, and Zach were gathered behind them, their faces hidden in shadow. Everyone was silent, waiting. “Well,” my dad broke the silence. “You all know why we’re here. We counted and recounted the money many times…” “And?” my nervous voice asked. Everyone seemed to perk up, waiting for the verdict. “Well, Emily informed us that she raised a good $10,000 from the bake sale,” my dad informed us. I raised my eyebrows in shock, smiling appreciatively at Emily. She smiled back sheepishly. Wow. $10,000 off of cookies and brownies. Who would’ve thought? “A lot of people paid extra,” Emily mentioned. “That still leaves us with a good $140,000 to raise,” Josh reminded everyone. We all nodded, gulping as my dad opened his mouth to reveal how much we’d managed to get from the concert. “Well, donations that Taylor collected came out to be around $5,000… and the money made from concert tickets came out to….” We all subconsciously leaned forward, getting annoyed by the suspense. “$90,000 including the donations made during ticket purchase time,” he revealed. My face fell as I did the math in my head. We had $150,000 prior to the concert. Add to that the $10,000 from the bake sale, $5,000 in donations, and $90,000 in ticket sales… we only had $255,000. $45,000 under the amount we needed. I felt Josh give me a comforting squeeze as we all let out a collective sigh. After all that work, we hadn’t met our goal. “What now?” I asked no one in particular. “We keep working,” Josh said, fire in his voice. “We’ve come this far, we can raise more. We just need more time. Did we really expect to get all the money in one sitting?” “We don’t have time Josh!” I exclaimed. He opened his mouth to argue but I cut him off. “No, we really don’t! Dr. M pulled me aside while we were at the clinic before. She said that if I want to do this operation, it has to be within the month! My condition is deteriorating rapidly!” Josh looked at me with a stunned expression. I realized that everyone had grown quiet and shared looks of shock and horror similar to Josh’s, except for my dad. I’d told him already but not anyone else. A light blush crept into my cheeks as I realized I’d pretty much dropped the bomb on all of them, even my own mother. “What?” her voice was barely above a whisper but I could tell it would surely rise within moment. “What do you mean you only have a month? And when did you go to the clinic today?” Well shit. I groaned internally before answering her questions. “Don’t worry about why I was there, I’ll explain later. But Dr. M told me that my valves are getting worse. If we don’t do the operation before the end of the month, it’ll be too late and I won’t have any chance left. We’re screwed!” My mother’s face twisted into one of extreme pain and Josh’s face showed a brief spasm of pain. However, my dad looked utterly confused. “Now wait just a gosh darn minute,” he said, turning to my mom. “Did you all seriously think I wouldn’t be giving you money Chrissi?” I could see a faint blush in my mom’s cheeks after he used her old nickname but she quickly recovered. “Well, I mean, I didn’t-“ “No excuses. I may not live in the same house as Hayley and you but that doesn’t change the fact that she is my daughter,” he argued. “And if you’d spoken to me before we started this whole fundraiser thing, I would have gladly helped you out. I don’t care if money’s tight right now, I can give you the $45,000.” “Joseph, don’t be ridiculous! You can’t afford th-“ “Yes I can. This is my daughter. It’s not like I’m trying to blow my funds on a car I don’t need or a house that I could live without. Hayley is just as important to me as she is to you. Do you think I’d be able to live with myself if I let her die when I could help save her?” We all flinched. When he put it like that… we didn’t have much of an argument. My mother’s face fell and she suddenly looked much, much older. “You’re right,” she mumbled, defeated. “We need you.” “Damn straight! Wait what?” my dad looked even more confused now. He obviously hadn’t expected mom to give in so easily. I smiled a little at his puzzled expression. Even my mom giggled a little. “It’s settled then,” my mom said. “Joseph is providing the remaining money.” “So… we have enough,” I remarked, realizing I sounded like a ditzy fool by stating the obvious. But what else could I do? I felt as if I was going into shock. “We have enough!” Josh cheered, giving me a quick peck on the cheek as everyone else erupted into a victorious state. I could feel the grin on my face as Josh kissed me again. Somewhere in the back of my mind, nerves were starting to take over. But I ignored them as I enjoyed the moment. I savored the feel of Josh’s lips on my own as my mind cheered. I had a chance! I could stay here. With my parents and friends. With Josh. And it was that mere revelation that gave me the courage for this operation. The chance to be with everyone I loved. I was ready. I was going to live.

September 12, 2009idc Chapter 2*Shari's POV* So it was Saturday morning and I was all but freaking out, ALex was picking me up at seven and we had been texting ever since we first met. I just couldnt believe how he could be the most amazing guy ever but he pulled it off so effortlessly. I had a few errands to run that I hoped would keep me busy, so I quickly showered got dressed and headed out it was about 12:00 pm. As I got in my car and turned the key I was satisfied that the engine quickly revved up, I needed to go to get my hair cut which always seemed to calm me down and I was happy I could get it done before I went out with Alex. Then i needed to get my dads medication from the Pharmacy, he's about 60 and I always feel the need to take care of him, mom had to go to a confrence in Toronto. After I got home it was about 6:00, so I took another shower found something casual/pretty to wear and tried to calm my self down. *Alex POV* "I gotta go guys" I said it was about 5:00 and I needed to get home to get ready to pick up Shari. Band Practice was as good as always learning new songs and just plain hanging with everybody. Jack gave me a questioning look as we packed up. "Have a good time, man" He said in a voice that could make anybody burst out laughing. Jack is my best friend always has been, we could get into more trouble together that with anybody else I knew. "You know me" I replied and headed to my car. I quickly got home and changed, and attempted to get the hair that normally turned teenage girls wild, I'm not too selfcentered but come on I do notice these things. As I finished it was time to pick her up. As I pulled into the driveway I noticed the house was slight, at least two stories, it was light blue with flowers circled around the yard. Then I saw her and I lost all words. *Shari's POV* It was time, as I saw him pull the car into my driveway, he had on dark jeans and flannel shirt, he looked hot. I was wearing dark jeans and my All Time Low shirt just to get him I smiled wryly. He walked up to me and we just looked at each other smiling. "Hey" He said "Hey" I replied we made our way to his car, it was clean but full of cd's most of them were my favorite bands. As he turned on the car I heard a familar song. "Sweetness, by Jimmy Eat World" I said. He smiled " YOu know this band?" "Yeah its one of my favorites" I replied. "SO where are we going?" I asked looking at him as we drove. "THats for me to know and you to find out" He said idly. "Fine" I said. Wow I was in ALex GAskarth's car going on a date with him, just last week I was some dumbstruck fan. We pulled into a parking lot and he led me on to stairs it was too dark to see but when we reached our destination, I saw the view. We were on top of a building over looking the beach there were lights everywhere, it was beautiful, the cd player was playing all of my favorite songs. I gasped. "Wow" I said. "Good I was hoping to impress you." He said. "Oh yeah because, being in one of my favorite bands and travling the world oh yeah and being incredibly hot that wouldnt impress me." I said. Well here is the second chapter more soon
